Wednesday Words of Wisdom

Not that I am worthy of bestowing words of wisdom, but for what it is worth, I was thinking about all sadness and heartache happening in our world the other day. I felt helpless and guilty for going about my day while others were suffering so. And suddenly, I realized that I could do something after all. I could care for myself and my family. I could make our lives comfortable and calm. Only then, without anxiety and discouragement, could we find it within ourselves to help those who need it. Perhaps the best way? Through prayer. And understanding. Empathy. And prayer.

Have a cozy day, my friends.

  2. I truly beleive that we are here to learn to bear one another's burdens, as Christ bears ours, and beginning with yourself and you family is a good start.

  4. This is so true. I'm always looking around to see how I can improve things here in my own home and with my own family. I can only do the things I have control over...and pray of course!

  6. Could not give this enough Amen's my Friend. I agree that it's so easy to get overwhelmed and feel helpless. But I believe in the power of prayer! That's why even when I don't see patients and do simple jobs at my hospice facility - I pray as I do it. I let the Lord use me as His instrument in my family, work, community etc.
Blessings on the rest of your week.

  7. Yes! If each of us cared for our families - and ourselves - we'd be much better equipped to help those in need. Prayer changes us, it pushes back the forces of darkness and it changes the world!

  8. Beautiful thoughts, Billie Jo. I believe prayer will be one of our only hopes in days to come. Paying it forward to those who need extra prayers for courage, comfort and strength is a wonderful blessing.

  10. I agree with what you wrote. Prayers helps for sure as most of us can't do much about it.
    Have a good week. ☕

  12. I agree! I'm reminded of what Mother Teresa said. "If you want to change the world, go home and love your family."

  13. 100% agree with you on this!!!! When the whole debacle in Afghanistan was unrolling, I felt so guilty for caring about the minute details in life, and for enjoying a laugh, or planning a good meal. I then realized that my shame would do NOTHING to help anyone. I can grow where I'm planted, bless and nurture others, give what I can, and pray. These are the things that I pursue with all of my heart, and that's enough. Thank you for sharing, I love your blog.
