Monday Morning Coffee Talk

Good Monday morning, my friends! I am sipping my coffee on the couch, looking out at the lake. Seemingly overnight, everything decided to become green. Spring has arrived in Pennsylvania, and I am glad. Yesterday all my people were here to help us prepare our little lake home for summer. They washed porch furniture, cleaned out kayaks, organized items, and were kind enough to take some things I had stored for them in our garage. Almost two years ago. Because for some reason, cleaning and organizing a garage was at the bottom of our To-Do list and apparently kept being pushed further and further down.

I even grabbed a broom, put on some music, and swept, organized, and purged until my body reminded me that I am no longer thirty years old and perhaps my services could be better utilized elsewhere. More in a supervising capacity. When we were done, Steve cooked a delicious meal on the grill. He made stir-fried rice with beef, shrimp, and vegetables. Peyton brought one of our family favorites, chocolate chip pumpkin bread, mainly for Kirby, who celebrated his birthday yesterday! Fourteen years old!

(Apologies for the blurry photo. It is old, but too cute to leave out!)

It is hard to believe Kirby has been in our family longer than Flynn! Today is going to be rainy and stormy. Also known as cozy. My plans include schooling, laundry, washing my bedsheets, and enjoying my afternoon coffee. There are other things to be done, to be sure. Age has enlightened me, however. There will always be other things to be done. There will be dust under my couch. My tubs of photos may not be organized. My refrigerator shelves will be sticky. The mirrors will have toothpaste splatter on them. And I am ok with that. Finally.

How was your weekend? And what are your plans for this Monday in May?
Whatever they are, enjoy, my friends!

Thanks for visiting!

Billie Jo

  3. Oh, what a gift, having the whole family come to help with chores! I would love it if my crew would do something like that. It would make a lovely Mother's Day gift. Maybe I will suggest that next year. ;) Everything is green and blooming in this part of PA, too, and it is a rainy, stormy day. Being able to let go of that need to get everything done right now is one of the greatest gifts of getting older, I think. Have a lovely rainy day!

  4. Aww Kirby is adorable.
Cleaning and organizing is a never ending job.. sometimes we just need to stop, turn a blind eye to a few things and enjoy the present.

  6. Kirby's puppy picture reminds me so much of Rosie's. Happy birthday to Kirby! It sounds like you had a productive weekend. Seasonal allergies kept us in for the most part. I did a lot of cooking and baking so that was nice. I'm glad to hear that you are not sweating the small stuff. That is something I still struggle with and something I'd like to overcome. Have a great afternoon!

  7. IT gets harder and harder to get all those things done as we age, doesn't it? Love the pictures especially little Flynn.

  8. Isn't it wonderful to have that feeling of accomplishment? I have all of my deck things out now too. And my flowers planted. Now I just need to rope Matt into helping me wash all the windows on a sunny day. It needs to get done every year. But finally feeling like Spring here too! Enjoy my Friend! ☀️

  9. Kirby is so adorable. I let Megan look at him and he looks alot like our Kirby cat was years ago. He was white with ears and tail of brownish color on your dog. We miss him as we had to get him to another place after Megan left, due to Phil not liking cats after they would walk between his legs, then he'd fall. SAD! 4 hour work day today and a nice day outside. Thankfully the air is warming up as it should be in May. I keep myself at getting things done a bit at a time. Have a blessed week!

Good for your for taking things one thing at a time and embracing imperfection! There will always be something else on the "to do" list. I hope you and your have a good week. See you again soon.

  15. Happy Birthday Kirby! Oh, what a cutie. And the blurry photo you mentioned is my favorite! Look at little Flynn sitting there with her companion. It's just so hard to take a good picture of those vintage pictures we have. I've tried recently. The one with Peyton and Kirby is sweet too. And the one with the leaves made me smile, as Fall is our favorite season. : ) It's nice to get your garage clean and organized. It's a lot of work, but such a relief when finished. And the photo of the rainbow and nature is beautiful. Looks like a post card, Billie Jo.

Have a good rest of the week.
