It's He** To Get Old And Other Stuff

"Billie, It's hell to get old!" My Dad used to say that all the time. And my young, naive self would smile and laugh. I can relate now, Dad. I get you. Yesterday morning, I walked outside with my Mocha, like I do every single morning, and somehow ended up on the ground by the front door. I am fine. Nothing is broken. Just sore and bruised and determined to be more mindful of my movements. And of the fact that I am fifty-two years old. Any plans I had of cleaning and organizing this weekend are temporarily on hold. Oh, who am I kidding! I had no plans!

In less "self-pity" news, the pups got washed and groomed and fresh for summer! We have a wonderful woman that brings her van right to your house. She comes to the door, takes your scruffy dog, and returns with a fresh-smelling, cute-as-can-be pup in a short amount of time.

Easy summer meal Number One: Chicken and Pasta Alfredo with fresh green beans. Steve did some chicken breast on the grill Sunday, so I had him do extra for easy weeknight meals. I boiled some whole-grain penne - trust me, you won't even notice the difference - heated some of the cooked chicken breasts with some alfredo sauce -  sometimes I make my own, this time I used a jar - and combined it all with some freshly shredded parmesan cheese. Steve added some avocado oil and garlic powder to the cooked beans, and we were all set! Easy and delicious!

Well, that is all for today, my friends. I hope you have a wonderful summer weekend! Whether swimming, boating, hiking, gardening, or grilling, enjoy! I will be thinking of you!

Happy Weekend!

Billie Jo

  1. 52 !! You are just a baby. Get strong girl, because you are not old yet. When I mow one day and weed whack the next , I am barely walking on the third day. I am old enough to be your mom. :):) Just relax this weekend and pet your doggies. Wishing you well . Blessings, xoxo, Susie

  2. Hello my friend! I am almost 52 as well. I also am noticing things that I did not have to deal with in my younger days. I hope you will feel better soon. I have been sick for over a week now, so I'm not getting much done around our little home. I have however enjoyed reading in bed and watching my favorite YouTube videos. I hope you have a cozy day. Hugs to you my friend! ~Juli

  3. Hi Billie Jo, Thanks so much for stopping by my blog and your kind comment. So sorry to hear about your fall, but glad nothing was broken. Your little pups are adorable and must feel great to be all groomed for summer. I like the idea for grilling extra chicken to have it ready for another dish. Your pasta looks scrumptious. I do buy the whole grain penne and love it.

  4. Ouch! That would screw up my sewing and piano playing. You need to be more careful grace. Did anyone get it on camera? Okay that was mean, but my evil twin wants to know....

  5. I'm glad you didn't seriously hurt yourself, although it is always a terrible shock when you have a fall as an adult. X

  6. I'm so sorry you fell down and it is good you didn't seriously injure yourself. Of course I'm not sure how 'old' you could possibly be when you are younger than my KIDS! hahaha! The pups sure look pretty!

  9. Give it another 25 years and see what surprises are in store for you. I am at that 25 years older than you, and it is not fun.

  11. Oh No!! I'm so sorry to hear that you fell and are now sore and bruised, but thank goodness you didn't break anything. A few summers ago, I was having lunch with my brother and he offered to drive me to a different parking lot so I could get in my car after lunch and I didn't realize he didn't have a step on the side of his truck and I fell flat on the pavement! It was so embarrassing and I completely banged and bruised my self up - I was sore for days. Arnicare cream/gel really helped with my pain and bruising and lots of ice. I hope you make a quick recovery!

  12. Glad to hear your fall didn't cause any major damage and you are on the mend. Is there anything better than a freshly groomed fur buddy? That's convenient not to have to leave the house. Enjoy your weekend!!

  13. Billie Jo, I'm so sorry you took a fall. I did that one time coming out of Ross, and landed smack down. I gathered myself together, but was sore for a day or so. That's so nice that the lady comes and picks up the dogs, gives them a bath, and returns them again. Your chicken pasta alfredo looks healthy and delicious. You know, that's my favorite Italian dish. That's a good idea to put avocado oil and garlic powder on the green beans. I hope you heal quickly, and your dad was right, it's not easy getting older. Treat yourself to something, just for You. : )
