Good Friday morning, my friends! As you can see, our annual visitors have returned, indicating that spring is not far behind. Although I know that March and even April in Pennsylvania can sometimes bring winter's last hurrah. I can't say that makes me unhappy, though. One last cozy snow? I'll take it.
Tuesday, we celebrated Mardi Gras together. This year we had pancakes, and the kitchen was filled with all kinds of activity and fun! Nicolas even made Danish pancakes called Pandekager, and they were delicious! If you want to try them, just click HERE! They were a big hit!
Tonight we begin our Lenten tradition of Fish Fry Fridays. Our very favorite fish fry is and will always be at our local parish, headed by our friend and pastor, Fr. Ross. We have yet to find one that we like as much, so we plan to take the short ride for our favorite a few times. Do you have fish fry during Lent, where you live? I'd love to know!
Have a cozy weekend, my friends. I have not been around to visit lately but will soon! Thanks for reading. Keeping Ukraine and our world in prayer,
Billie Jo
The Danish pancakes sounds Yummy. Your fish fry sounds really good also. Yes, I have fish sometimes on Fridays during Lent, but also other foods that are not meat, such as mac and cheese, eggs and tortillas, pasta with butter. I just love the view from your house, and that string of lights hanging must be so pretty when it's dark out. Your visitor birds are sweet. Not a lot of birds yet, as February is one cold month up here. But like you, another soft snowfall would be welcomed.
ReplyDeleteHappy March days, Billie Jo. May they bring you all the goodness you give to others.

I don't know if they do fish fry Friday or not in this area...have never done that. My d in law from the Eukraine...prayers..enjoy your blog....
ReplyDeleteHi Billie Jo. I love you you celebrate all the holidays with your lovely family. I hope you enjoy the weekend. We are also praying for Ukraine. So heartbreaking.
ReplyDeleteOh Fish Fry where I live. But, I am trying to be healthier. I grew up in the south, never learned to like fish (we ate fried chicken!) but I am going to try to eat it more now so I will be on the right path for my health. Enjoy your weekend!
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful view, I always enjoy it when our Canadian geese come for a visit.Enjoy your evening!
ReplyDeleteBlessings,
Sue
Oh, yes! Fish Fry Fridays! We have several to choose from. Tonight we are trying one of the local fire departments. Fish, haluski, and pierogi's = YUM!
ReplyDeleteOur parish dies a fish fry once during Lent but we never go as Dan hates fish! He will eat tuna salad but fried fish is a no-go for him. I love your Mardi Gras party. So lovely! Have a great weekend.
ReplyDeleteSissie was telling me yesterday that she has all the fish meals lined up in her freezer for lent. But a fish fry does sound good.
ReplyDeleteI haven't heard of a Fish Fry around here yet, but the season is young. Those Pandekager look delicious. Recipe is printed out and ready for a lazy morning when a late brunch is in order. Beautiful view of the lake from your home. I'm with you... I enjoy some chilly days in March, and a slow warm up in April and May. It's supposed to reach a ridiculous 75 degrees here tomorrow (Saturday), though, so we have that kind of wonky weather too.
ReplyDeleteOur local parish fish fry is good - but sometimes we opt for Popcorn Shrimp from Dairy Queen on Fridays! Yum! Geese in ponds are showing up around here too and it actually finally rained last night and the grass has an itty bit tint of green. Snow predicted here on Thursday! Spring -- always entertaining. Have a wonderful weekend!
ReplyDeleteOur local catholic school has a fish fry every Friday during lent and it is delicious! We try to make it at least once or twice. It's a good price and helps the church/school. Have a wonderful weekend!!
ReplyDeleteNice visitors you have/beautiful pictures:) It has been Spring-like warm here but another cold snap (as my Daddy called it) is coming next week. I will enjoy the day whatever the weather and I hope you will too. HUGS!
ReplyDeleteYour photos are exquisite- thanks for sharing them. I guess I missed Mardi Gras this year - forgot about it all together. Have a great week and yes , lets all pray for the Ukraine.
ReplyDeleteYep, fish frys are popular here too. Fried catfish, fried shrimp, and white beans and rice. It's crawfish season too, so having a big crawfish boil is the thing to do also. I'm one of the few who does not like crawfish at all!
