What's Inside My November Folder

November is here. I love November. It is a calm quiet prelude to a much busier and more social December. I also love Thanksgiving, and vow to keep it a special day for family and home. So here is my November folder...

And here is what's inside...

The first thing inside is the November poem.

Clyde Watson
November comes
And November goes,
With the last red berries
And the first white snows.
With night coming early,
And dawn coming late,
And ice in the bucket
And frost by the gate.
The fires burn
And the kettles sing,
And earth sinks to rest
Until next spring.
The next thing inside is my list of things to do this month.
November
  1. Finalize Flynn and Madison Birthdays.
  2. Flynn- well child check up
  3. Ornament Day
  4. Flynn-picture
  5. Thanksgiving menu
  6. Finalize Christmas outfits
  7. Decorate for Christmas
I also have a handwritten list from a friend of mine. She wrote out step by step directions for me on how to cook a Thanksgiving turkey. She did this years ago when I told her I had never cooked one! : ) I also have some prayers and activities for Thanksgiving that we have accumulated over the years.

So that is what is inside my November folder, my friends. What do you have planned for this late autumn month?

  1. I love this post! Thank you for sharing. ---I have lists Billie Jo...lots of lists, lol. I have my Thanksgiving menu list, the dishware list, the napkin list, ( I know..I guess I am OCD, according to my husband, his family could careless what plate they eat on and cloth napkins to use.), and so on. I love to cook, love to bake, so the lists are very real to me. Organization is the key. I am also thinking ahead to how set up the Christmas villages and where to set it up. My husband & boy wonder are in charge of the outside, and I am charge of the inside decorating. Blessings

  3. I always love your "What's in my _________ Folder"! I really should start making a master to-do list for each month…such a great idea!!! And I loved that poem! I am going to use it the Resource Room on Wednesday with my kiddos. We started a poetry writing unit for Thanksgiving and have been reading different poems about the seasons…Fall…Thanksgiving…etc. Have a lovely Tuesday!

  4. I really need to start some sort of monthly list. My fly-by-the-seat-of-my-pants approach leaves a lot to be desired.

  5. I love your monthly folders. We are looking forward to Thanksgiving and then beginning to get ready for Christmas. It's about time too, to get the family Christmas cards and letters ready--we send though out right after Thanksgiving. I love this post! Happy November!

  6. I don't have a November folder, but I do have an Advent Binder. I even have a reminder in it to purchase my Advent wreathe candles :) LOL. November is going to pass quickly I'm afraid. Have a great Wednesday!

  7. I love your folders and lists. One of my to do's in November is always to make sure the Advent things are on the tops of the Christmas boxes, not underneath a bunch of stuff we won't get out until December. One thing I want to add to November this year is talking to the boys about Veterans Day (and doing some sort of little craft) because two of their great-grandpas and two of their uncles are veterans.
