Yes, things around us are difficult, divisive, and downright scary.
It is easy to feel helpless, isn't it?
It is hard to make sense of the world as it is.
The only way I know is the only way I know.
I love my family, care for our home, enjoy the beauty of nature, cook satisfying meals, and surround myself with calm.
I am aware of events outside my little world.
I am choosing to keep them from permeating our lives.
This week we walked down the road.
We made a delicious new meal.
And we celebrated my precious little Mocha's 5th birthday.
It was good.
How are you doing these days, my friends?
Have a cozy weekend!
Oh! And here is the link to the delicious shrimp recipe!
I am doing the same things you are doing in trying to cope with everything going on in this crazy world today. Our homes definitely provide a refuge of safety & comfort and i’m so thankful we have control of that! That recipe looks delicious! Did you use white wine or chicken broth? Our little furry pup Tucker is going to be 5yrs old too this month! We usually buy him a package of those doggy ice creams! His favorite is the vanilla! lol.. Happy Friday my friend!
ReplyDeleteYour little Mocha is precious. We have 2 sweet dogs that we treat like children. I find myself all tensed up to the point of a headache over more bad news in the world. My relief comes with The Great British Baking Show. It is very calming to listen to the beautiful accents and watching people bake. I am finishing up the second round of watching the entire series. Take care! p.s. your hair looks great.
ReplyDeleteMocha is such a sweetie and obviously brings a lot of love and fun into your home. I am gradually turning my flower garden over to food production. It's fun looking out for edible but pretty plants.
ReplyDeleteThe shrimp dinner looks amazing.
ReplyDeleteJust like you, I'm keeping the nasty, bad stuff far from my home and bubble.
Happy birthday Mocha!
I like your ideas! Too much focus on the negative news isn't good for any of us. Lots of relief to be found in nature. And with family in our homes. Happy 5th birthday to Mocha! Going to look up that recipe, looks delicious! Hope you have a wonderful weekend!
ReplyDeleteHappy 5th birthday Mocha! Shrimp dish looks delicious, thanks for the recipe. Times are different these days! We are on vacation but staying in at the house we rented. It is right on the beach and everyone is practicing social distancing. Enjoy your day dear friend, HUGS!
ReplyDeleteLike you, I am trying to live a calm life with the Lord's help. Happy Birthday to sweet little Mocha!
ReplyDeleteI love your blog posts!! Always positive and uplifting. Exactly what we all could use these days. Happy 5th birthday Mocha!!!!
ReplyDeleteWise post!!!!
ReplyDeleteThank you!!!!!
And it certainly goes along with my post of today...
"Do we have to whine....?"
Well said! And Happy Birthday to little Mocha!
ReplyDeleteI am like you, I am just trying to keep our home a happy, safe haven now more than ever. Little Mocha is so darling. Hugs to you my friend. ~Juli
ReplyDeleteThe shrimp dish looks delicious. I'm not much of a fish person, but I do like shrimp and crab. Happy Birthday to your little Mocha. Sounds like you are doing just the right thing during this troublesome time in history. Surrounding yourself in calm is a good thing. : )
ReplyDeleteHave a restful weekend, Billie Jo.
~Sheri
Thanks Billie, I just needed to read words of calm, such comfort to my soul right now!
ReplyDeleteMocha has such a sweet face, looks like a people! Dogs are such a comfort. I totally agree, that to make your house a home, especially in these times, is a good work! Yesterday my 14 year old daughter informed me that she's heard enough about Gov. Cuomo, and is sick of politics, ouch, but she's right! (she snapped it at me strongly, ouch, teenagers!) Things are crazy and upside down, but home can still be warm and good and comfortable and peaceful and fun. I know that me having a good attitude is so vital to things going well here. Give that cute little pup a birthday hug!

Hi Billie Jo - You have such a cute puppy! Happy Birthday, Mocha. You are right, we have to be aware of what is going on in the world, but somehow focus on our own sphere of control and influence and let the rest of the world go by. I am taking a Facebook break this week. All the "stuff" out there just got too much, so I am walking away for a bit. I may or may not go back. I love stopping by and seeing your sweet home and family and how you all doing. Have a great weekend!
ReplyDeleteOh yes, what's going on in the world is hard to mentally handle lately. I cannot believe Mocha is 5. Didn't you just get her?!
ReplyDeleteI received your book yesterday that I won in your drawing! Thank you - can't wait to read it. Have to finish one before I start it. Take care!
ReplyDeleteGreat post. Great advice! I used to watch the news a few times a day but now it's a few times a week. I have enough going on in my own life, I don't need to add all the 'stuff' going on outside too. Have a blessed weekend.
ReplyDeleteIt sounds like you have been keeping busy. Me, too! It is a crazy world we are living in right now. Some of us do better with it than others, I think.
ReplyDeleteHave a great week- xo Diana
happy birthday to Mocha! And always well said my Friend. It feels like the world is almost surreal. But I hold onto His grace and I try not to look further than the week in front of me. Especially with trying to date in this crazy time too. And wanting to keep everyone safe. Especially my more compromised Mom. I try to live each day in gratitude and lay the rest at His feet. 🙏
ReplyDeleteYes, the news lately has been too much for my heart. I turned off my phone and listened to some music while making dinner. <3
ReplyDeleteThose pictures of Mocha are so sweet, what a tiny little thing. The shrimp looks delicious and I agree on your take on current events
