All The Things This Week

Happy Friday, my friends! And can you believe it? This is Memorial Day Weekend! We have no plans for the weekend, and I am happy as can be about that. This week has been beautiful here in Maryland, allowing for early morning walks and even homeschooling on the porch. I felt a little like Snow White while I was walking, with so many creatures stopping to say hello.

Totally not an actual image of me on my walk.

Actual images of all the creatures I met this week.

In other news, Flynn started her very first job this week! She is so excited to be working at a local smoothie restaurant, and after her first day, she came home so happy! I am proud of her and look forward to watching her learn, grow, and make new friends.

This is another reason I love homeschooling. We can work around her job and even do afternoon school on the porch. Porches aren't for iced coffee breaks anymore! But I highly recommend it.

And lastly, we celebrated Rhett's birthday this week! The one who brought Tonka trucks and endless laughter to our family turned twenty-four. Rhett is such an amazing young man. He is such a sensitive, fun, hardworking, and caring person, and brings so much joy to our family. I am so thankful God chose me to be his mom.

I surprised him with fudge, like I used to when he was little.

He requested smashburgers and Madison's macaroni and cheese for dinner...

And his very favorite...Sara Lee All Butter Pound Cake with strawberries and vanilla ice cream for dessert.

We laughed because the pound cake looked so funny with the candles!

Well, time to get going. I am going to have some breakfast and get going with my day. I have laundry, homeschooling, and some vacuuming to do today. If it rains all day, I may sneak in an afternoon nap, too. Have a wonderful weekend, my friends. Thank you for visiting. I always apprecoate when you.

Billie Jo

  5. Congrats to Flynn! Working opened a new world to my shy, introverted, homeschooled daughter. She now has a group of five really great girls to hang out with because of that job. I hope Flynn has just as great an experience!

  9. Your snapshot with the homeschool text books got my attention. "Friendly Chemistry." Can that even be possible?!!! I barely escaped the class once in high school and again in college. Awfully hard. Perhaps if I had been homeschooled it would have left a better impression on me.

  12. Yay for Flynn and her job! That is such a big step for our kids isn't it? I started working at 15 and I was full-time from 15 years old onwards until retirement.
Your family. Such an inspiration to us all. The food looks delicious and the love even more. Happy 24th Rhett!
I loved your companions on our walk. How fun to have such a diverse crew keeping you company. We had rain here off and on all day and I didn't leave the condo. It was perfect.
    Blessings and hugs,
    Betsy

  15. First jobs are such a good experience for teenagers - they learn what they like as well as what they don't like. The food always looks so good at your house! And that's about the easiest and prettiest birthday dessert I have seen. (:

  16. How fun that she got to enjoy her first job!!! It seems like you have amazing kiddos. We love finishing up homeschooling days by being outdoors! And I love the photos from your walk! What type of bird was the first, the black one with orange on its wings? That doesn't look familiar and must not be in our area. It was nice catching up with you today!

Yay for Flynn’s first job and yay for Rhett’s birthday - a busy month! “Friendly Chemistry “ makes me smile - that was a tough subject for me - not friendly at all! Enjoy the day, take time for you, I always love visiting.
