A Quick Little Getaway

Steve and I returned to our favorite getaway spot this past weekend with our good friends Heather and Dave. We headed to Bedford Springs for an overnight stay filled with spa visits, long walks, great meals, tons of laughs, and lots of fun.

We took the mandatory "Off on our Annual Getaway" selfie...

Then headed off to the beautiful Bedford Springs Resort.

The resort rooms reflect the charming atmosphere of the hotel's early days...

So very quaint and cozy.

After an afternoon at the spa (Heather and I) and a long walk (Dave and Steve), we had an amazing dinner at the hotel's Frontier Tavern. We talked and laughed and visited for hours.

We had amazing desserts too!
Mine was called Peanut butter and Jelly...
It was sooo good.

After sleeping late the next morning, we packed up and headed home.
But first, we stopped at this amazing restaurant for lunch.
We had a table right beside the fire...

And tried the signature Oatmeal Pie for dessert.
I am still not sure what it is made of, but it was warm and gooey, and delicious.

Friendship, food, and fun...
The perfect combination. : )

Now, I'm Home Sweet Home in my little corner of the couch with my people and my puppy by my side.
Good Times. Good Times.

Dr. Seuss Week In Our Little Homeschool

I am a huge Dr. Seuss fan. It all began when Madison was born and I joined  a book club in which you received two new Dr. Seuss books each month. Plus a really cool tote bag! Mind you, this was long before Internet shopping came about. Madison and I spent hours...literally hours reading and rereading our favorite book "Dr Seuss's Abc" book. I can still literally recite it word for word, twenty years later.

When the opportunity arose to devote an entire school week to our good friend, I jumped at the chance. Flynn was thrilled. And Peyton and Rhett were so awesome at joining in to make it even more special for her.

Our school was all ready for a great week of fun reading!

Yep. Real Green Eggs. No ham. ; )

And some sweet tasting Green Eggs and Ham.

My First Grader!

Peyton did an awesome job making a Cat in the Hat pizza...

And it was good. : )

For the record, our favorite Dr. Seuss books are as follows:

Mommy/Teacher - Dr. Seuss's ABC

Peyton- In A People House

Rhett- There's A Wocket In My Pocket

Flynn- All Of Them!!!!

How about you, my friends?

Weekend Plans

Happy March, my friends! And happy weekend! We have a few fun plans this weekend as well as some relaxing family time. Friday is free, as is Saturday during the day. I plan on some light work around the house. And some time on my freshly vacuumed sofa with my book and a cup of coffee.

Saturday late afternoon we have Mass. After that, Steve and Rhett are attending a Turkey Federation dinner with some friends. My mom and sister Margie are coming up to eat dinner and visit since Margie's hubby Chris is going to the dinner too. We will probably order out and play some games or watch a movie.

Sunday Steve and I have some plans with our friends Heather and Dave. And then of course...The Walking Dead to round out the weekend. : )

Our last week of February was fun, with even a touch of spring weather.

My girl and her Bitty Baby all ready for Mass last weekend...

And our first bright blue skies of the year.

My Flynn noticed that our friends were back!
And quickly grabbed my camera and took a picture.
Blogger in training!

We celebrated Mardi Gras on Tuesday...

First, we decorated the table...

And then waited for Grandma to arrive.

For dinner, we feasted on some delicious Jambalaya and cornbread.

For dessert, Peyton made and decorated these King Cake Cupcakes.
They were cinnamon swirl with cream cheese icing.
Waaaay better than any King Cake we've had. : )

And then it was Ash Wednesday.
My girl was excited to go to church and get her ashes.
And to go to the Fish Fry after. : )

Me and my girl.

We began our Lenten practice of choosing an intention to pray for during our daily Decade of the Rosary. Look who was the very first intention. : )

Have a wonderful weekend, my friends.

Lent 2017

Lent begins today, and our Lenten plans are complete. This year I decided to simplify. I tend to change our plans from year to year, tweaking and reevaulating as needed. This year I chose to keep it simple and focus on the basics of this solemn time of preparation.

May you all have a Blessed Lent, my friends.
