November Walks And Weekends

November. Yep, here we are in November. Walking this morning, I felt the cold air, saw the empty tree branches, and it finally sank in. It is November. I have a special spot in my soul for these early November days. Yes, I do love Halloween, and I cannot wait for Thanksgiving leftovers and all that is Christmas, but these first couple of weeks in November allow me the time to take a breath, reflect on what has been, and contemplate what is to come.

Halloween is packed away in the old plastic totes and stacked in the closet, the house has been dusted, and now waits patiently for the red, gold, and green to appear. I am thinking about Thanksgiving, but not yet planning. I have purchased a few Christmas gifts and gathered the ones I purchased throughout the year, but I have yet to wrap and label. I am intentionally living in these crisp, darker November days, waiting for it all to begin.

Here is what November looks like in my world in the very early morning hours. Come take a walk with me, why don't you?

I need to finish here so I can post this before noon. If not, it won't go out until tomorrow. I am usually finished much earlier, but this morning I decided to make chicken salad from a rotisserie chicken in the fridge. Then I decided to boil the bones down in chicken broth with some poultry seasoning for an hour, then drain the bones and add the only noodles I had handy, elbow macaroni! So now, at 11:30 in the morning, we have chicken soup and chicken salad in the fridge! Who even am I ???

Have a wonderful weekend, my friends. Thank you for visiting. I am always happy you do! Remember to show yourself some grace this weekend. Take that nap, order the pizza in, watch the Christmas movie, or take the walk. And, don't forget to say no if you need to, and yes if you want!

Oh! Flynn saw this majestic sight outside our window a few days ago! She was quick enough to take some pictures, too. "For the Blog, Mom!"

    1. Hi Brenda! Oh, I don't walk that far at all! We have a nice loop around our area that I take, and it is just enough to get me going in the morning with some fresh air and exercise. It is about 1/4 mile, and now I walk around it twice. I don't know if I will ever be one to walk miles and miles! I just like the quiet time to clear my mind!

  15. Amazing photos! I want to savor November as long as I can - its the best time of year. The calm before the storm, as it were. I love your method for chicken soup - I do the same with my turkey after Thanksgiving. Bone broth is supposed to be good for your joints!

  16. Gorgeous photos - and that eagle...great job Flynn! I relate so well. I love this little reprieve of peace, reflection and gratitude before all the holiday time gets into full swing. And of course for right now I'm healing from the aggressive stitches on my face (feel kind of like frankenstein 🙈) But I know it's temporary and swollen - and it will heal and change. Much like this season of calm and grace. Blessings my Friend. xoxo (PS: now I'm craving chicken soup 😂)

  17. Hello, It is nice to meet you Billie Jo.
    I am a new follower.
We homeschooled our boys, it was a true blessing.
I loved reading your thoughts about November. I use to not like November, but as I "age" I feel different about it, a lot like what you shared.
    Have a great new week,
    Carla

  19. Lovely photos of your walk and Flynn captured some stunning photos of the eagle. I miss them at our lake campsite in Washington. We had a pair that nested just above our trailer every year. It was fun to watch them fish in the lake and feed their babies.
Great job with the food preparation. I made chicken salad last week and it was so good for lunch for a couple of days.
    Take care,
    Blessings,
    Betsy
