Good Monday morning! I hope that if Winter Storm Fern paid you a visit this weekend, you are safe and sound, cozy and warm. We were initially forecast to receive an excessive amount of snow here, so when I awoke yesterday around 6:30, I got up, made my coffee, and settled in, anxious to watch the snow fall as soon as the light of day appeared. I am certainly glad I did. This is what I saw. After a few more flakes and a small amount of ice, everything turned to rain. While I was disappointed, I also acknowledge that we were spared the shoveling, plowing, and power outages that so many are dealing with. If that is you, I hope you are back to normal as soon as possible.
Aside from the mass on Saturday night, we canceled all our plans. This translates to a weekend of games played together. Did you know that you can play Boggle and Pictionary with your family on Netflix? You just connect and use your phone. It is so fun! There was also reading (me), watching football (others), and napping (also me). I also finally hung the family pictures that have been in a big plastic tote since we moved in last August! I don't have a kitchen wall for them, but this one near the steps works well for everyone who came before us. These are my parents, grandparents, and great-grandparents. Steve's parents are there also. I love having these people right near me as I go about my day.
I often share our dinners here, but did you know, we also eat lunch?? I have this thing that I become fixated on a particular meal and eat it every day for as long as I can. This is the current selection.
Another thing I share here is the beautiful sunrises. Did you know we also have sunsets???
Well, that is all for this morning. I am going to pour another cup of coffee and sit by the fire for a few minutes, just like my parents used to do. Just themselves, the quiet, and some hot coffee by a fire. Social media, cell phones, streaming services, and polarizing news media were not yet available to intrude on the cozy little life they had created. Imagine that.
Have a cozy Monday, my friends. Stay warm!
BillieJo

I love sitting with my coffee in the quiet. My parents always did that too and it feels good. I love sunrises and sunsets too. I receive pictures often from family members because they know how much I love them. We had an icy weekend but now it is just cold, thankfully the sun is shining. Enjoy your day dear friend. HUGS!
ReplyDeleteWe got all of the snow and freezing temperatures, so we've been huddled in since Friday. Our weekend sounded much like yours, reading, sports on TV and naps. I also did a lot of baking. Stay warm and cozy Billie Jo!!
ReplyDeleteI am glad you were spared and I hope your power remains on. We had 4-5 inches with a sleet and freezing rain topper. In many ways, we were spared, but in others (like the road conditions, we were not). I don't have to go anywhere until Friday and if it isn't better by Thursday, I am canceling that appointment. Enjoy the warmth of the fire and stay cozy, Billie Jo.
ReplyDeleteGood Monday Morning!!!! It is frigid cold here and we have a little ice which is rare in the deep south. :) I love sunsets and lunch too!!!! :) Your gallery wall of your family is beautiful!!!
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you didn't get slammed with the storm. It is snowing yet again here!
ReplyDeleteI never knew that about Neflix and games. I'm going to have to check that out.
Your lunch looks fabulous - now I need to find something for myself. :)
Hi, I did not now about the games on Netflix. Thank you for the tip. ;-)
ReplyDeleteIt has been crazy cold here and my appetite went crazy for sweets. Hee Hee!
I made gingersnap cookies and a pecan pie.

I haven’t left the premises since Saturday. We got well over a foot of snow in Maine and it’s still snowing. Is there anything better than sitting by a fire in a clean house with dinner in the crockpot?
ReplyDeleteYou decorated for Valentine's Day! I love it all, especially those little houses. Your gallery of photos looks very nice, Billie Jo, and it is so comforting to have these loved ones close to us each day. I'm glad your power is still going strong despite the snow and rain, as so many states across the country are having severe weather. Your cup is delightful. I just watched that cartoon with Charlotte, so thanks for the memory. You have the most delightful cups ever. Your meal looks so delicious...and healthy. Try to stay warm, Billie Jo, and Ii enjoyed your sweet blog post this morning while I had my morning coffee. ; )
ReplyDeleteGood morning Billie Jo... Beautiful sunrises and your photo wall is so very nice. I need to add some photos to mine. What better to do than play games with family...watch football and just enjoy the warmth of a winter's day. As for us, we are iced in.
ReplyDeleteI eat the same things like you. For weeks and then I change.
ReplyDeleteGosh, that cottage cheese looks really good.
ReplyDeleteI am so surprised that it was all rain for you! Maryland is..well, just a half hour away. I would have gladly shared some of your snow with you!! But, yes, hooray to no shoveling! And any good excuse to snuggle in for the day. I did not know you can play games through Netflix. Who knew...but fun to know! Enjoy your Monday and keep warm!
ReplyDeleteI think you have the right idea here...
ReplyDeleteI am glad the weather didn't bother you too much! Enjoy your Monday!
ReplyDeleteI love your picture wall! I know what you mean about loving having your parents, grandparents and great grandparents around you as you go throughout your day. I've really been missing both my parents and when I put away all of the Christmas decor and redid the library table, I put out a picture of my dad when he was probably around 8 years old, and a picture of my mom when she was a senior in high school. It just brings me joy to see their faces when I walk by. xx
ReplyDeleteHi Billie Jo :) I'm intrigued by your lunches. I've heard you say before that you eat the same lunch every day. I want to be that person, but my boredom kicks in and I crave something new every day. But...I do crave the same meals each week, so there's that. I was just getting onto myself for not wanting to hang pictures yet (we've only been here 3 weeks), but then you said yours have been in the box since August and now I feel much better :) Thanks friend!
ReplyDeleteThe sunset is beautiful. You arranged the photos so perfectly. With so many, it can be such a challenge. I could never do it. I am amazed how you got them all in such a pretty pattern and so symmetrical. And I LOVE your Valentine table!!!
ReplyDeleteSame here... and even more so 'cause we didn't get much ice. The ice I can do without, though. That plate of food is right down my alley.
ReplyDeleteWhat a nice wall of pictures!!!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful skies!!!
Hi Billie Jo! I love that wall of family pictures. I also love your lunch pictures. Everything looks so healthy and delicious. So glad you had a nice stormy weekend to stay warm and cozy with those you love. See you again soon!
ReplyDeleteThat wall of family photos is perfect. Our Mandy has a similar wall in her house. I used to have one in our house in Spokane but the condo doesn't have a place for them. I have a bookcase in our bedroom loaded with family photos. The grandkids have place of honor in the living room. :-) Glad you escaped the worst of the storm. We just had a skiff of snow and extremely cold weather, well below zero until today. I think last night was -14F but it got up into the teens which was like a heat wave. Ha! Take care.
ReplyDeleteBlessings and hugs,
Betsy
Glad you did not get the storm. I love your photography wall so nice. I am not sitting by the fire for three weeks I am in the desert and the temperature is Summer temperature! But I am drinking coffee!
ReplyDeleteGlad you were all safe from the storm dear Friend. It was so hard coming back late last night to below zero temps after being in FL visiting Annie all week.(70's and 80's temps). I LOVE your photo feature wall. Done beautifully!! And I love your sunrise pics - although I'm such a sunset Gal I'll put in a request for one of those when you get a chance too. Lol
ReplyDeleteStay cozy and blessings to you all. xoxo
Love the sunrise sunset photos...so pretty. I need to add some older photos to my wall. I mostly just have children, grands and greatgrands.
ReplyDeleteIt's still icy here in central Texas!
Stay warm!
hugs
Donna
Your wall of photos looks great. I did that in my house (4 houses ago) on a wall that never got any sunshine. I wanted to be sure the pictures would not fade, and they did fine.
ReplyDeleteHey I didn't even realize the storm had a name lol! We cancelled everything this weekend and I was hoping for a big, beautiful snow but alas, we ended up just with ice- thick ice. It was gone by Monday thankfully, but I still was hoping for the snow!
ReplyDeleteYour decor looks so cute! I struggle to really decorate and need a couple more things for Valentines! Maybe I can get a chance to visit hobby lobby this week!
I didn't know about the Netflix games! We have a nintendo switch and we can play with my sisters family who lives across the state, we love doing that!
You were following my former blog and I've sense changed my url and blog name if you would like to stop by again! It is now at : https://ahomemakersheart126.blogspot.com/ :) I hope you'll visit sometime!
