Good Morning, my friends! Welcome to a brand new week. Today I am sipping Starbucks Holiday Blend...still...with a splash of sweet cream. My mug is an old favorite I picked up at TJ Maxx a few years ago. Outside it is grey and blustery, cold and snowy. Inside, it is cozy and quiet, still and calm. My plan for today is to homeschool, make dinner, clean up, and watch The Bachelor. In between, I will visit your blogs, call my mom, and read a few chapters in my new book.
Dinner tonight is a new recipe, Cheesy Taco Pasta with corn and applesauce. I spent a few hours Saturday morning doing a light cleaning, so the house is clean (enough), and Steve and I picked up groceries yesterday morning, so the fridge and cupboards are full. Life continues around us, and while I am aware of all that is happening, I am careful about how much I let into our safe haven. It isn't ignorance or refusal to acknowledge. Rather, it is a choice. A choice I am making to ensure our home is a place of warmth, safety, and calm.
To do just that, this past weekend, I found an extra loaf of frozen bread dough in the freezer. I thawed it and spread it out on a cookie tray. Then slathered it with butter, covered it in cinnamon and sugar, rolled it, and cut it into pieces. Then I arranged them in my mom's round cake pans and let them rise. After I baked them, I iced them with Peyton's homemade cream cheese icing. And they were good.
Have a lovely day, my friends.
Thanks for visiting!

ReplyDeleteGoodness, we are alike. I'm definitely happier inside my own little bubble while the world around me does it's thing. No snow here in Southern PA. Enjoy the week, my beautiful friend!
ReplyDeleteOh, I like your coffee cup for today. Homes should definitely be all that you said, wonderful inspiration! Starbucks holiday blend is great, wish I'd have thought to grabbed some while it was on sale. Maybe next time. Hope you have a great week!

ReplyDeleteOh wow, cinnamon rolls baking is one of the most heavenly aromas! Add in that Starbucks Holiday blend, and wowza. I agree, we need to preserve our little havens, yet I also feel the need to keep the kids informed. We do encourage and comfort them, though, that God knows and plans all things for our very best. We're in for a cold and snowy week here in NY, and I don't mind at all. I am in love with COZY.
ReplyDeleteHi! I'm so happy I stumbled over your blog, I loved reading this post and I've subscribed.

Love these coffee visits with you dear Friend. And I'm literally drooling looking at those rolls. I completely agree about keeping your home a safe haven. I feel the same. It's a conscious choice to do so. Blessings on your week ahead. 💕

ReplyDeleteOh, those Pink roses! You know, Pink roses are my second favorite rose, after the red rose, of course. Those cinnamon rolls look amazing! I want one with my coffee right now. ; ) I love what you said about how you're careful about how much you let into your safe haven. I can totally relate to that, Billie Jo. Peyton's cream cheese frosting looks sooooo good. They really make the cinnamon rolls special. What a wonderful post this is, my friend.
