Believe It Or Not

Every so often I like to lighten things up around here just to keep things interesting. Today I bring you a few things about me that you may not already know. In an effort to keep things real, I give you this list of absolutely true things about me. Believe it or not. : )

I have not parallel parked a car in over thirty years.
Seriously. In fact, the last time I did, I was taking my driving test.
I literally will drive around forever until I see at least two spots open up.

I have never drank a bottle of beer...

Or a glass of wine.
I am not opposed to drinking at all.
I have no problem with anyone who does enjoy drinking.
I simply do not like the taste.

This is my go to drink of choice.
Seriously. : )

I was on the golf team in high school.
Yes. Really!
And the basketball team too.
Until I gave up my athletic career to twirl a baton. : )

I do really like to ice skate.
And I am actually good at it.
At least I was, the last time I checked.

Speaking of snow and ice,
I used to have my own snowmobile.
Steve and I used to go sledding every chance we got.
We would ride trails and end up at the really old restaurant.
Can't believe it?
Me either.

As I have mentioned here before, I do have a form of Anxiety...

Health Anxiety.
It is a very difficult and serious condition that I manage with a combination of medication, mindfulness meditation, prayer, and loving support from my family and my doctors.
It also helps to laugh about it a little. : )

I have never seen this movie.
Never one moment of it.
Despite my love of all things Christmas, I really don't think I want to.
Go figure.

Now this one...
I have watched this movie an estimated one hundred times.
And  I still love it.
Again. Go figure.

Alright.
There you are.
Just a few things you now know about me.
Whether you wanted to or not. : )

Feel free to share some about yourselves, my friends!
I'll be waiting.

  1. Oh gosh! We are the same for parallel parking!! And, I personally really really hate (and yes I recognize that's a strong word but that is truly how I feel) It's A Wonderful Life. I hope you continue not seeing it! I am impressed by your golfing and snowmobiling! I have honestly never done either!

  2. I don't parallel park either! The funny thing is, I purchased It's a Wonderful life on Amazon Video, and still have yet to watch it. I may try to watch it in July. (for Christmas in July) Funny, because I love Christmas too. I do like the movie White Christmas. I have never snow mobiled. I also suffer from Anxiety, and take medication that has it under control. I love this post because it helps me to get to know you better! I consider you a friend, even though I've never met you in real life. Hugs to you. Juli

  3. I enjoyed reading this interesting facts about you, Billie Jo! And I am the exact same way about parallel parking. I can't and won't do it! Luckily there are very few times when it is even an issue. I'm sorry to hear about your anxiety. I'll be praying for you!

  4. I really enjoyed this, I am shocked that you have never seen a wonderful life? I am such a scardy pants when it comes to horror movies. I am not making fun but I couldn't help chuckle at the anxiety at night as soon as you go to bed. I don't suffer from it but I hold this type of conversation in my head for -every pain! Oh a chest pain? am I having a heart attack?- on my side is that my kidneys? where are my kidneys? Should I go to the hospital? a funky feeling on my feet-Is this shingles or are those on your shins? Where does dad get them? Is it to late to call him? What time is it in California? and don't get me started on my headaches I get migraines and think at any moment I'm going to have a brain aneurism - seriously because this is how my oldest sister died. then the whole Last will & Testament drill goes over in my head...and that's how I get two hours of sleep...like a boss! :::insert eye roll here::: I admire you for your courage dealing with anxiety I don't think I could be as strong, Keeping you in my prayers.

  5. parallel parking...I have never done it. Somehow I missed out on it during drivers ed. Not quite sure how, but I won't complain. Anxiety...yes... driving makes me anxious. I only drive in my little area and avoid the interstate at all cost. Small talk and meeting new people also makes me anxious. We are searching for a new church that has sent my anxiety into overdrive. Yes, I have issues! :)

  6. We share a lot in common, Billie Jo. I don't like beer, but I will occasionally have a glass of wine at a celebration and end up giving the rest to my husband! Also don't like to parallel park, especially when someone's looking! Avoiding it is my game plan. Clever post! ♥

  7. Hi Billie Jo I wanted to stop by to tell you how much I appreciate your prayers for my surgery last Monday. Diana posted a prayer request on her blog and I am full of gratitude! I am slowly recovering but wanted you to know how very much I appreciate you thinking of me. :-) Your friendship means a lot to me. You've never seen It's a Wonderful Life???!!! i'm shocked.. it's one of my favorites ;-) It's worth watching I promise, lol. Have a great week.

    Blessings,
    Jill

  8. Parallel parking is not my forte either -- or left-turning. I can usually come up with a different route to avoid left turns in traffic! And interstate driving -- severe anxiety over that -- so much so that I take a 2-lane highway sometimes to avoid the interstate! :) Horror movies scare me too much -- I can't even watch Dateline anymore! ;) You're simply adorable! Have a great week!

  10. I parallel-parked for my test in 1976...have not done it since. Though I do adore "It's a Wonderful Life" and hate horror films.

  11. I am with you on parallel parking. Whenever I try to parallel park, I get self-conscious of the cars behind me give up and drive away. I have never drank and have never watched It's a Wonderful Life either.

  12. Parallel parking...nope! I'm just like you, will drive blocks to find an easier way! ;)
Beer is nasty! But I do love a good mudslide once a year! Dr. Pepper is my favorite soda!
Anxiety starts in when I have to shop at Wal-Mart...That place is just plain awful! ;)
I can't ice skate, but I did play golf, basketball and volleyball in high school, I loved it until it got way to competitive for this quiet girl.
I've seen Its a Wonderful Life and once is enough. But, I love a good mystery movie...
Great post! Thanks for sharing a little of you....

    Hugs my friend!
    Amy

  13. Parallel parking, I'm with you. I'd rather drive around until something opens up. I'm also not against walking long distances to avoid parallel parking. Did you really twirl a baton? I was in a baton corp for 3 years; marched in parades, the whole works! Okay, so you've never seen It's a Wonderful Life, I can see that. But you don't want to?! That surprises me. That Halloween movie?? No, thank you. Never seen it, never will.

  14. So many the same and so many different for me! Yes to the wine and beer, but I have never snowmobiled or watched Its a Wonderful Life! Oh and the brain thing, totally, this morning there I was 5am! One thing I am afraid I will not be joining you with is the Halloween movie, but isn't it so great that we are all different!

  15. It's so much fun to read posts like this and learn more about sweet blogging Besties you feel you already know. ;) I think I remember a few of these things about you from the past - but interesting to learn some new things as well! Like about the ice skating, snowmobiling, and alcohol. I don't know if I could live without a great glass of wine now and then! Lol

PS: I swear I'm going to watch Halloween this Fall. I haven't watched that movie since I was a teenager! But you really make me want to see it. But only if you watch It's a Wonderful Life. One of the best holiday movies out there! Lol!!

    xoxo

  16. I love a little real talk! I'm with you on so many of these! No way to parallel parking. Until about 5 years ago I hated driving on the freeway. Luckily I got over it, but I prefer life in the slow lane if you know what I mean! (FYI Rob drives like Mario Andretti!) I have never drank an entire beer either. I have a faint memory of having a sip once and I hated it. That was that. I very rarely drink any alcohol. It's just not for me. I have been known to show up at parties with a coffee in hand. I'm not kidding (yup, I'm a real party animal:) I have seen It's a Wonderful Life and I really like it. Some people in my life think it's weird that I've never seen the Godfather and have no desire to either. I love picturing you playing golf, basketball, and skating! And snowmobiling with Steve! That's great! I've never been very sporty. I was the kid at school who hated gym. I was more the arts and crafts type (again, party animal...) Rob skis and I did briefly try to learn. I'll leave it at that ♥ Loved reading all these things about you! How many months till Halloween? I did know that's your favorite! xx

  17. Oh yes, I will drive around so I don't have to parallel park. I also will drive around until I find a spot next to a cart return station.
