Fireworks, Family, Food, and Friends

Just like that, The Fourth of July came and went. We were blessed with a beautiful day for celebrating and enjoyed food and fun together. We ended the day with the most spectacular fireworks display, complete with a patriotic playlist supplied by Madison. It was simple, cozy, festive, and fun!

As I looked at the sky and watched the brilliant display of colors, I was reminded that although our country is currently divided and the news is filled with ugliness and hate, we, as a people, have been here before. And we have come through the darkness together. When it gets to be too much for me, and I feel overwhelmed and helpless, I listen to the words of a wonderful friend and priest who told me, " BJ, turn off the news, look away, and pray." And that is what I intend to do.

Have a cozy summer day, my friends!
Oh, and if you are interested in a mindless but entertaining guilty pleasure, Big Brother starts tonight!

  2. Truly wise words and such good advice...let's remember to turn to prayer. I know people who say they never watch the news, I can't do that...I need to feel prepared. Sigh...
Love the last photo...stunning, it needs entered in a contest! Sending wishes for a little quiet time to settle in, Mary

  6. Love this…so pretty…every generation bemoans the fact of what is going on…people in other countries also complaining…we live our lives the best we can and love our families as you do…way to go

  7. What great pictures of your family! I'm so glad you all had a wonderful time celebrating together. I'm going to take the advice from your priest and turn the news off and pray for our country and our world because that's all we can do right now. God is control. Take care.

  8. Nice fireworks 🎆 photos. We were at the rodeo on Saturday evening but not easy to see the fireworks where we sat. I didn't want to walk up the stairs to see them through wires. We watched Capitol 4th at home on TV. We stayed home all day except for a walk. Yes we need to continue praying for our country and world 🌎. Life's not always easy-going but God is with us. USA🇱🇷

  10. Beautiful photos! You have such a gorgeous view. I agree the news is absolutely awful lately, but I believe that you cannot ignore it if you vote :( We are in a very dangerous place as a country.

  11. What a fun 4th of July! I have to say that I LOVE Peyton's dress. I kept looking at it scrolling down, as it's my favorite color to wear. And all the treats, Yummy! Your words at the end were special and wise, that we have come through the darkness before...and we have so many times. The photo of the fireworks at the end is beautiful. And the girls' picture is a sweet and treasured photo that will be nice to look at years from now. Such a delightful one.
