Weekend Plans

Apologies for not visiting as much lately, my friends. This week was all about family and fun before Madison and Nicolas left for Denmark. More on that later. Meanwhile, summer marches on and we find ourselves enjoying the last weekend of July. Our weekend plans include mass and homemade zucchini lasagna as well as some rest and relaxation. Here is a peek at the past week here in our summer home...

We took a road trip together to visit Marian and watch a movie together...
Sidenote: War for The Planet of the Apes is a must see!

We ate at The Cheesecake Factory...

Where this Coffee Cheesecake changed my life forever.

We enjoyed a summer favorite...
Shark Week!

And awoke to find our sweetest neighbor Charley left some yummy zucchini on our side porch.

Too soon, we found ourselves at the night before Denmark Day...

So Peyton made a delicious Mixed Berry pie for Madison.

Mocha helped pack up the suitcases...

And I watched teary eyed, but feeling blessed and proud, as my four children took one last walk together.

Here they are...
Once again bound for adventure...and work and school...on the other side of the ocean.
I am blessed that his family welcomes my girl with open arms and hearts.

Hugs and tears and waves and smiles...
And then I sent my firstborn this.

And then I got to work, drowning my sorrows in scrubbing and cleaning Madison's room and bathroom. I had some help from the cutest Cinderella, too.

Could I ask for some prayers, my friends?
For my Madison as she leaves her home she loves so much to experience life with the one she loves and his family?
Thank you!
And in case you are wondering...
Only 162 more days until they return for an entire year.
Not that I'm counting. : )

They arrived safe and sound back in Denmark, and are settling in nicely.
We have already FaceTimed too.
Thank you for your prayers and good wishes.

Also, Thank you to a sweet friend who sent me this beautiful reminder of me and my Madison.

  1. Countdown away! Make a chain and have it be part of your school day! Looks like a great week for you all. Enjoy your weekend!

  2. That picture of them walking together melts this momma's heart. Prayers for safety while she is away, and patience for momma until her return. And agree, find some way to mark each day off. I found it helped when my girl was 12 hours away at school.

  3. Good byes are never easy! When my son was in the Navy his time at home went by much too fast. Now he is married and lives in Michigan and we live in Cincinnati. He calls me on the way to and from work. I love that he does this but not the same as being here. You're happy that their happy but you'd like them close. I'll keep you in my prayers.

  4. You have my prayers. Hugs sweet friend.

  5. I will be praying for you and for her! And how exciting that they will be coming home for a WHOLE YEAR!!!! I absolutely love Madeline's chain idea.

  6. It's so hard when they grow up and begin their own adventures, how exciting for her! Absolutely LOVED the Planet of the Apes. We actually re watched the previous ones before we went to the theater. It was so good!!!
    Have a good weekend!

  7. Goodbyes are always hard! It looks like you made some great memories while they were here. Let the countdown their return begin!!

  8. Happy they arrived safely! That must be so very hard as a mom, my heart is with you and my prayers. How crazy fast has summer gone this year! I feel like it's been a whirlwind :-) Enjoy the last few weeks and have a wonderful weekend!

  9. My heart is with you and I know you are counting the days already....I would be for sure, but knowing she is happy and loved, helps tremendously. Summer has flown by so may those 160+ days will do the same. Sending love your way, and hugs when the tears flow.

  10. Coffee Cheesecake! Oh my ~ I need a slice. I will be visiting my daughter in South Jersey in late August and I hope we go to Cheesecake Factory (there isn't one near me in NC). Your daughter's pie looks so delicious. Has she any interest in culinary school? Her recipes always look fantastic! So sad to have your daughter leave again but she will be home again in no time!

  11. It's hard when our adult children live far away, but such is life. So glad to hear that they will be coming back to stay for an entire year. You and your family always do such fun things together. I love it! My son, Josh, saw the new Planet of the Apes movie and he liked it too. Hope your weekend goes just as planned! Have a good one!

  12. Keeping you and them in prayer, Billie Jo...smiles

  13. Thanks for an AMAZING summer!!! <3

  14. Oh! Love that print of the mom and daughter on the railroad tracks! So glad they made it safely.

  15. I'm sure it is hard! What a beautiful post.

  16. Glad that you have had a wonderful time together and that the travellers are safely home once again. Enjoy the rest of your summer!

  17. Sorry catching up late. Love this - such beautiful family time. Truly the most precious cargo we carry in our hearts is our kiddos. Glad they made it safe and sound. That last photo choked me up. xoxo

  18. Hugs to you, mama! I have 14 days, one Sunday Mass, and one Saturday night Mass with my Miss Sarah left. Who's counting? ;)
Cheesecake! Did you know that Cheesecake Factory recently celebrated National Cheesecake Day?? Last night, we where there to enjoy our 1/2 price cheesecake!

  19. I was thinking of you last weekend, sending prayers your way! What a sweet "reminder". So heartfelt and true!! Loved all your photos this week! I was laughing to myself because out of the clear blue, I treated myself to Cheesecake Factory last week! I almost got the coffee cheesecake but picked the key lime instead! It was SO Good! ♥

  20. I hope Madison is setting in nicely now that she has arrived!
That cheesecake looks like a slice of heaven...I need to try it next time we stop there!
    Happy Thursday. :)
