Monday Morning Coffee

Good Monday morning, my friends! We interrupt the regularly scheduled Monday morning coffee posts in front of the fire for this one, taken outside in Florida this morning. Yes, we boarded a plane for the first time in over five years, and two and a half hours later, we traded the cold and snow for some partial sun and warmth. When I woke up yesterday morning and took the pups outside, I was sure we would not be able to fly that day. It was snowy, freezing, and windy. By the time we were ready for takeoff, the weather had transformed into this...

Here we are, all ready to go! Don't be fooled by my borderline manic look. Steve hates flying, and I just realized I was the one to keep calm and hold things together. Fortunately, he did great, thanks to Rhett setting him up with headphones and a movie to watch.

Before we knew it, we were at our first stop, and I promptly showered, changed into my cozy clothes, and settled in with Madison for the evening. We enjoyed the room service and The Miss America Pageant while the others headed for dinner. A homebody is a homebody, no matter where she is!

Have a wonderful week, my friends! Stay warm and cozy, and as always, thanks for visiting!

Billie Jo

  1. My daughter’s flight from Indiana was delayed hours yesterday…she comes every other month for a couple of weeks. Although she was here in December for some special grandson events. We put the furnace on last night finally. I live on the Gulf one half mile from son. My kids left home for college and lived everywhere…for the past few years I have been near one of them. Florida in January-is our coldest but compared to indiana a-heat wave. Enjoy your trip. Our family needs a plane and an Uber as we keep the skies filled with trips…someone is flying in this country or overseas frequently…we love love it. Love your uplifting blog.

  3. It's going to be 70 degrees here today in North Central Florida but then we have some cold temps for the rest of the week. Well....cold for us! Hope you're a little farther South! ENJOY your vacay!

  4. Billie Jo!!!! We are sitting at MCO right now!!! We just did a land and sea Disney Adventure and we had breakfast at the Riviera on Wednesday!! I was seriously thinking of you the whole time because of DVC and thinking it had been a while since you were there. We just finished a 3 Day Disney Wish cruise and it was amazing. Hope you get to ride Skyliner once before it closes tomorrow!

  8. Good for you escaping the snow and cold for awhile. We're supposed to start our drive to Texas on Wednesday but many roads are still impassable with 12 foot drifts. I'm starting to think we should have flown instead. Have fun!
    Blessings and hugs,
    Betsy

  18. I am so happy you did not have the horrible flying experience my kids had. Stuck in D. C. in a hotel for several days waiting for the weather to allow landing in Oregon where they live. It was a nightmare.

  20. I am glad you made it safely to FL. I watched the Miss America Pageant as well last evening on my cell phone. I could have got off my recliner and done it on my laptop. I was thankful that Madison won being Miss America!! I watched a video of her this afternoon about her getting airplane clothes and flying in a F 16D. I was in Air Force as well but not a fighter pilot at all. I was asked if I flew planes from other people. I remember being in a county in OR pageant when I was in high school. I didn't win but it was good to be there!! Enjoy your time with family!! It
still cold here in Oregon, but sunshine though for a bit!! Maybe Wednesday will be better day to go out and get some milk as it's getting low.

  29. I feel I should apologize on behalf of my home state. Florida is usually heavenly this time of year, with bright sunshine and 70*-80* weather. Sadly, this week it is SO cold and dreary and rainy, I feel like we are experiencing the winter that happens up north. Hope you are in a sunnier part of the state than I am...but I hope you and your family have fun either way.
