These Are Some Of My Favorite Days

Certain groups of days make me extra happy. Take the week between Christmas and New Year's. I love those days! The work is done. We are all together. And with the exception of Steve going to work for a bit, and a trip out to Mass, we stay at home visiting, playing games, and simply relaxing. Bliss.

I also love the days we spend at the beach. Those days are so relaxing. Whether we are down at the beach, bowling, eating special doughnuts, or my favorite...just being together in the condo watching TV...we enjoy the time we spend together.

And then...there are these days. Every year, for a few glorious days in October, the trees treat us to the most radiant display of colors imaginable. The sun shines, the air cools, and we spend as much time as we can outside, committing the view to memory before it fades as quickly as it appeared. Every year is different and some are better than others. It is always a guessing game as to when exactly the leaves will turn. The way the reds, purples, oranges, and yellows appear overnight is simply magical. And every single year, I tell the kids to enjoy. For soon it will be but a memory.

I try to capture this beauty with my camera, although I could never do it justice. In any case, these are some of my favorite days. And I wait all year for the few days every year our home is surrounded in God given color.

What are some of your favorite days?
I'd love to hear about them.
Have a cozy day, my friends!!

  1. What a beautiful post, my friend. I so enjoyed seeing your autumn glory. We have a lot of Aspen trees here and they turn to a brilliant gold and once in a while there will be a patch of bright red/orange mixed in the gold - what glorious beauty!

Thank you for making my morning extra lovely. Hugs to you!

  4. Oh your leaves are starting to turn... squeal! The week between Christmas and New Years, the first week of summer vacation just being home because ALL has stopped, the last week of July because of our anniversary, and now, now is pretty good too!

We've had some change a lot already and pile on our hill - and some only beginning to turn. It seems a mild long Fall...which I am loving! EAch day!

  8. I somehow missed this post yesterday. I love when the leaves change. We've had so much rain here this fall that I fear our colors aren't going to be spectacular. So many leaves have just fallen off green all over the place.

  10. Summer days! Summer days are days to sleep in, or get up early and sit on the porch, they are days to go anywhere with no particular agenda.....missing summer already!

  11. These are for sure some of my favorite days. But I actually really love the time around Easter to Mother's Day. Spring and New life happening. All the pretty bright or pastel colors. The special time of Easter. Getting to be outdoors since the weather becomes nicer. Flowers blooming. Bird Nest. Yummy salads, pasta's, and cute sandwiches. I love Mother's Day as well.

  12. Your photos are beautiful! I can't wait for the tree in our yards leaves to turn. In Kansas our days have still felt pretty warm, but our mornings and evenings we have the crisp cool fall air. I hope you have a nice weekend. Hugs. Juli

  13. The pictures of your days are just glorious! I love them too. My favorites are the cozy week between Christmas and New Years - we try not to work and stay home in our Christmas jammies - watching movies and enjoying the last days of the Christmas tree. I get happy just thinking about it. I'm looking forward to snow days where we are "forced" to stay home and drink hot chocolate all day (twist my arm : ). I love the day after Thanksgiving when the house still smells like turkey and stuffing and also that first week of summer vacation. It's such a wonderful feeling to have the whole entire summer ahead of you. I guess when I think of it every season has it's own special times, but my very favorites are the ordinary days at home. Just like today ♥ Happy Friday! Have a wonderful weekend! xoxoxo

    Happy weekend!

  15. Hello Billie Jo,
Such lovely autumn colors. We don't get the spender of autumn so much here, just a few patches a brilliant color now and then, more so if we take a drive up to the mountains. Speaking of that, we need to make an Apple Hill trip, one of my favorite family traditions for fall.
    Have a cozy weekend,
    ♥Hope
