Today, I am wondering...
- If anyone else has a closet with perfectly good clothing in it, but gets excited about the earlier evenings this time of year because you can put on your Old Navy Christmas pajamas at 4:00.
- Why I was convinced years ago that I absolutely had to have a complete set of matching cookware, when now I literally have one Dutch oven and a frying pan, and am perfectly fine and dandy.
- If anyone else likes peppermint and chocolate, but cannot stand Peppermint Mocha anything, and wishes there was a different flavor for all the holiday coffees.
- If someday, people will look back and think how very strange it was that regular people suddenly felt it necessary to use social media to film and share the personal aspects of their lives, like taking a pregnancy test, giving birth, making dinner, pushing a shopping cart through a store, and unloading groceries.
- If anyone else cherishes these upcoming months of hibernation and family time, by taking our cues from nature, and using winter as a time to rest.
That's all. Just wondering!
Billie Jo
YES!! Especially the next few months of hibernation to reset. I wait all year for this.
ReplyDeleteI am not quite that early putting on the pjs, but I have found by 8 instead of putting on soft clothes (sweats and a tee) I am changing into pj bottoms and a tee shirt. I think I am getting old!
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely. I put my pj's on as early as possible too and realize that there is no place quite like home. I would happily stay right here all day, every day. My Hubby can't understand that. He likes to go, go, go. So I send him on all of the errands that need done! It works.
ReplyDeleteBlessings,
Betsy
I am enjoying the earlier darkness and the days that do not require so much of my time so that I can get into comfy jammies early.
ReplyDeleteI totally agree - when it's dark, out come the PJs - at least the bottoms! And I also agree with posting things on social media. I'd just been wondering this morning about a friend's post of her first great grandchild's ultrasound. Understand her excitement, but TMI for my taste!
ReplyDeleteI love pajama time! We have several different kinds of pans that work great for us. We still have some great wedding pots and pans which we use all the time. That's an interesting question about social media. I'm definitely preparing for Christmas but it seems like it sneaks up so quickly and I haven't had a good year of health. I pray I make it through and make my family happy.
ReplyDeleteSo I am an around-the-house-clothes/bye-bye clothes girl. You come in, and change into comfy sweatpants, when you leave, you put on something presentable, because if you don't, you'll end up in the hospital or getting pulled over, ha. I would never ever be leaving the house in sweatpants. These days, the only place I go is to physical therapy, and it seems so strange to leave the house in sweatpants! (I put nice clean ones on before I go, of course). The social media thing I don't really get, yet, I do blog about everything! This hibernation time, when it's dark by five in the afternoon, what a perfect time to stuck at home! We've decorated little by little, have lots of cozy twinkly lights out, and it's quite nice! Paul has been lighting candles every night too, can't beat that!
ReplyDeleteI love your new blog header, Billie Jo! I love the days when it gets dark earlier (well, unless I have to be out in it). I love to hunker down and be cozy. This is the season of resting and resetting.
ReplyDeleteI love your last cozy last picture! My thing would be the matching cookware!
ReplyDeleteOh, I love peppermint mocha coffee! But I don't really like the crunchy peppermint with chocolate, if that makes any sense. I just had some Andes, and didn't realize it had bits of peppermint. I never wanted to share my daughters' ultrasounds with the world when they were pregnant. That was just too personal and special to me. I often wonder some of the same things you do, my friend. ; ) I like that charming little photo you shared.

I can wonder most of those things right along with you, though I live in Florida so we still have temps in the low 80s during the day. I've never been someone who puts on PJs during the day (or early evening). I have family and friends who do, but I figure as soon as I do that, my doorbell will ring! LOL Sending a hug, Billie Jo!!
ReplyDeleteHa! I literally told the owner of my gym that I can't make it to her night classes since I'm typically already showered in and in pj's by 4 o'clock this time of the year. I have zero desire to go out in the dark and cold.
ReplyDeletePJ's were on by 7:00pm last night! And this made me think of something I heard one time about social media...it would be the equivalent of us (years ago) picking up the family phone just to call our best friend and say "guess what? I just ate a salad for lunch!" Or calling all our friends to tell them we saw a flower and are sending them a picture. hahaha. When did we develop this need to be constantly validated by a little heart or "like"? It's kind of sad if you think about it.
ReplyDeleteI am a devotee of comfortable bottoms and don't have a lot of actual pj's. My husband and I cook, and cook and cook so have an assortment of pots and pans. As for favored coffee, I prefer the old stand bys: vanilla, carmel, and hazelnut. There was a Christmas coffee with vanilla, hazelnut, and cinnamon that was also good. I feel like the need to use Social Media this way will eventually die off. Or I hope it does. I work from home for tax season and probably don't leave my house for 4 of those weeks. I love winter and just staying in. To get ready, I fall clean my house, scrub rugs, eclutter and build a book pile. I am all set.
ReplyDeleteOh so many things that I wonder...questions without answers, I call them!! But they do make me wonder?! (I feel certain one day so many social media influencers, and non-influencers, are going to also wonder, "What was I thinking??")
ReplyDeleteHUGE peppermint fan here! And I love, love, love showered and in jammies super duper early I also LOVE when it's nice and dark early. This is THE BEST! As for kitchen tools, I love and am thankful for everything I own and use. Nothing matches, I don't care. I care about what works for us and what doesn't. That said, if someone wants all matchy matchy, that's cool too. Life is short, I say whatever someone enjoys is a good thing for sure. Match. Don't match. It doesn't matter to me.
ReplyDeleteWe are two peas in a pod. I ponder many of the same things. :-)
ReplyDeleteI do like to get cozy and I actually enjoy winter. Shhhh ... some think I am crazy for saying that. But I like the slow down, the rest and the time to reboot for spring, summer and autumn. I am a busy gardener in the spring, summer and autumn.
