Hello, my friends! Happy Friday! Happy May!?! This was us yesterday afternoon as we headed back to Maryland. Two adults, one teen, three dogs, and a lot of semi-organized stuff were crammed into a minivan. We made it safe and sound in good time, and were greeted with a cozy house, groceries, and flowers. Thank you, Madison and Nicolas!
Before we left, I took a ride all by myself back to my hometown to spend some time with my momma and dad. It was the first time I had been back since my mom passed, and I wanted to check in with her and let her know I miss her terribly, but know she is singing in Heaven with all the people who love her just as much. I always talk to her, and know she and my dad are with me, but visiting where they are resting is helpful.
Lastly, if you need a quick idea for a salad this weekend, look no further. I made this to take to Peyton's this past week, and it is as easy as it is delicious! I use green leaf lettuce, but you could use whatever you like. Then I toss in some juicy blackberries and feta cheese! We like a blueberry vinaigrette with it, too.
Well, that is all I have today, my friends. We are going to settle in this weekend. I am going to organize my school plans and my meal plan. I hope you all have a wonderful May weekend! Thank you for visiting!
Billie Jo
Aww - your parents resting place is very pretty and peaceful.
ReplyDeleteAnd it's so sweet of Madison and Nicholas to have your home so welcoming when you got back!
Sounds like a great trip and I'm glad you got to visit with your parents. Mine are back in Chicago so I don't get there very often anymore. That salad looks yummy. Love the photo from the minivan. How nice to come home to groceries and flowers.
ReplyDeleteGlad you had safe travels back to MD! Wishing you a relaxing weekend!
ReplyDeleteOh that salad looks divine. I am so glad you got to go spend time with your parents in a peaceful setting. Those moments are cathartic and healing. It makes me very sad my Mother-In-Law does not have a final resting spot that we can go sit at. While I know that's not the end all be all situation, it does help to have a place to be. Glad you had safe travels!!!
ReplyDeleteglad for your safety in returning home. Your parents have a beautiful headstone and resting place. My brothers headstone was just placed this week and now I feel that his burial is complete. Have a great weekend..
ReplyDeleteThe gravesite is so lovely. This is the cutest photo of you guys, and you have such a stunning home!
ReplyDeleteThank you for sharing the photo of your parents' gravesite, which is beautiful. My husband and I visit the graves of our late spouses about every 6 weeks. It's just very meaningful.
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful resting place!
ReplyDeleteThe salad looks so good.

ReplyDeleteKeeping you in prayer, sweet friend.
ReplyDeleteHi BillieJo. Thanks for the salad idea. Glad you made it back to Maryland safely. I am sure that your mom and dad are watching over you and your children, and you will see them again one day. Have a good week. God bless.
ReplyDeleteI love berries with feta. It's nice that you have a place to be with your parents. Mine are interned hundreds of miles away. Sounds like yours are with you in spirit all of the time.
ReplyDeleteThat is so good to come back to a clean house with groceries and flowers. How special of Madison to do that for you. Glad you are back safe and sound. I LOVE your afternoon coffee sign. So glad you got to visit the cemetery. I'm sure it was a comfort being near your mom at this time. I have found it to be a peaceful place every time I visit. Your parents site is lovely. Oh my, that salad looks interesting. I would have never thought of putting blackberries in, but it looks really good. Feta cheese and vinaigrette always makes a salad.
ReplyDeleteHave a splendid May week, Billie Jo.
