The Best Monkey Bread. Ever.

And believe me, I've tried them all. Ok...maybe not ALL...but you get the idea. The other day I set a loaf of frozen bread dough out to thaw. For some reason, I put it on a plate instead of in the pan. Forward several hours and I realize we won't be having fresh from frozen bread. Flynn was quick to suggest a remedy for the situation. She reminded me that she has a recipe for Monkey Bread in The Disney Princess Cookbook she has. (Side note: This cookbook is amazing! ) We made it. And it was delicious. It makes a smaller amount of yumminess, which is probably a good thing for me!  Oh, and if you are wondering who Abu is...the answer is down below. : )

Abu's Monkey Bread

  1. 1 loaf frozen bread dough, thawed
  2. 1/2 cup brown sugar
  3. 1/2 cup white sugar
  4. 1 tsp. cinnamon
  5. 6 Tbsp. butter, melted
  1. Heat oven to 375 degrees. Spray a bundt or fluted tube pan.
  2. Mix the brown sugar, white sugar, and cinnamon together in a small bowl.
  3. Roll pieces of dough into melted butter, then roll into sugar mixture.
  4. Place them in prepared pan.
  5. Bake 20 to 25 minutes.
  6. Cool 10 minutes, loosen sides, and invert onto serving plate.
  7. Cool slightly, and enjoy!

Sure you do...

One glass of cold milk mandatory.

Note: I did adapt this recipe to include frozen bread dough.
The original recipe called for homemade dough.

P.S. Abu is the silly monkey friend of Aladdin. : )

  1. It does look yummy and you said homemade dough, and since I am experimenting with my bread machine, and have made a couple of loaves of dough, this will be the next one done! Thanks for sharing and have a great Wednesday....enjoy some of that monkey bread for me too!

  2. I love Monkey bread! It is our go-to for special breakfasts. How fun for you and Flynn for this experience.

  3. Wow -- that does look yummy and maybe even easy enough for me to attempt! Thanks for sharing! Love your new look on the blog!

  4. This looks amazing! My mouth is watering!!! ♥

  5. Yum, Yum, Yum....thanks Billie Jo. Have a beautiful day friend. (overcast and quite chilly here in western NY)

  6. Looks delicious, I know a couple of little girls who would love it as they are great fans of Aladdin.

  7. Abu is the cutest little monkey! Haven't watched that movie in years.
    This sounds and looks scrumptious!

The sun is shining today, the snow is melted and now we are up to our knees in mud! ;)

    Enjoy your day Billie Jo!

    Hugs, Amy

  8. Oh, it's been ages since I have had Monkey Bread! Yours looks amazing and oh-so-sweet. I must try the recipe SOON :)

    Hugs to you!

  9. I have not had this in years! I kind of forgot about it. I have a grandgirl that LOVES to bake. She is going to love trying this recipe. Thanks!!! xo Diana

  10. Flynn is going to be just like Peyton in the kitchen someday... wait! She already is!!!

  11. Oh Billie Jo, I want Abu's monkey bread! It surely looks divine! I remember cooking with my daughter from children's cookbooks. Some of them have wonderful recipes and especially Disney ones. Have a lovely afternoon. ♥

  12. I love Monkey Bread. I have tried it once before and it failed epic! I will maybe try this.

  13. Oh, yum! I love that it's named after Abu & that it's from a Disney Princess Cookbook! Sometimes children's cookbooks really do have the best recipes. When I was little we had the original American Girl Cookbook (back when there were only three dolls, Molly, Samantha, and Kirsten) and there are several recipes from that book that I STILL make to this day!
Have a great day & thanks for sharing!

  14. OK, my mouth is watering! I haven't made Monkey Bread in years, but thanks to your recipe, today could very well be THE day!

  15. OH This looks way to good to be true!

Thanks so much for saying hello!

Billie Jo
