Sometimes, I have different thoughts about various things that I find hard to put into a whole post. I think of something, then realize that no one wants to read an entire post about the trivial thoughts of my mind. For instance, why do they sell shampoo and conditioner in the same size bottles when most people regularly use way less conditioner? The shampoo bottle always looks bright and fresh, and the poor conditioner bottle sits in the shower so long it starts to look streaky and messy with globs of thick conditioner stuck to the top. I know. The world has far bigger problems than my conditioner, right? But maybe my mind isn't supposed to deal with all those things. My circle of interest and concern should be smaller, like my grandma's and my mom's was, before the internet and social media allowed us access beyond our neighborhoods and local news.
Another thing I've been thinking about is how time speeds up each year. I always tell my kids I can literally feel myself sitting in a Physics Class in January after Christmas break. I remember thinking about how loooong the winter would be with nothing to look forward to. Back then, January, February, and March dragged on and on. Spring was forever away, and summer? Forget about it! Now, it's New Year's Day and Valentine's Day, and I'm getting Easter decorations out before putting them away because it is the Fourth of July! That means fall and pumpkin spice for a few weeks before it is time to decorate for Christmas. And no amount of intent and focus can slow life down!
Let's see. What else? Oh! This is a PSA concerning Blogger. Recently, I have been wondering about some of my blogger friends I haven't heard from, and after going to their pages, I realized I was no longer following them! If you haven't seen me visiting in some time, this is the reason why! GINNY and RACHEL, I just refollowed you! This is a tip in case you are missing some of your blog friends and their posts on your Reading List.
And one last thought: I sometimes wonder about random things, like how often you should wash the throw blankets you use or how many times you use your coffee pot before you wash it. Sometimes, I think of all the books I haven't read or the places I haven't seen. Then I think about how content I am with the stack of books on my bedside table and how much comfort I feel being home. So. That's that. Thanks for indulging me in my random chain of thought, my friends!
Oh Billie Jo, I love that last quote, it's so special. I'm glad you are happy with your own company, and that it's peaceful in your world. There are those who need to constantly be surrounded by people or doing something, and that would make me dizzy haha. We have those fun and lively moments with others, but we do need that peaceful quiet time too. I love when you share your little tidbits of things because those are the things on your mind, and many of them I can relate to. Time does seem to go by faster as we age, I've heard that. My conditioner bottle doesn't sit long in the shower because I have thick curly hair, and use it often. I always wanted thin straight hair, like you. ; )
ReplyDeleteWishing you the most wonderful June days, Billie Jo.

Good morning Billie Jo. I really did enjoy this post today. My mind works much like this too. Flits from one thing to another. I had to laugh at your conditioner question because I just asked myself the same thing last week when I had to get my wet self out of the shower to get a new bottle of shampoo while the conditioner was still half full! :-)
ReplyDeletePeople don't understand how I can stay peacefully at home for days on end, perfectly happy to be there. Especially my Hubby. He likes to be busy, busy. We have lots of campming trips planned in the next few months and while I know I'll enjoy them as I always do, in the back of my mind I can't wait to be home. Although when I'm in my camper, I'm home too. It doesn't make sense. But then, neither does my mind! Ha!
Blessings and hugs,
Betsy
Well coming from a family with thick long hair it is the conditioner that runs out first. I know time speeds up when we are older as we have more to worry about and spend our time on. When we are young all things are taken care of for us. But I too love alone time.
ReplyDeleteGosh, it's peaceful in my world too!! Aren't we blessed!! I enjoyed this post!! xo
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed your random thoughts! I've heard that the reason time speeds up is because when you're a kid of 10, one year is a whole tenth of your life. When you are 50, it's 1/50... That kind of makes sense to me!
ReplyDeleteI always love random thoughts... good to just let the mind go
ReplyDeleteComing back to blogging - I saw how many accounts I lost links too - dont know why. Hated that - I've been searching for some of my old bloggy friends
AND why does it seem like on the store shelves, MOST of the bottles are conditioner!!! There are much more than shampoo. I have actually mistakenly bought conditioner instead of conditioner. People are conditioner crazy!! YES, time is flying so fast the older I get. And I read an article many years ago that there is actually a scientific reason why!! Too bad I have forgotten that reason, I would love to remember why.
ReplyDeleteI think my OCD would not like it if the conditioner bottle was smaller than the shampoo bottle. It shouldn't matter, but it does to me! Peace in your own space is a beautiful thing.
ReplyDeleteHA! I was just thinking this very morning when I was in the shower why it was that my conditioner wasn't put in a smaller bottle than the shampoo! No kidding! Maybe we should put our heads together and come up with something to solve this problem?
ReplyDeleteI always enjoy your thoughts, my friend, random or not. :) xx
The inside of my head sounds like that 24/7! And I think of the conditioner/shampoo thing every day when I shower, lol. Also - hamburger and hot dog packages that arent' the same as number as the bun packages - WHYYYYYYYY?
ReplyDeleteYou ponder some interesting things. :). I must be odd because I use my shampoo and conditioner about equally. :)
ReplyDeleteI love time at home, doing my own thing. I enjoy walking in the great outdoors too. A combination of the two makes me happy.
ReplyDeleteI love this! Makes me feel better knowing I'm not the only one with random thoughts. :) I was going to give you an example but now my mind has gone blank!!
ReplyDeleteThat's a lot of thoughts! It's funny how we mull over life's random stuff.
ReplyDeleteBeing content is the best feeling, although I do agree, life should slow down a little..Xx
I enjoy your random thoughts and I am guessing we have similar hair because my conditioner looks the same. I don't know the correct answer to the throw blankets but I know that when I do get around to washing one (we have a whole basket full) it feels extra soft and everyone gravitates towards using that one. So I guess the correct answer at my house is "more often" but I also know I probably won't.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great assortment of random thoughts, Billie Jo! Time keeps speeding by and it has proven my grandmother correct. The older you get, the faster it goes. My random thought is I would like companies to offer travel or sample sizes in products especially if you are trying out something new. I don't want 10 or 12 ounces of something if it isn't going to work for me. Happy Thursday!
ReplyDeleteI've enjoyed your random thoughts today Billie Jo. I am much the same..I have all these random thoughts, and then I think, these things are not important to any one else, so why blog about them. However, I kinda use my blog post as a journal, so sometimes I do blog about the craziest things. Like today....I am randomly thinking about the best way for me to stop drinking coffee...LOL. Has anyone else just gone cold turkey at not enjoying a cup of the stuff....
