Our Halloween House

We decorated our house for Halloween on a dark and cloudy Thursday afternoon. Halloween Decorating Day has always been a favorite in our family. We wait for a spooky-looking day...no sunshine, thank you...and carry the orange and black tubs up from the basement. We find the Halloween CD we have had forever and put it in to play. Then we spend an hour or so creating a cozy, happy Halloween home. Peyton always makes a special treat for us too.

Happy Halloween, my friends!!!
Do you decorate?
Cozy or spooky?!

  1. I don't decorate for Halloween, but will throw out a couple of fall pieces. I did do a lot more when my kids were little. I had always thought I would decorate for the grandkids, but we live so far away, they may or may not get to see it. Your home looks so festive and fun!

  2. Everything looks so festive Billie Jo. I don't decorate for Halloween anymore, other than the traditional jack o lantern. More fall, to carry us through to Thanksgiving.

  7. This was always one of my favorite days of the year! I would LOVE one of Peyton's brownies right now. My favorite Halloween decoration will forever be the little wooden black cat with the pumpkins on its collar. <3

  8. WOW!!!! Your family does it up "to the 9's!"!!!!!

    Fantastic!

and yes, that is a Halloween Tree, over in the corner! ,-)

But you didn't show us the special treat, which Peyton made. -pout-

I decorate, but not as fully, as you do. I have parred down my decoration stash, over the years, actually. But then, we are older.

But actually, I'm still not taking it easy, on my poor husband! 3 sets of all year faerie lights, died at the same time! So he had to bring in a ladder, and play with 3 new sets, and it was not easy. 'Cause I wanted them draped over pictures too. Eeeek!
    But he did it!

We so need these bits of ambiance lighting, in the dark corners of the brick wall where the fireplace is.

Love everything in your house! I want to come for a cup of coffee! :-) I'll even wear my purple witch's hat, with the veiling, with spiders on it!!!!!!!!!!

  9. I just love all of your traditions! I decorate for fall but not really for Halloween. I have so many pumpkins around now the house looks a bit ridiculous!

  10. Btw, I noticed Madison's comment, right above mine. So clicked and found her blog. Not seeing a way to comment, I filled in a "write to me" place, which I found.

I adored her post "The sun is not my friend"! Also so love it, that she has come to love her beautifully pale skin. She is so lucky, to not be able to tan. I didn't, by choice. And at 80, my face is sooo much better, than others my age, and younger. :-)

But my grand daughters do tan. -sigh- One more than the other. Well, except for the ginger haired one. She can NOT. :-) I so dislike to see young women tanning!!!!! -sigh- They will be sorry. But there is no telling them. :-)

  15. {{{Giggling}}} I say this all the time to you, but I am moving in, smiles...I usually decorate cozy, like you...but since I'm having surgery on the 31st this year and Liam is 20 and doesn't trick or treat anymore...I just decided to skip the Halloween and go straight into Thanksgiving and fall...and since hubby will be with me in the hosp. we're not handing out candy this year...smiles

  18. Hi Billie Jo~

I wish you could see me smiling right now . . . and maybe, clapping my hands! I love, Halloween, but it has taken my some time to fully enjoy it. My father passed away on Halloween over 30 years ago. It's funny how those sad things stick with you. But, I decided years ago to embrace the day, to enjoy it in a fun way and remember him with a smile, instead of a tear.

I love your decorations, they are just spooktacular! I don't really decorate for, Halloween, although I do have a few little pumpkin cuteness here and there.

    Have a great week!

    Hugs and Love,
    Barb
