Christmas Eve Preparations

Christmas Eve...perhaps our very favorite day of the year. There is just something about the anticipation that makes the day so magical. : ) During the day we stay in jammies and follow Santa on the  Norad Santa Tracker. In the late afternoon, we start to get ready for the most special night of the year.  I try to have everything ready and waiting so we can just sit back and enjoy the day. Here is what we do on Christmas Eve...

We light our Christmas Eve candle that only burns this one day of the year...

We mix up our Reindeer food to sprinkle on the lawn...

We attend a beautiful Christmas Eve Mass, then come home and change into special Christmas Eve pajamas...and yes, I miss the days when they all would match...

We sing Happy Birthday to Baby Jesus...

We read the Night Before Christmas... from a special book brought from The North Pole...

and we set out cookies for Santa on our special Santa plate.

Then some of us snuggle into bed with dreams of the morning, and others sit in the quiet of the most holy night of the year, and watch the Christmas tree lights glisten. : )

Have a wonderful Christmas Eve, my friends...with whatever traditions you hold dear.  : )

  7. Family traditions are very important. I think the love of the Lord shared through these traditions hold a family together.

  9. Christmas Eve has been my favorite day of the year for as long as I can remember. I remember looking forward to going to my Grandmothers and then Christmas Eve Mass and then coming home to change into our PJs.

Christmas Eve Mass is just beautiful....candles everywhere and all the excitement as we prepare to celebrate the birth of Jesus. Oh I cry every year.

We do the same here as I did growing up. We attend Christmas Eve Mass then go to my moms for dinner and gifts. Once home we prepare a plate for Santa and sprinkle the grass with reindeer food.

    Merry Christmas!

  11. What fun Christmas Eve traditions! We read the exact same Night Before Christmas book. We make special cookies for Santa and set out carrots for the reindeer. Oh, and start 24 hours of A Christmas Story. The kids go to bed early and Sean and I get stuck putt I ng together toys and last minute wrapping. Can't wait for the Christmas fun! Merry Christmas to you and your family. God bless!

  12. We have the same exact Night Before Christmas book! We will actually be reading ours tonight, as we have another one with the Christmas story from the Bible (interspersed with carols) that we read on Christmas Eve. My kids are so excited that Christmas Eve is tomorrow. :)
