Good morning, my friends! Pour a cup of your favorite coffee, tea, or cocoa, and we will share a moment or two. Today is one of those autumn mornings I wait for all year long. It is overcast and cooler outside, with a few slight hints of color in the trees. I light the candle in our kitchen, pour some hot coffee, and grab a soft pumpkin-covered throw blanket before I snuggle in my spot on the couch to begin my day. As I sip my coffee, I start my prayers. The house is quiet since I get up before everyone else does. Soon my Rhett will come down the stairs, all dressed and ready for work. He and I have a short time every morning together to visit while he eats his breakfast and before he heads out the door.
This morning routine differs greatly from when I had babies and young children. Years ago, my mornings began even earlier with diaper changes and cozy rocking chair time. Later, I started my mornings rushing around, getting littles ready for school, packing backpacks, and finding matching shoes. Later, as a homeschool mom, I began the mornings making breakfast and watching game shows before we headed to the schoolroom to start our days.
We all go through different seasons in life, I suppose. Each one is special in its own way. I remind myself to embrace the season I am in and to look back with love at seasons past, all while looking forward to the ones yet to come. They pass so quickly, don't they?
Have a cozy Monday, my friends. I will do school with Flynn, who is loving seventh grade, by the way, work on laundry, and not cook dinner today! Steve made meatloaf last night and made enough for tonight as well. We had mashed potatoes with it last night, so I think I could boil a bag of egg noodles and heat up some carrots. I don't want to get too fancy now, do I?!
Thanks for visiting. I will be around to see you all soon!
Billie Jo
It's a dark chilly day here in central NY, some of the trees are starting to turn, and I like it. I've got out the pumpkin candles and the cozy throw blankets...but I have to say, this past weekend we were in Florida, and that 85 degree sunshine is pretty nice! It's nice for a visit, and nice for my mother-in-law, she gets cold when it goes down to seventy, she cannot tolerate snow anymore. Yes, nice for a visit, but I was glad to get back to the coolness! And yes, those seasons in life just fly by...I'm only homeschooling Camille now, and had to get out the door to drive Miss Char this morning, as she fell back to sleep and missed the bus...

Have a great week Billie Jo!
ReplyDeleteThese are the days to remember. The slightly chilly, cozy days where nothing overly special happens. The real life. Happy Monday my friend.
ReplyDeleteSounds like a wonderful Monday. Great reminder about embracing each season of life. Hope you have a wonderful week!
ReplyDeleteYes, the seasons sure pass quickly. It's so important to enjoy the time we're in. Have a good week, Billie Jo!
ReplyDeleteI love leftover meals. Two for the effort of one…
ReplyDeleteI am in the season of waking up at the crack of dawn to get the kids ready for school. But minus the waking up crazy early the boys are both quite self sufficient and it's not too crazy
ReplyDeleteHappy Monday my Friend
ReplyDeleteI love the cozy I always feel when I visit your posts. Like stopping at a friend's for a cup of tea and a fun catch up. I agree the time flies so quickly. And the only certain thing it seems - is change. But I also agree about fighting the blessings in every moment for what it is. I remember your bigger homeschooling days. And following you on insta and reading your cozy posts there about what you were up to in each season. Yours was always my fave. 😉 Have a blessed week ahead! xo
I love leftover meatloaf. Can we come over and join you for dinner? ;-) Seriously, I love this post and the way you take like and each day slow and savor it all. I love "dropping in" every few days and hearing about your lovely home and family and your cozy days. I hope you have a great week! See you again soon.
ReplyDeleteI love how positive you are. Changes are hard for me. I often think of my kids when they were super little and I miss it so much that it hurts. These tween/teen years are hard, at least for me. I'd give anything to have the baby and toddler stage back and even early elementary school. Ugh, I'm struggling. Hope you have a great week ahead.
ReplyDeleteYour day sounds perfect right down to supper. We had left overs for supper too and it was still good!
ReplyDeleteSeasons changing can be hard, but each season has it's joys!
I also like what the others said about the cozy feel here. I agree!
Supper sounds yummy. Now I'm craving meatloaf. I should make some, but I usually cheat and buy frozen stuff.
ReplyDeleteMy kids have been out of the house for several years now, and I haven't worked for three years now, but it's only been in this past year that I've really fallen into a new morning routine. I used to get up and just sort of flounder about, wondering how to fill my time. But I've always thrived in routine, so even if the new routine is boring, at least it's routine and helps to set me day.
Oh, Flynn is in seventh grade! I do hope she has a good school year. Those deer in your yard are such a blessing to see. Meatloaf sounds delicious, and it really is a comfort food. Yes, I remember those school days well. The back to school days were hectic ones.....and wonderful. Every time I see the school bus pass by, I still smile. Your candle looks so cozy and nice, and that spider web holder is delightful. You find the cutest things out there, Billie Jo.
ReplyDeleteHave a sweet September week.

Meatloaf is my favorite! Today is easy for me, I thawed out frozen sauce we made last week, and I will boil rigatoni for it. We all need easy days, with easier dinners. It's cold today, so I am all for comfort!T
ReplyDeleteHi. I hope you are having a great day! It's amazing how many "seasons" we go through in life. I remember the days when Charlotte was a baby/toddler and I planned my days around her nap time and now we plan our days around homeschool/online classes and afternoon errands and karate class. Time flies too quickly, but this is life, and I often remind myself to slow down and enjoy every second of it.
ReplyDeleteAs always, you're a mind reader...just what I needed to hear, and remember. To enjoy the season we are in. Each one is special, and they fly so quickly. I'll admit I do miss Halloween costumes and school parties - but I have to enjoy every single day of NOW because none of us know how much time we've been given. I've been trying to keep busy until I get used to the new normal. As someone told me, "no one said life's changes need to be faced with an iron will...it's okay to sniffle." Will post soon, but so enjoy reading yours! Mary
ReplyDeleteAlways enjoy a visit with you Bilie Jo, and I love your morning routine, coffee for me as well, and sweet time with the Lord. Now, like you, my mornings have changed. No littles anymore, just my husband and I, which gives me more time to study the Word, read devotions, and pray. I do miss those days too, but as you shared about the seasons, I always try to find joy in whatever season I am in. Life is so much happier this way. I enjoy memories from the past, and look forward to making new ones each day. Most of all, I live with a grateful heart, God's goodness each day amazes me! Blessings to you dear friend, enjoy these fall days, and views of the deer in your yard!
ReplyDeleteYour morning sounds cozy and comforting. I'm hopeful I can get into a peaceful morning routine like I had.
ReplyDeleteI've always been a morning person and when the kids were little I would get up before them so I could have my 'me' time. It was great!! Now I'm alone and I still love the excitement of waking up first and sitting in the silence before the day starts.
