Our Autumn Porch

We love our porch in the summer. We really love our porch in the fall. From our porch, we can watch as the leaves slowly change from summer's green to autumn's red, orange, yellow, and gold. I change the porch a little bit to reflect the change in seasons. One thing that doesn't change...mornings with coffee and my people.

Our September Porch

Tucked between the bright colors of August and the pumpkins and cornstalks of October sits our cozy September porch. We love to sit there and watch the green around us become shades of crimson, red, purple, yellow, orange, and gold. Sometimes we need a sweater or light blanket, but that makes it all the more cozy, don't you think?

If You Need Me This Summer...

This is where I'll be. Where we will all be, most likely. The front porch. During the cool autumn days and evenings, and throughout those long, blustery winter days and nights, we are happy to be snuggled up cozy in our country home. Once the warm mornings of summer arrive and stretch into those long and lazy days of summer and then into the quiet, comfortable evenings...we open the door and make ourselves at home on the porch. This year I did a simple redo on the front porch. It is now less cluttered, brighter, and cozier. And that is were we shall spend our fleeting summer months...enjoying the vivid green grass and rolling mountains that surround us, staring at the bright blue sky filled with billowy, white clouds, sipping coffee and tea, reading and rocking, talking and visiting, watching our little one chase bubbles in the front yard during the day and count stars in a glistening sky at night. And we will be together. : )

And the sweet wicker rocker that once belonged to my grandfather...when he was but a little farm boy...

Steve and Peyton still prefer the rockers...

Porches Aren't Just For Summer Anymore

Or maybe they never were. In any case, we switched out our patriotic themed front porch this past week to reflect the welcome change to crisper, cooler, more vibrant autumn weather. And honestly, we enjoy it just as much. Now as we sit and enjoy our morning coffee, we gaze at the mountains and watch as the slowly begin to reveal their glorious colors. Sometimes we need a throw or a light sweater, but that makes it all the more cozy. Soon enough we will close the door tightly against the blowing and drifting snow, but for now, we are enjoying these last few weeks out on the front porch.

This Makes Me Happy...Our Autumn Porch

Autumn brings beautiful weather and amazing colors to our part of the world. As much as I enjoy sitting on our front porch during the beautiful summer months, I enjoy it that much more in autumn. Perhaps it is the slightly cooler mornings or the slowly changing shades of the leaves from vibrant green to glorious hues of red, yellow, purple, and orange, and finally to assorted muted browns before falling to the ground yet again. Whatever the reason, spending time on our autumn porch always makes me happy. : )

Another Peek At My Front Porch

Summer is here. And I want to show you where we are spending our days. Our front porch is an extension of our home. In Pennsylvania, we can use our porch from around May until October. And use it we do. So here is a peek at our front porch...wish you all could join us here. : )
