Our contribution to National Chocolate Cake Day
I've been demoted from head baker to decorative assistant. Those chocolate shavings? All me, my friends. All me.
This beautiful woman turned 81 this past week!
We celebrated her on her special day with family and friends and cake.
Peyton's chocolate cake with peanut butter icing.
Mom's choice. : )
I wish every single one of you could meet my mother.
She is the most wonderful soul I know.
Always happy.
Always giving.
Always humble.
Always Mom.
Quick selfie before our quick trip out to dinner...
And yes. I temporarily lost my glasses.
So I pulled out my old ones until I found them dangling on the cord of my phone charger behind my bed.
No idea. Just...no idea.
A brand new Dunkin Donuts opened around here!
Not my favorite...but I did treat myself to a mocha latte to sip on the drive home.
Happy February.
Happy weekend.
Happy football and happy food, my friends!
Thanks for visiting!
Happy Belated Birthday to your mom! I love how special your relationship is with her. I enjoy February. It's short, cozy and whispers the promise that March and Spring will be here soon!
ReplyDeleteCould your glasses have slipped between the mattress and headboard? That's what always happens to my sleep eye masks if I leave them on the bed. And remote controls used to do that too. Happy birthday to your lovely mom! Happy groundhogs day! Enjoy your Super Bowl Party!!!
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday to your lovely mom! And that chocolate cake with the chocolate shavings, just divine!!! I've heard others say January has been a long month for them, too. Time flies so fast for me, so I guess it seemed like a 'normal' month for me. ha!
ReplyDeleteLove these pictures and I really hope to see Peyton on the Food Network one day!! Have a wonderful weekend!
ReplyDeleteGood picture of Peyton and Flynn, such pretty girls. Yum on the chocolate cake and you did a good job with the shavings!!! lol February, being the short month, will fly by I just bet, so we better enjoy while we can. Happy weekend ahead.
ReplyDeleteBelated Birthday wishes for your Mum, the cake looks wonderful. Time is flying by for me, there are just not enough hours in the day.

January really did just speed by, I'm not sure where it went, but apparently...it's gone! Welcome, February!
Adorable photos of you and your cute girls! And, that glasses thing; I find the strangest things in the strangest places, just sayin'!

ReplyDeleteA very happy belated Birthday to your lovely mom, smiles....cold days are upon on us, I'm afraid, sigh. I hope you have a beautiful weekend.
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday to your Mum, and what a great cake. I wish someone would bake me a Peanut Butter Cake... What a great description of February, and so true of Australia as well. January everyone leaves town for holidays, businesses close, and it is too hot to think. February suddenly we all wake up, and look at Valentine's Day!
ReplyDeleteI didn’t get a chance to meet her, but we did have a sweet conversation on the phone. She is precious, just like you. Please wish her a belated birthday for me. I must have missed it on FB. Love you♥️
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely mother you have and by the looks of it, she sure had a great birthday!! National chocolate cake day, wow what a wonderful thing to celebrate!
ReplyDeleteHave a great weekend Billie Jo

HaPpY bIrThDaY to your mom! My mom hit that same number in Dec. You mom looks like she can be the life of the party. So sweet. That cake is looking pretty good also! I am also a Feb baby, although I am not looking at mom's number! :) I am only looking at 58! Wow, that seems way to high! Oh yeah, so about that, I started counting backwards when I hit 50, so that makes me 42! That's funny since my daughter is 37! haha
ReplyDeleteOh...sorry Billie Jo, I wanted to thank you for the sweet comments on my Fibro. I just keep going cause I have no choice but I try to educate others on it since people don't understand it all.
ReplyDeleteYou have given the most wonderful description of your mama. Not only do I wish I could meet her, I wish I could be like her!
ReplyDelete"She is the most wonderful soul I know.
Always happy.
Always giving.
Always humble.
Always Mom."
Once again you've painted a picture of a very happy and full life. I do wish we were neighbors. I'd love to meet you to hang out or have you come on over for a cup of tea or coffee or lemonade. I'd invite you to bring one of your chocolate cakes, too! I'll bring the Blue Belle Vanilla ice cream!
Hugs from your friend in southern Missoura.
Yep, Missoura!
Be blessed,
