Some Small Moments

Good morning! Welcome to the weekend, my friends. This morning, I was reminded of my not~a~resolution~ idea of noticing and appreciating the small moments in my day that bring me joy. Good thing because here it is twelve days in, and I almost forgot already. What reminded me, you ask?

This is one of those things that literally causes me to stop and simply look. So that is what I did. This, in turn, allowed me to reflect on this past week and remember a few other moments that did the same.

Schooling on the couch with two extra students...

Coffee in a favorite Bambi mug by the fire on a cold January morning...

And pups in sweaters on a random afternoon.

Reflecting on these moments of joy does not imply that my week was without trouble. Instead, doing so enables me to better deal with any difficulties a day brings. Simple joys will be different for each of us, as are our challenges. Choosing to remain a moment longer in the good is a way to balance the not~so~ good. And an extra cup of coffee on a cold January day never hurts!

I hope your weekend is filled to the brim with fun and joy! Stay warm. Stay cozy. Watch football. Or not. Whatever you do, do it for you!

What little things brought you joy this week?
Care to share?

Thanks for visiting!

Billie Jo

  4. What a beautiful sky!
    I need frequent reminders too.
Today I'm thankful for the ability to work from home as we are under a big winter storm/bizzard watch!

  5. I so identify with your blog! This week we will enjoy the Chiefs game with friends, celebrate my hubbies 75th birthday, my bills are paid, my beautiful home is cozy and warm, my pajamas are soft, and I have a bottle of A&W root beer for a special treat today! Thank you for the reminders! I always carry this quote in my heart "My Life is BIGGER than My World" I am HIS child from conception to eternity". May God bless all of us with smiles and laughter! ~jackiesee~

  6. The sky colours are beautiful. I enjoyed the coziness of the house this past week when we had a storm. That is not something I take for granted!

  7. That sky is so beautiful and so are your "extra" students. We are on our third snow day this week. Our garage at the condo is drifted shut again and they plowed twice since midnight! A nice cozy day at home in front of the fire. I'm so thankful to God for our cozy home that we no longer have to worry about getting out and shoveling snow and mowing in the humidity it the summer. He is SO good.
    Blessings and hugs,
    Betsy

  9. You are so right!! I taught a lesson at church about how being thankful brings us joy. Noticing and being thankful for all the things during the day, and keeping a lookout for them, helps to get us through the harder things. Thank you so much for your wonderful comments and prayers! They helped to get me through! The sky is gorgeous. It is not a little thing, it is a HUGE joyful moment. And God made it just for us. I love the adorable dog sweaters!!! Going to scroll down and see some of the posts I missed now.

  11. I find little joys every single day, but for the past several years I have been looking for them. Prior to that I think they went unnoticed.

  13. Those photos of the sky are so gorgeous, and looks like our skies sometimes here in Arizona. I’m finding joy in the simplest things, like picking fresh parsley from my little garden for drying. Your pups are adorable, love their sweaters.

  16. Oh my goodness, two beautiful scene in your first and last photo. About as perfect a sunset as any I have ever seen, a beautiful combination of sky, snow, trees and water. Looks like you have had a lovely week and your pups are adorable! I love the simple joys in life, having a hot drink in a pretty mug, in front of the fire. Couldn’t get better! I really appreciated my walk today on an ever so chilly day, and then getting back to the house and fixing myself a hot drink to take the chill away. Have a great weekend Billie Jo!

  17. Cozy but cold snow you shared!!! I find joy at times but sometimes I forget about it. I am grateful to be out and about to get items we may need due to weather issues that will appear this weekend into Tuesday. Helpful people at stores we've been to. I am glad you are enjoying your mug of coffee. Bambi is a good memory of that cartoon movie. It's cold and starting to snow a bit tonight. Stay warm and blessed!!--Becky

  19. Loved this post, that first photo, wow! I have a book called Microjoys waiting on my to be read pile and reading this reminded me of it though I've yet to open it. True winter weather for us this week and getting to play in it brought me lots of joy this week. As will sitting in the warm house the rest of this weekend while the temperatures around here plummet. Happy Saturday!

  20. I try to be more aware of the small things that bring joy as well. My youngest granddaughter snuggled on the couch with me this week and she rarely does that.

  24. Hi Billie Jo! You are so right - we need to dwell in the positives, even when life is tough. My week had problems and challenges too, but I am choosing to dwell on an awesome day we had with our grandsons and son-in-law at the Salt Lake Auto Expo! Good memories. Beautiful sunset picture in this post. Stay warm and cozy and enjoy the rest of the weekend. See you again soon!

  25. One thing that brought me joy this week was finding out why Beth wasn't improving health-wise. Now she's on antibiotics and starting to do better. I love your Bambi mug! That is my favorite all-time movie. I can't think of Thumper without smiling. :)

  26. Hello Billie Jo,
I found your blog through Marilyn Moseley's giveaway of my book, Venture. Thank you for your interest in my book. I see you are an author, too!
