Monday Morning Coffee

Good Monday morning, my friends. I hope your weekend was relaxing if that is your thing, or exciting, or maybe both! Mine was quiet, cozy, and sunny. This morning, I am drinking my coffee from a favorite mug, although I never fill it full. I don't like how it cools and gets lukewarm before I can finish it. Like I said, my coffee needs to be hot! I have switched back to Dunkin Original because I find it a bit less dark than Starbucks. Dark equals sludge to me!

After a sunny day yesterday, snow showers have returned this morning. My kids talk about how they do not remember a winter with this much snow! It does take me back to my childhood in the late 1970s when my mom would bundle us in snowmobile suits and boots with bread bags inside so we could go out and play in the mounds of snow that reached past our neighbor's fence.

Today I will homeschool with Flynn, work on laundry, change bedsheets, write out bills I never got to last week, and make dinner for my people. Then we will settle in for our favorite way to spend Monday nights, with a bachelor passing out roses to eager young women as if they were the last flowers on earth. Because getting a rose means you still have a chance to marry the same man your friends have also been dating for a total of six weeks. We make fun, yet return season after season. What does that say about us?!

Have a good day, my friends!
Stay safe and healthy and happy.

  1. I love your spin on the Bachelor. I don't watch it but I have my own tacky favorites and understand completely. You are lucky to have young girls to watch the show with you. That would make a difference.

I always add cold water to my coffee. The coffee pot shuts off before I'm out of bed and I never warm it up - my last cup will be late in the afternoon - cold!

We have had so much snow here in Fort Wayne and I love it!!

  2. Good morning, and happy Monday! My coffee cools off way too quickly for my liking, but I don't like drinking it out of an insulated travel type mug, either, but hmm, I could drink four HALF cups instead of the two full cups...brilliant! The bread bags lining the boots, everyone in our neighborhood did that back in the day! We stayed outside for hours at a time, came in, changed into dry stuff, and went back out...it didn't matter if the mittens matched, although ours usually did because they were connected by what we politically incorrectly referred to as "idiot strings", because my mother knitted them for us. I do love the snow too, but we're getting absolutely hammered with it today, and my daughter has to drive in to college this afternoon in it.

  3. Your deck looks gorgeous with the sun coming through and shining off the snow! I like your little dog in the sun too! We had an active weekend with 3 hikes! But it felt great to get out. Happy Monday!

  6. Lovely pictures as always. :) Here, we are getting rain today. Temperatures yesterday morning were 5 degrees. This morning when I took the kids to school it was 38. It is quite windy here today though. Just grey and dreary. Enjoy your Monday! :)

  7. The snow has left as quickly as it came here leaving in its wake rain, rain and more rain. Sounds like you have a fun cozy evening planned.

  8. Gorgeous photos! We're getting sun around here today and it's melting away our snow. I enjoyed the snow but I'm not sad it's going to melt away today. Hope you have a wonderful week!

  9. The snow photos are gorgeous. We rarely get any snow, much less accumulations, so I am awed by how beautiful it is.

  10. Billie Jo, your deck view is so pretty with the snow glistening in the sunshine. We have had rain all day, but the sun is shining now. Blessings to you and yours.

  11. It seems like the entire country is getting more snow than they're used to getting. I wouldn't mind getting more here. We got some last week but there is none in this week's forecast :-(
We ate our way through the weekend :-)
I love Dunkin coffee too. Don't like Starbucks. Much too strong. I'll drink my coffee cold or hot.
either way is fine with me.
    Take care!

  12. It's like the mommy vlogs I watch in horror to see how much money they spend on nonsense.

  13. I prefer my coffee hot too! My Yeti coffee mug does a good job keeping it warm. But if you like to stick your mug in the microwave to heat the coffee then a Yeti definitely would not work for you!

  14. Your deck looks so lovely all covered in snow. What a winter wonderland. I chuckled when you were talking about pouring half a cup of coffee so it doesn't get cool. I can relate, cause I love hot coffee! Your cup is so cute and meaningful at the same time. It is a gentle reminder to "pause" for awhile and notice the things around us. Your Monday coffee posts are delightful in every way, Billie Jo.

  15. I would love the snow more if I had scenery like that outside my window, for sure! So beautiful. My husband loves dark roast coffee and I'll tolerate it but am not too much of a fan. Hope you are enjoying the week! We had snow on Monday and today it's sunny and 50 degrees.
