Last week I turned forty-nine. My birthday was wonderful. I homeschooled, napped, went to dinner with my people, and ate Dairy Queen cake. When I think about this being my last year before I turn half a century old, I actually feel a sense of peace. And thankfulness. Because forty-nine is awesome. Forty-nine is...
~knowing who I am and what I like, while not really giving a damn what other people think about it.
~using the word "damn" on my blog without worrying about someone being offended.
~accepting my middle age body, curves and all.
~ letting small things go...because...who cares if all my silverware matches anyway?
~watching my children embrace adulthood with confidence and joy.
~living each day in the moment, not wanting to rush life along.
And
~enjoying perfect nights with the ones I love.
Nights like this...
Shout out to my awesome sister-in-law Beth for this beyond beautiful bouquet.
Which of course, made me feel like Miss America.
Wherever you are in this awesome journey called life, my friends, just be there.
Let the past sleep and let the future dream.
Today, just be.
Happy birthday! I hope you have a fantastic year ahead.
ReplyDeleteHappy birthday B.J. I'm not that far behind you in years and I know what you mean. There's a subtle confidence that comes with the growing numbers and it's really kind of nice. Blessings to you and your family.

ReplyDeleteHappy Belated Birthday! You're looking good and have a great outlook.
ReplyDeleteHappy birthday Billie JO! I'd forgotten how close our birthdays were! Mine was the 9th and I am also 49. I have to admit, I don't like odd numbers!! I liked 48. I feel like I'm only 35 though, I feel like I'm saying the wrong number when I say I'm 49. Anyway, you are beautiful, glad you had a wonderful day!
ReplyDeleteHappy Belated Birthday sweet friend. And, I could not agree with your statements more. I turned 50 in July and it was such a relief to be honest. The past couple years have taught me a lot!! So many things I would have told my younger self.
ReplyDeleteHappy (belated) birthday!! I know it was a wonderful one based on these photos :) Before I read the caption of the last one (you with the flowers), I was like, she totally has that royalty wave going on. May you have a year filled with abundant blessings!
ReplyDeleteHappy Belated Birthday!
