Hello, my friends! We are home, unpacked, and filled to the brim with the magical memories of our family trip to Disney! We had the most wonderful time together, and enjoyed all the magic that is Disney so very much. There is something special about being in Disney World. When you are there, it is as if the world outside doesn't exist. And for a bit, we can simply spend time together, experiencing the magic that makes us all young again. This is a long one, so pour a cup, have a seat, and settle in for some Disney magic!
Although I will not be able to adequately summarize our trip properly here on this page, I will document some of the many moments we captured so that one day we can look back and remember the time we all went to Disney World together. It was magical, so very fun, hot, relaxing, exciting, and comforting. I remember when we went to Disney with little ones, clutching autograph books, anxiously waiting for Cinderella, Mickey, Donald, or Belle. I remember pushing a stroller with Flynn and us eating cookies while everyone else rode the "Big Kids" rides. I remember afternoon naps in comfy hotel beds, watching Mickey cartoons. And I couldn't imagine a time when we would come to Disney without little ones, who seem to make the magic come true. I realize now, however, that older children are a whole new kind of magic, and spending time with them in Disney World is just as much fun, if not more! Watching my children share their love of Disney with the people they love is amazing. And watching these incredible adults experiencing all the fun together is a dream come true. And a dream is a wish your heart makes, right?
All set to go to Magic Kingdom! We are missing Nicolas in this one, as he came a couple of days later.
Most every morning, I took the short walk to the pool and enjoyed my coffee, my book, and the quiet. Sometimes, Madison and Nicolas joined me.
Did I mention the iced coffee???
Each day was filled with fun parks, afternoon naps, shows, fireworks, parades, amazing food, and evening swims. Steve and I stayed back a couple of times to rest and recover!
This was the new Epic Universe at Universal. The Dark Universe was my favorite. It is filled with rides, shops, and food that celebrate the original classic Universal monsters like Frankenstein, Dracula, and the Wolf Man.
My children. Or as they refer to themselves, The Core Four!
Shout-out to these two, who meticulously planned and booked all the Lightning Lane passes for the popular rides and organized each day so we could make the most of all the fun!
Sometimes we got cleaned up for a night out. This night we went to a favorite dinner show, The Hoop De Do Revue.
Steve and I even danced to celebrate our 35th Anniversary coming up next month. You know how much I love being the center of attention, right?!?!
We attended a beautiful Mass at Mary, Queen of the Universe, where you could purchase a rose in memory of your mother and place it on the altar. Steve and I chose white for our mothers.
We always watch the fireworks on our very last night. Magic Kingdom is where we start each vacation, and where we end as well. It is always a little sad saying goodbye, but as I used to tell my children when they were little, it is time for another family to have a turn. And we will be back, someday.
Oh! Rhett caught up with his favorite right before we left the resort!
And that is a wrap on Disney, my friends. Thank you for hanging around this long. I am anxious to settle in for some good old normal life now, here in Maryland. I plan on catching up with you this weekend, too. I hope all is well, and have a magical weekend!
Billie Jo
I think google might actually let me comment! Love seeing all the vacation pictures!! You have such a beautiful family!! Loved all this!!
ReplyDeleteNot Bossy here! What wonderful memories you have built! I love it!
ReplyDeleteWow that was quite a vacation. Glad you all had such a great time!!!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful photos! I've been waiting for you to get back to see them! What fun! Iced coffee is always good for a hot day. Happy Anniversary! Neat roses and church. One of my (married) kids lived a half hour from there and do you believe I've never gone...only to Disney Springs shopping. (Now they live 45 minutes away as they moved, but they have annual passes).

I live 45 minutes from Disney (and Universal and Sea World). When we first moved here 36 years ago, we had season passes for all of the parks (for 10/12 years!), including Busch Gardens in Tampa. I am just over and done with the cost and the crowds now that I am older and the kids and grandkids don't care anymore. I think it's different when you live this close and have been five times too many. Disney tickets were $25.00 a day when we first moved here!! Now, a day pass is two-week's groceries. It's just different when you live so close and have been there so many times. It was fun seeing your photos and all the fun and love in your smiles!! Welcome home and thanks for sharing your family time with us!! xo
ReplyDeleteWhat a magical time!!!!! I loved seeing all the memories and the joy in the pictures!!!!
ReplyDeleteHow lovely. I lived in Palm Harbor so before I moved back to Indy, my daughter and I stayed at The Contemporary. Only time I went while living there but have been to DW many times traveling from the north. My daughter’s family goes even with adult kids and loves it. Worth every penny. A magical place making memories. Some of our best memories were made in Mickey’s home when raising our kids and then with grands. My daughter and her husband did Disneyland last year to celebrate 30 th anniversary. So happy for you. What a great choice for a family gathering. I know folks think it is expensive but compared to what everything else costs, making memories has no price tag. Thank you for sharing with us. . Bb
ReplyDeleteIt looks like you have had a wonderful time at Disney. We took our kids to Disneyland when we lived in Washington State. It was closer. :-) We had a wonderful five days there and loved it. We've never been to Disneyland but I would especially love to visit Harry Potter's things and Hogwarts. We've been to Station 9 3/4 in London and had a blast. I'm so glad you are able to do these things with your kids. Memories are being made that will last a lifetime.
ReplyDeleteI smiled at the name of the church. My name is Mary Queen. :-) When we first moved to Spokane, the place we voted was Mary Queen Catholic Church. It was crazy trying to convince the elderly ladies at the polling table that I was named that. They were sure I was confused about the name of the place. My name has been interesting.
Blessings and hugs,
Betsy
Looks like you were able to tuck away so wonderful memories! Glad it was a memorable trip. :)
ReplyDeleteI am so glad you had a wonderful time. I have been to Disney with kids and grandkids and by myself and with my grandgirl that attended Disney College there. I have so many fond memories of Disney World. I am glad you do, too. It's a happy place! Hugs- Diana
ReplyDeleteWhat a truly wonderful family vacation! I love that you took us along to share the magic through your pictures. Have a good weekend. See you again soon!
ReplyDeleteLooks like you had a nice time, my friend! Wishing you a beautiful day.
ReplyDeleteOh yes, Disney with teens/young adults is so different from trips with littles but still equally fun! It looks like you had such a lovely and magical trip.
ReplyDeleteI thought of you several times this past week as I remembered you were taking time away from blogging at Disney World. Looks like you had a wonderful, wonderful time, well-planned and thoroughly enjoyed. Glad to have you back now!
ReplyDeleteI know it was a wonderful trip, made even better with the wonderful company!
ReplyDeleteNow rest!
I love all of the pictures. It sounds like you all had a wonderful time together making memories. I hope you have a relaxing cozy weekend.
ReplyDeleteLooks like some fun family time. I have never been a Disney devotee, but it looks like you guys made the most of your time there!
ReplyDeleteLooks like an amazing time!!! So glad you enjoyed it! :)
ReplyDeletePS - I love that the housedress is fabulous even in Disney! xx
You got such awesome photos!! Some favorites are the fireworks over the castle, the flamingoes under the palms, the beautiful mural with the horses, and you & Steve dancing. You did a wonderful job of fitting so much into this one post. Of course, I would not mind even a few more posts!
ReplyDeleteDisney, the happy place! That Harry Potter drink looks refreshing. Love the picture of Rhett and Donald Duck. And I enjoyed seeing all the exotic animals. Those flamingos! The light-up shows are fabulous. And what a sweet idea to put a rose on the church alter for the mothers. Fun times and smiles all around. Nel and Jess are a hop, skip, and a jump from Disneyland, so they visit every month! It really is one of the happiest places, isn't it? Glad you all had a grand time Billie Jo!
ReplyDelete*I forgot to mention those sweet dance photos of you and Steve. How dear they are. : )
DeleteSo much fun! You got some priceless photos of your trip, and made incredible memories! And your Anniversary dance, I'm glad your kids got a picture of that. Very special. Thank you for sharing it all with us! Glad you had a great time!
ReplyDeleteWow - I feel as though I were along for the ride!
ReplyDeleteWelcome home! It looks like a magical time! What a great adventure and making memories while everyone is old enough to actually remember :) I hope you're getting settled into your home now and feeling cozy. I love coming home after being on a trip.
ReplyDeleteWell, first I'll say I'm glad you are back because the blogging world is sad when you aren't around (or maybe that's just my opinion). Looks like a magical time and a beautiful family to experience it with. We took the kids when they were in 2nd and 5th grade and I wish we could go back. My husband isn't so much a fan (mostly because of the cost) but it would be a dream to do it again. I'm glad you made it home safe. The pictures are amazing!
ReplyDeleteEach and every photo was thoroughly enjoyed Billie Jo. Back in the early 80s we lived half an hour from Disney and had family passes for the full two years we lived there. We had a lot of fun taking family and friends. You have made very special memories here, a joy to see.
ReplyDeleteLove this so much my Friend! Seeing the joy you all still share in such a magical place. It brings back such great memories of our Disney trips through the years with the kiddos. And Matt and I went with Annie and her Kristopher this past January to Epic Universe and just loved it! I had the least expectation in the dark universe but loved it too! We toured that part at sunset/twilight and was so perfect with the ambiance and castle there. That spinny roller coaster and monsters unchained rides were crazy! I think it's so special the ways you all continue to make memories as a family - especially as it continues to grow. Blessings on your week and getting settle back to normal life. 💗
ReplyDeleteOh, what wonderful pictures from your trip!! I love them all! It looks like everyone had such a wonderful time together. I love your Mickey ears! I have a picture somewhere of my brother and I together at Disney when I was thirteen or fourteen years old wearing Mickey ears! So fun! My favorite picture just might be of you and Steve dancing together. It's so sweet!! I hope you are having a nice start to your week, dear friend.🩷
