Keepin' It Real

Just last week I was thinking that I hope I never portray an erroneous image here on this little blog. This space serves as an online journal and scrapbook of sorts. In addition, I am hopeful that in some small way I am able to inspire or at least encourage anyone reading as well. One thing I hope I never do is to portray a life that is perfect. So in an effort to keep things real around here, I am posting some photos of the current state of my home. Because. Real life.

I started putting my Christmas decorations away.
And then I quit.

I love doing laundry.
Good thing, because my laundry room looks like this almost every single day.

Trying to reorganize Flynn's toy cupboard.
This is how far I got.

I got nothing.

Nothing here either.

Dinner last night.
And lunch today.

Calling it a day with a snuggle on the couch.
With Flynn's Emoji throw, of course.

Thanks for hanging in there!
Have a wonderful week!

  1. We all have those sights in our homes, we just dont always think of them as something to share. Glad to know your home isnt 'perfect' tho! None of us are.

  7. Looks just like my house right now! I decided to purge and reorganize the Christmas decorations. One box a day, no stress. So far I've done zero boxes but I have piled everything up in one spot! May I ask, where did you find that waffle type blanket in your bedroom pic? It looks so cozy! I love to do laundry too, today is sheets and blankets so I better get to work! Cheers to keeping it real

    1. Hi Angela!
Yes. That blanket is so soft!
It is a Berkshire Blanket. I got it online.
I have found some at TJ Maxx though~
      Thanks for reading!
      Do you have a blog?

    2. I should have guessed it was a Berkshire blanket, I love them! I dont have a blog, I'm not that interesting! I do enjoy reading them though and particularly enjoy yours and Madisons. I'll have to check QVC and TJMaxx for the blanket, thanks for the tip!

  9. This is a great post that made me laugh. While my husband is making a quick trip to our condo in North Carolina, I stayed home in WV to accomplish "many tasks" (my words to him). Well, guess what. So far, I've accomplished nothing. Oh, well. Keeping it real appears to be one of the underlying principle of your blog. Thanks for your candor and humor.

  10. Oh no! My keyboard is weird today. I think it needs batteries. The "s" didn't type in the word "principle." It should be "principles." I can't stand errors in publication (or any errors for that matter). I can't get out of the school administrator mode. :) Oh, well. Sorry.

  13. I don't think any of us here are "perfect" or think anyone else is perfect either. We are just real people. Thanks for sharing some of your chaos!! I could certainly share similar photos!! Hugs!

  14. Oh you dear lady! You have inspired and influenced me in so many ways in the time that I've known you through our blogging endeavors. However, I have to say that I LOVED this post BECAUSE our homes look pretty much the same today...only mine isn't from putting away Christmas decorations. :) xx

  15. Life is far from perfect, for sure! None of us want to live in a museum. The everyday goings on in life show that we live, not exist. Great post! ♥

  16. LOL thanks for keepin' it real. I have to say I do tend to stay away from blogs that portray that sense of "I've got it all together" and gravitate to the ones that just share life. Thanks for sharing the good, bad and ugly haha! Happy New Year!

  23. It's called having a full house and a full life. I'm pretty sure that's the state of most family's homes. You start doing something then you get called over to do something else and... daily family life. ♥

  25. This is my current state as well! My Christmas is all put away and things are still a hot mess around here. We'll get there eventually! Right now it's too warm and cozy on the couch for anything more! Thank you for being real, my friend! Happy January! xo

  26. Your house looks like mine!! We are normal, I think!! We live here, right? This living.

  27. Thank you for keeping it real. I am so happy to see this! Yes, your world looks perfect but I'know life is not. My family went to Opryland before Christmas. My daughter's in laws were sad because they saw all the happy pictures and were wishing they had shared in the moment. I laughed and so did my daughter. She told them they hadn't missed a thing! It was the worse night of the Christmas season. My daughter's baby was only a week old. She had cabin fever and wanted to get out of the house. It was raining. The baby was crying. Her husband had to stay home and meet a neighbor who was delivering food. I lost the car. Yes, I did. So photos don't always show it all. Thanks for allowing us to peek.
