Cozy October Days

I love this time of year. But you already knew that, right? I wish October were longer so I would have more time to sit on the porch with my morning coffee and watch the leaves fall from the colorful trees in the front yard. I wish I had more time to ride slowly through our neighborhood, admiring the shades of red, yellow, and orange on display around me. I wish I had more time to hold Mocha as we ride around the lake in the boat and marvel at the beauty of the trees around us.

But maybe I don't need more time. Perhaps I need to make better use of the time October offers. I have the time. I have thirty-one days to enjoy this time I wait for all year. I simply need to remind myself to pause a bit and look around rather than rush to complete whatever it is I am doing. Yesterday, Flynn and I were at the kitchen table, reading about chemical weathering and how it differs from mechanical weathering when I looked up and saw the most beautiful sight. Colorful leaves were literally fluttering in the wind, as if dancing, before falling to the ground, their job complete. We stopped our science lesson and watched those leaves, and I reminded Flynn that we have but a few days each year to see such a sight. So I suppose I am trying to savor these cozy October days, after all.

Have a wonderful weekend, my friends.
We have nothing planned!
How about you?

  1. Oh my gosh!!! Mocha's bow! Kirby's tie! So sweet. Enjoy this free weekend to the fullest and all October has to offer. I've got pumpkin spice creamer in my coffee today so it's going to be a good one!

  3. The pups look so cute and festive! Rosie was groomed two days ago and groomer put the cutest bow in her hair and it lasted for maybe one day. Cute while it lasted, though. Have you ever ordered from Lucy & Company for the pups? They have the cutest leashes, collars, harnesses and bandanas for dogs and the quality is so nice. I just ordered ahead for Christmas as I know they will sell out. Check out their site if you get a chance. No big plans here this weekend either. It's been raining for the past few days so hoping the weather clears up soon. Happy weekend! I'm glad it is Friday!

  4. Beautiful post, and beautiful fall leaves. October is definitely my favorite month. I think the beautiful fall leaves will all be off the trees around here soon. We have had a cold rain all day and at least a little bit of snow is probably on the way. Fall never lasts long enough. Have a wonderful weekend.

  11. It's lovely to watch the leaves fall. For the first time this year, Lily managed to catch one before it landed. X

  12. How wonderful that you and Flynn stopped to see the dancing leaves fall to the ground during this glorious season. And that first photo is very cool, I like that one a lot. It's simple, but says so much. : )
