What's Inside My Purse

I switched out my purse yesterday. I took everything out of my blue winter bag, went through all the items, and promptly put (almost) everything right back in my Disney spring and summer bag. Madison suggested I share with you some of the things I keep inside, and because I rely heavily on my firstborn for advice, I am doing just that. I will spare you pictures of the typical purse things...my wallet, my keys, my oversized pack of disinfecting wipes...and focus on the important things: cosmetics!

A Peek Inside...Our Summer Bedroom

Have I ever told you how much I love Zulily? I find things there I didn't even know I was looking for! For example, I love the quilt I had on my bed, but it is heavy and not the best for summer. One day, I found a plain, light, quilted bedspread  on Zulily and because the price was so awesome...I ordered it. And I love it! I didn't realize how dark my other one was, and how this lighter one brightens up the room. And change is good once in awhile, don't you think?  : )

A Peek Inside...Or At...The Top Of My Dresser

Because I just cleaned it really well. This is my special spot...the place I keep my special things. Not at all like my bedside table...that's a hot mess most of the time...cellphone and charger, tissues, books, etc. But my dresser. And it makes me happy.

My dresser. All clean and tidy.
Now the inside?
That's another story.

Here is the top...And some of my very favorite photos hung behind.
( I really should have taken a "Before" photo.
But who wants to see mounds of dust, right? )

A card a very special friend sent me when my dad passed.
It was much too pretty to store away, so I framed it...

My Madison got me this beautiful tray to keep my rings and earrings on, and I use it every single day...

This.
I don't wear any other perfume. Ever.
It smells...good. Just good.
Not floral, or musky, or fruity...just good.
And another reason I love it?
My kids say it smells like "Mom".
When Madison returned home from Denmark at Christmas, she hugged me and said that I smelled so good. I smelled like Mom...

I bought myself this little bracelet tree on Etsy.
Because I had all those bracelets in a pile.
Which meant I never wore them.
Also...the pile of books waiting their turn...
And a sweet little sign sent from a very dear friend...

The dried roses I saved from my father's funeral sit beneath the photo I took of the last time I held his hand.
I am so thankful I thought to snap that photo that day.

And there you are.
Because I know you always wondered what was on the top of my dresser.
Ok. Maybe not. : )

Feel free to share your's sometime, my friends.
Thanks for visiting!

A Peek Inside...Our Schoolroom 2016

Things are changing in our little schoolroom, my friends. Madison officially relinquished her desk to me...and my little kindergarten student is now in First Grade! I took this opportunity to revisit my pre-motherhood days, and decided to recreate an actual classroom this year. Well, as close as I could with one, however quite eager, student. Peyton and Rhett are always so agreeable, and despite the fact that an actual high school classroom may not look quite so...festive...are quite alright with it. So here are a few pictures of our schoolroom this year...

Here is the view as you see it from the foyer...

Our old Preschool/Kindergarten area is now a storage and display area for manipulatives, writing paper, books, puzzles, and games.

In the middle of the room, her little table is all ready for Arts and Crafts...

And right in front of that...her first ever desk...a gift from a friend...is all ready for the first day!

Of course I put my favorite...ok, only...student right beside my desk. : )

My desk...which oddly enough...is set up almost exactly as it was 20 some years ago.

Peyton and Rhett are all set to go as well.

The teacher in me is rejoicing over brand new white chalk. : )

And I am just as happy with the brand new month of September all ready to begin.

And although we don't officially begin our new year until next week, we are more than ready to start learning, living, and laughing together.

Prayers and love to all of you, my friends...
That each one of our children will have a happy, healthy, productive school year.
That we, as parents and teachers will bless them with our guidance and support.
And that God will guide us day after day in our efforts.
Have a blessed and wonderful school year, my friends!

A Peek Inside...Our January Schoolroom

A new year means a fresh start. So our schoolroom got a good cleaning and a fresh look for January. We spend our days here, learning and laughing together, cozy and warm and safe inside away from the bitter winter cold. And that makes me both happy and content.

My little one has suddenly gone from letters and colors and shapes to learning sight words and reading booklets and counting coins!

But finger-painting will always be part of the curriculum...

as will story time. : )

This is our favorite January book. If you haven't read it to your littles, please do. : )

Happy January, my friends!

A Peek Inside...Our Schoolroom 2015

Few things in life make me as happy as a new school year. I get so excited to roll up my sleeves, scrub the schoolroom and begin putting it together all fresh and new for a brand new start. Here is a peek inside our little homeschool room this year for my Sophomore Peyton, Eighth Grader Rhett, and Kindergarten student Flynn. : )

This is the view from the foyer...

Her books, my manuals and lesson plan book, and a few small motor skill activities are here...

with baskets full of manipulatives and accessories below.
I found all the furniture at Pottery Barn, and it has held up beautifully.

And of course...an official name tag this year. : )

The sweet little spot where we will spend our days...

Peyton and Rhett moved their desks this year...

and are all set to go with computers and books ready. : )

We couldn't leave out our Madison. Although she graduated in June, we are hoping she spends some time with us here visiting...so we left her desk for her. Although she did get moved from the prime window location. ; )

And that's that!
A little tour of our little space where we learn and laugh together.
School starts for us Monday...
Prayers for all for a happy, healthy, successful new school year. : )
