Weekend Plans

My view for the weekend.

I used to write a "Weekend Plans" post every Friday. Of course, that was when my children were little,  I was younger, and Covid was yet an unheard of threat similar to the fictitious virus in the movie Outbreak with Dustin Hoffman. I thought I would write about our weekend plans again for some reason or other, no matter how uninspiring they may be. So, here goes!

My sister Margie is coming to spend the weekend with us while Steve and her husband head to camp to do camp things. I think that involves takeout bar food, something to do with crossbows, and comedy movies from the '70s and '80s. Tomorrow we will watch tv, play cards, call my mom, and order takeout. We will watch mass online again, as so much sickness is swirling around here, and I try to avoid it like the plague. Literally.

Sunday, we will do much the same. I plan on doing laundry and making a meal plan and a grocery list. Then Sunday evening, we will watch the Steelers in the playoff game that should not have been! I have minimal hope they will win, but I do hope for a good match and a happy career-ending moment for our quarterback, Ben. Sunday evening, we are also expecting our first big snow event of the year. I am actually excited about the possibility of snow because I think it should snow when it is supposed to and then be gone. Snow in January is pretty and fun. Snow in April is not.

Lastly, thank you for your kind comments of support on my previous post. I appreciate each and every one. Thank you also for your concern over Rhett's influenza. He went to the doctor yesterday and got much-needed medication. I encouraged that because sickness always worsens over the weekend, doesn't it? While he was gone, I put on a mask, opened the windows in his room, and sprayed the heck out of it with Lysol. I also changed and washed his bedsheets. I couldn't find any of his own sheets to put on his bed, so he is currently enjoying sleeping on the Charlie Brown Great Pumpkin Halloween sheets I dug out of my stash. As per Rhett, he didn't complain.

Well, that is all I have today, my friends.
Thank you for visiting.
Leaving you with some Pinterest finds because who doesn't like a smile on a wintry January weekend?

  2. We're supposed to get the snow tonight into tomorrow. This is the quote for our local KC national weather center: Well, we tried to create the perfect weather forecast that would allow you to just stay inside and relax this weekend. We hear there is a big sportyball game! (Then it goes on to talk about road conditions) Thought it was funny. I'm sure you'll have a wonderful and cozy weekend. Glad Rhett went to the doctor, hope the meds are already helping. A little bit of a good match, but not too much, not sure how much more excitement your Chiefs fan friend can take. Happy Friday!

  5. Just saw my twin sister earlier in the week and it was so good to see her! Snow may be coming here too after temps in the 50s. I think I'll take the 50s. Glad to hear your son is feeling better. You enjoy your weekend and some snow! :)

  7. Sounds like a perfect weekend! I'm headed up to visit my daughter and son-in-law and little Wulf and Tennyson, they live in a small city on Lake Ontario, it's beautiful but so cold! I'm glad your sister is visiting, that sounds perfect!

  8. Sounds like a lovely time. Glad Rhett is on the mend. I always called the cleaning after and illness, getting rid of the fever stink. You know you strip them down and wash the pj's and the bedding and air out the room. All covered in fever stink.

  9. You made me laugh at all sentences in last area~~~hahaha! I need to get our sheets washed today as I'm home another day from work due to a cold/virus. No temp which is a good thing. I will go to work tomorrow. I don't use Lysol any more due to what ingredients are in it. Not the best. I use Thieves household cleaner to spray things that are needed to be cleaned. I make room spray with thieves essential oil with a couple more oils that help clear out room of bad stuff. I am glad Rhett is feeling better. As usual we go out for dinner after church. Most likely make cookies on Sunday afternoon! God bless, Becky

  10. I loved reading your weekend plans. They sound like a warm, wonderful family way to spend a couple of days.
I am going to throw the windows open tomorrow just to air everything out. It is only supposed to be 12˚ and with wind chill it will be well below zero but I hate the stale feeling in the house.
Glad Rhett is doing better and hope he LOVES the pumpkin sheets. xo Diana

  11. That was good thinking disinfecting and airing out Rhett's room while he was gone. Always good to do when someone is sick. And of course the Charlie Brown sheets don't hurt. I hope he's feeling better soon. You can just tell he's a good guy. Loved the jokes. Enjoy your weekend.

  13. Love those quotes, they made me giggle:) My fireplace is loaded up with wood and will be roaring shortly! We are expecting a little wintry weather and I have no place that I need to go! For that I will be thankful. The flu is going around our family. I pray that Rhett will feel all better soon. The Charlie Brown sheets will help, wink:) Enjoy your day dear friend, HUGS!

  15. So glad to hear Rhett is doing better. And what better sheets to snuggle with than Charlie Brown Great Pumpkin sheets? Oh my gosh, I so agree with that last quote. I always wonder the same thing every time.....and also with the paper towels haha. Your family night with your sister sounds wonderful, and you are wise to stay in right now. Many people I hear are getting the virus, it's so sad.

Loved visiting with you today, Billie Jo.
