Not My Mother's Goulash

Ok. It's my sister's. But it is simple and delicious. When I was first married, I called my sister Scarlett and asked her if she had my mom's recipe for Goulash. I guess my mom wasn't home? Anyway...she didn't. But she gave me her recipe. And that is the one we have loved for almost 25 years. : )
 Goulash
Ingredients
  1. One pound ground beef
  2. Garlic Salt
  3. Italian Seasoning
  4. One onion and one green pepper, chopped
  5. Three eight ounce cans Hunt's Tomato Sauce
  6. One and one half pound macaroni...elbow or whatever you have on hand.
  7. Shredded mozzarella cheese
Directions
  1. Brown the ground beef with garlic salt. Drain well.
  2. Meanwhile, boil water and cook macaroni according to directions.
  3. Add the chopped onion and pepper and the tomato sauce to the meat.
  4. Season with Italian seasoning, stir, and cover.
  5. Cook while the noodles are boiling, and until veggies are tender.
  6. Add drained macaroni noodles and stir well.
  7. Top with Mozzarella cheese and let melt. : )
  8. Serve with fresh bread and applesauce.

  1. We enjoy goulash too and our recipe is very similar. It makes a lot and good as a leftover the next day. Have a good Friday my friend.

  7. Yum! Sounds a lot like what my in-law's always referred to as "spaghetti hot dish", even though it never had spaghetti and always had macaroni noodles. Lol Thanks for this recipe and hope you have a wonderful cozy weekend!! xo

  9. My mother used to make this a lot. I have no clue what happened to her recipe but yours seems familiar. This is a great dish for this cooler weather we're having so I'll definitely be making it!
