Monday, AKA Day 8

We were thankful to our wonderful parish priest for offering Mass online, which we attended from the comfort of our living room.

I dug out the special candles I was keeping for something. Because if not now, when? I light one and let it burn all day as a reminder for us to walk through light and not through fear.

I got up today, walked into the kitchen, and as I was getting my coffee, I thought about how pre-Corona Mondays were filled with to-do lists and family members getting off to work. Now, we slow down, check the latest news on tv, and plan for a day spent at home.

What does that even mean? What exactly is this we are living through? Although it seems surreal, it isn't. This is real life. For now. Not forever. I encourage my family to take it day by day. Looking beyond right now, where the only certain thing is uncertainty, is just too daunting.

So today, I got dressed. I fixed my hair. I made my bed. Later, I will teach school and do laundry. I will plan dinner. I will enjoy time spent with my loved ones here in our home. And I will call friends and family we miss. I will also watch the daily news conference and wipe things down with Clorox. I will spray Lysol before I go to bed. This is the new normal. For now. Not forever.

Have a cozy day, my friends.
Thanks for visiting!

  3. Yep! Exactly, get up, get dressed and create normalcy. Have a fantastic week. Are those Peyton cookies? They look amazing. She has a gift! I am trying to avoid the news because it just stresses me out. I mean, I prefer staying home lots of the time anyway so staying in to keep us and the world healthier is okay by me. :)

  8. We had a beautiful pre-Sabbath Friday night service via Zoom. I cried my way through much of it, but was so grateful that we could still pray as a congregation. One of our clergy said, "Physical isolation doesn't mean spiritual isolation." Take care!

  10. Love that you're lighting your special candles and embracing this new world we are living in for a time. We've been baking too and dog biscuits have been the top priority for the kids. The dog agrees and the drool on the floor when we pop the lid on the container confirms it! Stay safe my friend and enjoy this extra family time. xx Susan

  11. I love that so many churches are offering online services.
Yes, to the special candles and taking it day by day. I'm trying to not overwhelm myself with the 'what if's and when's'; it's too much to think about.
    Take care XO

  12. Billie Jo, your St. Joseph candle brought a tear to my eye, as St. Joseph is dear to me. I'm glad you got to watch Mass on tv. It is also on the EWTN channel, if you get that. I watched it on Sunday morning. I miss receiving Communion at Mass. Your chocolate chip cookie and coffee look so good. Such beautiful words about us walking through light and not through fear.

So glad I came over here tonight. Your post was comforting. You are making these worrisome days cozy for your family.
