Friday. The weekend is here! Do you have anything fun planned? Or is your calendar blissfully clear, allowing for uninterrupted leisure activities? We are a mix of both, I suppose. Tonight we are boating and tubing with some friends. Tomorrow during the day is free, then after mass Steve and I are going to get our second Shingles Vaccine! This is date night in your 50's, friends! Actually, though, we are going to dinner after with my bestie Heather, who also happens to be a pharmacist. Hence, the jab. Sunday is free until after dinner when one of my favorite weeks of the year begins. Any guesses? Madeline? Any guesses???
Yep! Shark Week! I have always enjoyed making ordinary days extraordinary, especially when I had a houseful of little ones. Shark Week was a fun week during the summer that we could look forward to and enjoy together. After an evening outside, we would shower and bathe, get dressed in fresh, clean jammies, and gather together to watch a program about sharks. Yes, we could do that any other time of year. But the excitement of knowing many other people were doing the same thing made it much more fun. Sometimes we would have special snacks or wear new shark shirts too. My kids are grown for the most part, and I may be the most excited now, but they humor me. And so, a modified version of Shark Week is still a thing here in our house. If you want to join in, here is the schedule.
Have a wonderful weekend with your people, my friends. Stay cool and cozy! Leaving you with some phone photos of the past week here in Pennsylvania. We met this duck family while we were swimming off the boat. They were not a bit shy!
Thanks for visiting!
Billie Jo
Other than a few errands this afternoon our weekend is free and I am so happy about that. It's supposed to be HOT here!
ReplyDeleteLove your pictures. We've been seeing a number of baby deer also. SO cute!!
Enjoy your weekend my friend.
I've been seeing the term "shark week" lately and never having heard of it before I had no clue what it was. This is the first post where I've gotten a clue. Enjoy! lol
ReplyDeleteHave fun this weekend! I sure love seeing the pretty deer and all the birds you see there. We will try to get out on one of the trails one day soon. Gotta get the Jeep offroad! lol
ReplyDeleteI can't say I have ever watched anything during Shark Week! Even back when we had cable I don't think we did. You are such a fun mom. Have a great weekend!
ReplyDeleteHi Billie Jo~ My week-end will be fast and furious, but that's ok, it will be all good things! Enjoy, Shark Week! It used to be a favorite of our when the kids were still at home, always a fun week. Your photos were beautiful, ducks, deer and gorgeous scenery...enjoy your week-end! Hugs, Barb
ReplyDeleteShark Week!!! I love it and your traditions no matter how you are celebrating: big or little. Have a fantastic weekend!
ReplyDeleteHave a fun shark week. I know that is one of your favorite things. I applaud you and Steve for getting your second Covid jab. I have know several people lately (including my mom and sister) who thought they were in the clear with Covid, but got quite ill for several weeks. Our weekend is getting Josh settled into his new apartment. Hope you have a good one. See you again soon!
ReplyDeleteI may be able to see Shark Week on Discovery channel. I will check it out on our Roku tv. I am sure my BFF Tamara will like it since she' s not working due to an injury at work so she can watch alot of Shark Week. She loves sharks! We are going to a family reunion on Saturday. I look forward to being there again this year. I just finished making potato salad to take with us. Megan bought a marionberry cobbler pie for the reunion as well. Have a good weekend!
ReplyDeleteHey Billie Jo! Thank you for replying to me. :) I am glad you shared about shark week. I will make it a priority to watch a little. Tomorrow is our homeschool group sign event and since we have a senior we have to attend, then my afternoon is free. But tomorrow night I will go with my daughter to assist her as she has a HUGE wedding reception for an Indian family so the experience will be amazing. Sunday is church and my hubby is a Pastor so we def are busier that day but then we relax and chill the rest of the day.
ReplyDeleteYour weekend sound lovely!!! I love the pictures and I love catching up. Man....life went by fast. Our kids are older and I am in a whole new season of life feeling a little lost but God has me!
I completely forgot about Shark Week, I used to love watching it years ago. Thanks for the reminder.
ReplyDeleteWe are taking it easy today, had to go hunt down a new range for the kitchen this morning, but now just sitting and watching a movie. Tomorrow is church as always, and then coffee at my brother's house.
Have a wonderful weekend,
Sandra

I have been seeing the commercials about shark week, I have never watched it though. Might have to give it a go. Love seeing deer out and about. Where I live I have them pass through my yard early in the morn and late in the afternoon, the building in Nashville TN is pushing them out of their homes. I hate that but love seeing them.
ReplyDeleteBillie Jo,
ReplyDeleteYou motivated me and I am now ready for shark week. I have snacks and all. LOL!!!
Oh, and I did start my blog back.
We have been busy, out of town and back. I am not a Shark-week fan! I hope you enjoy it, I will pass:) I love seeing the deer and ducks on the pond! Your views are always SO pretty!
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your day dear friend, HUGS!
Looks like you are having a lovely summer.. a bit of fun, relaxing and important health care.
ReplyDeleteWhile we have not been watching Shark week my kids just watched Jaws for the first time and did not have nightmares. Win!
Oh, the duck family is wonderful. Love that photo with the sun shining on the water. And those deer! - there's something so very special about this animal. It kind of looks like a Mama and her young. I forgot to mention in my last comment, I'm so glad that you got rain! We need it so. Have a beautiful weekend, Billie Jo. I really like your fire pit, it's so cool. : )
