When I was young, I dreamed of being a wife and mother. I am blessed to live that dream every single day along with my husband Steve, our four children, one son-in-law and two precious pups.

Hey there!
Hi! I'm Billie Jo, a wife to one and mother to four who loves all things home and family. During the day I homeschool, do laundry, and drink way excessive amounts of coffee. I would much rather read than exercise, and I am blessed to live the life I dreamed of.

Really Good Cabbage Soup ~ Really!

I know. I know. Cabbage Soup gets a bad rap. But honestly, this recipe is delicious. I made it yesterday morning in my new Dutch Oven~Thank you husband for the best Christmas gift ever~ And isn't it funny how our idea of the perfect gift changes in direct proportion to the number of years we are married?!

I digress. This is a great soup for lunch on a blustery winter day and works well for meal prep lunches too. Don't be afraid of the cabbage. The cumin steals the show. If you want to give it a try, here is a link to the Recipe.

(I replaced the celery with green pepper.
And full disclosure: I buy prechopped veggies at the store.
Saves time and makes me more inclined to use them!)

Have a cozy Wednesday, my friends.

  1. Looks delish! I am so drawn to cook soups in the winter - I will have to try this out! Thanks!

  2. Soup looks amazing! I think the celery is supposed to take away the gas...so I've been told. (not that it would do it for me!)

  3. I love cabbage soup but too much does not like me.

  4. That looks delicious. Mum gave me lots of cabbage recently but I didn't think of making soup with it, instead I bulked out a few really good stir-fry's. Next time she gives me some I may have to try this! xx Susan

  5. Hi Billie Jo~

I love cabbage! I would never think to put cumin in cabbage soup, but it looks delicious, and I have all the ingredients on hand...sounds like a keeper, thanks for sharing!!

    Hugs and Love,

  6. Looks delicious. I love soup at this tie of year warming and filling.

  7. This looks so yummy and hearty - perfect for January after the sugar-overload from the holidays :) We may have to try making something like this...

  8. It looks so tasty! I will have to make it sometime soon. Thank you for sharing. Hugs my friend. ~Juli

  9. I haven't had a good cabbage soup in a long time. This looks wonderful. Soups and stews are comforting on these cold January days.
