I know technically The Twelve Days of Christmas actually begin on Christmas Day. For the purpose of this series, however, we felt it more fun to begin today. And so I am sharing one of my very favorite Christmas traditions...writing out my Christmas cards.
This year marks the twenty-seventh year I have written out cards for family and friends. I treasure the time I spend at my table, Christmas music playing, mug of hot coffee nearby. I don't think of it as a chore, but rather as an opportunity to slow down and reflect. And to enjoy yet another cup of my vanilla coffee.
Today we begin burning our first candle from our Yankee Candle Twelve Days of Christmas Votive Set. It is Christmas Thyme. And it smells wonderful.
Thanks for visiting with me today. Please hop on over to my Madison's Blog to see what she is posting on her first day of The Twelve Days Of Christmas. And if you would like to join us, please feel free! The more the merrier!!!
What a delightful idea Madison had and how fun to join her :) I am looking forward to the next 12 days.
ReplyDeleteIt's always such a joy to write out Christmas cards and I can see why you enjoy it so much. Love and hugs to you!
What a lovely thing to do...smiles. Sending you lots of hugs and a very hearty Merry Christmas. smiles
ReplyDeleteOh, I will be "tuning in" each day, for sure!!
ReplyDeleteI feel like I can smell that votive you captured it so perfectly. ;)
And Thank you, for always remind me to slow down.
Can you believe Christmas is coming in just 12 days? I am excited to count down with you!
ReplyDeleteI've always loved this time of year and enjoy writing cards as well. Though many it seems don't send them anymore.... I will continue to hold on to the tradition though :-) Something so wonderful about a beautiful card in the mail instead of just bills, lol :-) Have a great afternoon!
ReplyDeleteBlessings,
Jill
I love that you see this as a time to slow down and reflect as opposed to a chore. I need to start thinking about things that way I think.
ReplyDeleteI love traditions of any kind and cards is a special one. I will enjoy seeing your and Madison's daily blog and what is happening day to day during this time. Thanks for sharing with us.
ReplyDeleteChristmas cards are my absolute favorite! I love sending them and I also enjoy receiving them. It's fun to go to the mailbox and see the days cards. Sadly it seems that the sending of cards is something that is decreasing and it makes me sad. I understand as the cost of postage, but still I find it sad. Looking forward to seeing your Christmas traditions!
ReplyDeleteThis sounds like a great idea. I can't believe it is 12 days before Christmas. Time is flying by. I also enjoy sending and receiving Christmas cards. We are really late getting ours out this year. I have them (as we do photo cards with the kids' pictures) but am waiting for my dear husband to write his annual Christmas letter to add to the card. I look forward to reading your 12 days series.
ReplyDeleteWhat a nice idea for you and your daughter to do together. Savoring the moments is what life should be about. And particularly at Christmas. ♥
ReplyDeleteOH! what a wonderful idea of the twelve days of Christmas posts. Like you Billie Jo ,I love sending Christmas cards to family and friends, which I will be doing tonight.
ReplyDeleteAnd like you I am savoring each moment during this special season, wishing I could slow it down a little.
Thank you for visiting and for your sweet comment, now I must go and see what madison has posted.
Blessings,
Sue
