Wednesday Wondering

 I wonder...

1. Do you know the name of this show from the 70s?

2. How about this one?

3. Did you ever drink from these? Bonus! What did you do with the bottle after you were done?

4. Did you do this in middle school?

5. Do you know what these are?

6. How about these?

Just for fun today, my friends! Answers are down below.
Have a cozy Wednesday, and stay warm and safe!

Billie Jo

1. Land of the Lost
My sisters and I loved this show! We were terrified of the creepy creatures called sleestaks!

2. Alice
My dad loved this show. It was about a group of women working at Mel's Diner. It was on Sunday nights, and it was so funny.

3. Glass Pop Bottles
I remember drinking from these in high school. The best part was peeling the labels and seeing how long of a piece you could get. See how we amused ourselves before phones?!

4. Square Dancing
Oh, man. I remember those days. My friends and I would always frantically try to plan our strategy for getting into the group with the boys we were crushing on! It was silly, but it sure beat getting pummeled by those rubber balls in Dodgeball!

5. Notes
Remember these? It was a good day when you opened your locker and saw one of these inside. Of course, you always had to look nonchalant in case the guy who wrote it was watching you!

6.
Candy Land
Just seeing these makes me happy. They are the original cards from one of my favorite games, Candy Land. Remember going through the Gumdrop Mountains and hoping you picked the Ice Cream Floats?

( Thanks to the magic of the internet for the memories. )

  1. I do remember watching those shows when I was little. Well, I can't remember the first one but I do remember the title and those faces look familiar. I did watch Alice. Yes we square danced and I do miss that note passing. I think I still remember how to fold it that way. We still have Candyland but haven't played since the kids were little. And glass bottles of soda ... hmmm? ... I think I drank from those. So much from the past but so little I remember.

  2. I can say "yes, I remember!" to all except the first one. The show doesn't ring any bells!

  3. Okay, I knew that it was Land of the Lost but I didn't know Alice. We still square danced and passed notes like that in the 90s! And I had a "classic" Candyland game with those same cards so I am doing okay on this list!

  4. I knew all of these! I don't think I watched Alice when I was young - I don't think my parents would have let me. However, peeling the labels off was always fun.
(Now the Land of the Lost Theme song is going through my head. We would play Land of the Lost with mittens on our hands to be the bad guys - the Sleestak.

  5. Hi Billie Jo ~ I do remember all of these things! Isn't it wonderful that we have these great memories to look back on?! And how wonderful that technology can help us! I can remember passing those cute little notes to my friends, all folded up in a neat little square. I got caught by my teacher once while passing a note. We both had to go talk to the principal... Not a good memory! Fun post, Billie Jo! Hugs, Barb

  8. Most likely I'm at least 15 years older than you, so I have to work harder to remember some of these things. How times have changed!

  9. Fun trip down Memorie lane. I was the skinny dingy waitress; I am still dingy but not as skinny!

  10. This was so fun!!! I recognized them all except Land Of The Lost. Another one I liked was Lost In Space. We played Candyland as a kid too!

  11. Now that was a fun trip down memory lane. I recognize everything except The Land of The Lost.

  12. I loved all those things! Especially Alice

  13. I didn't drink pop growing up. Neat about the label thingy though. Land of the Lost has quite a few similarities to Harry Potter. Including a character in there named, Harry Potts.

  14. Couldn't remember the name of the first show but got the rest. Soda (pop) tasted better in glass bottles didn't it?

  15. Though I've heard of the shows from the 70's didn't watch them.
Did drink mountain dew and coke.
Remember Candy Land well. Played it as a kid and then with my kids and grandkids.

  16. Fun post, Billie Jo! I didn't watch either show, and didn't drink a lot of soda when I was in high school. Wow, I must have lived a boring life! I do remember playing Candy Land, both in my own childhood and with my kids! Thanks for bringing back some good memories!

  17. I didn't really like Land of the Lost, I was a Scooby Doo lover. But I do remember peeling those labels, and my father liked "Alice". Notes in school though, I remember! I still play Candyland with the grandkids, and we have a few old boards from when the older kids were little. Square dancing in gym class: loved/hated it. I liked learning the moves and dancing, but hated, absolutely abhorred dancing with the boys, with their sweaty hands, so awkward they hated it too. In high school, I put up such a fuss one time, insisted I partner with my best friend Kim, the gym teacher finally let us, it was great fun.

  18. Oh my goodness - I LOVE these blasts from the past so much!! I remember them all!! And fun fact: I still have a little box filled with the folded notes like that from my friends in high school (& my ex since we were high school sweethearts) 💗

  19. I can say YES to all of them too. In fact, my Hubby's 7th grade class was actually chosen to square dance on a segment of the local news. :-) I've heard the story, but unfortunately I never was able to see it.
Do you remember the show "Hazel"? She was a housekeeper in a show in the 70's. We've named our robot vacuum cleaner Hazel. Ha!
Love these blasts from the past.
    Blessings and hugs,
    Betsy

  20. Ditto on remembering except for the notes. We did not do those.

  21. I remember Alice and Mel's Diner and funny enough my husband still had some of the notes I used to write him all folded up like that (I think I finally convinced him to purge them!). I recognized the Candyland pieces too even if our set had completely different pictures and colors.

  22. I remember all of those, except the coke bottles! I loved Land of the Lost and was also scared to death of the monsters :) And all the notes we passed back and forth, folded like that! What memories! So fun, Billie Jo! I hope you're having a cozy week :)

  23. Square dancing is the only thing I remember. It was an all girl school though.have a great week.

  24. I'm thinking I lived a very sheltered life...plus the fact that I'm probably about 20+ years older than you...but the only one out of these that I can say I did was the square dancing in school. I did have the occasional Coke, and it was in a glass bottle...just a different shape. Fun post today, my friend. xx

  25. I got CandyLand. We enjoyed playing that with our children when they were little. The papers I assumed were notes in school but we also used to fold them like that to play tabletop football. Did you ever do that? Making goalposts with your hands?:)
