Long Weekend Plans

The long weekend is here and we are happy. Friday evening is free and I plan on a quiet night macaroni and cheese, tv and sleep! You can hardly stand the excitement that is my life, right?

Saturday I plan on finishing up my laundry and odds and ends around the house before afternoon Mass. Steve, Rhett, and Madison's boyfriend Ryan are going to camp for the night after Mass, so the girls and I are planning a Chinese takeout and movie night. I feel so blessed that even at 16, my Madison enjoys spending time at home with us! : )

Sunday the girls and I are going to head up to camp for the day. Someday I will might possibly spend the night there. But for now, it is just so much easier to go up in the morning after all 4 of us girls are showered and ready! I am looking forward to spending the afternoon relaxing and playing games while the snow falls outside. It is so cozy there.  As of now, Steve wants to cook some steaks for dinner, so all I need to do is bring up some yummy side dishes to go with it. Any ideas? I'm up for anything! : )

Monday is a day off for my kids! We plan to spend it in our jammies with some movies and some popcorn, as well as enjoy a homework-free evening. Well, that is what we have planned for this mid-winter weekend. I hope your weekend is happy and cozy and long, whatever your plans may be!

Some others in our home were feeling a little sick this week...

Our February cupcake delivery had a Valentine theme...see those on the bottom with the chocolate icing? They would be raspberry truffle...is it wrong that I hid one for myself?

Some pictures of our Mardi Gras celebration on Tuesday evening...

If it looks like someone took a sample before I got a picture...someone did!

Me and my Mardi Gras Princess!

She loved the masks...after the balloons broke...

All my littles, and an extra one that hangs out here an awful lot!

Flynn and her Peyton, who is oh so good to her!

And me with my new glasses...one of the perks of being (slightly) over 40!

Flynn and I playing around with my iPad...

because that is how all mature 43-year-old mommies spend their days, right?

But also, because I never want to forget these moments...

  1. Your weekend sounds so cozy! *almost* makes me wish we had snow. :) The camping sounds like a lot of fun! Love the valentines blog theme!

  2. Your weekend sounds perfect... as usual! You know what struck me today as I read your post? How much your daughter's boyfriend loves to hang out at your house. That's the house I want to have when my girls are teenagers. That was the house that my mom had. I remember my (now husband) high school boyfriend always at our housel, eating good food, hanging out. Most of the time I know that we do all the cozy extras around the house because we love it... but look what it does?! Teenagers and their boyfriends are there too! That's awesome! Loved your Mari Gras night and oh that cake, yum! Have a great weekend friend...wishing I could one day hang out with you! Have fun with your "littles" ~tara

  3. I love your weekends...they are just how I like them. Home with the family.
You talk about your husband and son going to camp and you and the girls are going this weekend. Is it outdoor caming that you do or is it a cabin that you go to?
Love your new glasses. Yes, being slightly over 40 has many perks ;)

  4. I agree with Tara. It is really great that your daughter's boyfriend is there a lot. I want my house to be a safe haven for my kids and their friends. It has nothing to do with the fact that I'm a control freak and want to know where they are 24/7 :) Enjoy your weekend.

  6. Where do you get your cupcakes delivered from? And no, it's not wrong you hid one...I would hide them all. Your glasses are awesome! I hope you got them free from firmoo.com

  7. The cupcakes look delicious! I would have hidden one too! Chris surprised me with a date night out...a wine and dessert tasting at a local Wine Bar. It was so much fun. I love that you did a Mardi Gras party at home. One of these days I'll get myself organized to do such things...I was just glad to get the Valentine's Luncheon planned. LOL You're glasses look great! I need some desperately. I broke down and bought a pair of readers from Wal-mart, but I need an actual eye exam. I've never had to wear glasses. Yes, the "perks" of being over 40! Happy Weekend, Friend!
