I Was Just Wondering

 Do you prefer

1. Having excessive amounts of heavy snow falling on Christmas or sun and eighty-degree weather?

2. Eating your big, fancy meal on Christmas Eve or Christmas Day?

3. Slowly opening presents one at a time so everyone can see everything, or have a total unwrapping frenzy, complete with shouts of joy?

Rudolph or Frosty? Serious stuff here, my friends.

5. Putting all the presents away on Christmas Day, or leaving them set out for a while?

6. Hosting a big holiday party or attending one?

I know. This is really not the most intellectual or thought-provoking post. It is, however, fun. And who doesn't enjoy a little Christmas fun this time of year?

Have a cozy, fun Wednesday, my friends!

BillieJo

P.S. My answers, if you were wondering...

1. Give me all the snow at Christmas!!!! Please! As long as no one is traveling and everyone is safe and sound and cozy.

2. We eat our big meal on Christmas Eve at Madison and Nicolas' house. They host a traditional Danish Christmas, and we love it. On Christmas Day, I will have appetizers and soup so people can eat whenever they choose. We do have a simple but delicious Christmas brunch before opening presents.

3. Now that our kids are older, we like to gather by the tree and take our time opening gifts. When they were little? Different story!

4. Rudolph. Always.

5. I always leave our gifts out for a while. My Dad used to love sitting by the tree and looking at his new shirts, pajamas, and Old Spice underneath. When my kids were little, they would always ask me to "organize their piles," and I would leave their things out through New Year's. If there is a time for a messy, chaotic family room, Christmas is that time.

6. Trick question. Neither. But you already knew that, right??

Google for the images.

  1. Good Morning,
Snow, snow, snow, let it snow, let it snow.
We have our dinner on Christmas Eve, with snacks on Christmas Day.
We open our gifts slowly, letting all to see what we received.
    Frosty!!
We leave our presents out for a day or two.
    :-)

  2. Snow!
    Christmas day
    In between frenzy and slow
    Frosty
Put away...our home is small...takes up space!!
Neither, but rather attend one then host.

  3. Oooh, I love surveys!

    1. I would love to experience a white Christmas. I think that would feel so magical.
    2. We usually split the two days between my in-laws and my parents so we do both.
    3. Slowly opening and savoring the moment since it goes by fast anyway but when my kids were smaller they tore into them all like crazy. I probably did too as a kid, I'm sure.
    4. Both are adorable but maybe I'll pick Rudolph.
    5. Depends on the present. Some can be used right away and some just seem to sit under the tree for awhile.
    6. I usually take care of Thanksgiving and my sister-in-law hosts Christmas. If I had more space in my house I'd be okay with hosting, but like you if it was my way I'd prefer neither and avoid family drama (like I did this year for Thanksgiving). I like my peace and comfort.

Thanks, that was fun and I love your answers.

  4. Snow especially if we aren't traveling.
If we go to my parents, then the big meal is on Christmas Day around 1.
Presents are opened slowly to savor.
I like both, but would pick Rudolph.
Put away after a thank you note is written.
    Nope to hosting or attending.

  5. I prefer neither too. Time with family is all I need

  6. I don't miss the snow, I grew up in Illinois and live in Southern California now, but would like to drive up to the mountains to see some. Christmas Day for the big meal. One gift at a time. Both Christmas movies. We leave them sit under the tree for a while. Attending a party. Enjoyed reading your answers.

  7. 1. I lived in SW Florida for 20 years and really missed snow a lot. I appreciate the four traditional seasons.
    2. We always did Christmas day in the past, but we are changing that to Christmas Eve this year with a big breakfast Christmas morning and then appetizers, leftovers, etc. for Christmas day.
    3. Opening gifts one person at a time.
    4. Rudolph
    5. We leave them out for a few days.
    6. I used to equally love both but now neither.
    Have a great day!!

    1) We need snow at Christmas but after that it can go away.
    2) We have our big meal on Christmas, on Christmas Eve we have something like sliders and lots of goodies.
    3) We always open gifts one at a time.
    4) Yes to Rudolph!
    5) We leave them out for a few days
    6) I don't like huge gatherings, but I do like to host smaller ones.

  9. I like to leave the presents out for awhile before I put them where they belong. No parties for me, I want to be comfy!!

  10. 1. Sunny and 80! Give me any flip flop weather and I'm good.
    2. We don't eat a big fancy meal on/around Christmas at all.
    3. Either is fine by me; but I do like to try and pace it out a bit so opening presents lasts longer.
    4. Frosty
    5. Away; either Christmas day or the day after when the tree and decorations come down.
    6. Neither; I prefer small parties and I do prefer to host but I don't like big parties of any kind.

  11. These are always so much fun. ❤️💚
    1. Snow 100% as long as everyone is safely in their cozy spots.
2.Christmas Eve I host a brunch with Christmas ham because we do mass that night. Christmas day I host for Matt's folks a more formal ham dinner.
3.We usually open one at a time with all the Christmases we do so we can see what everyone receives.
    4. Rudolph is the OG and I will die on that hill. Lol
    5. We usually leave things out in our bedroom - and Annie in her room since we host with Matt's folks the day after all the present mess. 🙈
    6. I don't do big parties - but I host just about all the Christmases here. We have a nice sized home and good hub for everyone. So I do Christmas Eve with my Mom & Bro, either night before Christmas Eve or Christmas Eve after mass gift opening just with our kids, Christmas Day with Matt's folks, and in January I host our girlfriend Christmas almost every year. My Dad and step Mom stay in AZ over Christmas now. But I do love hosting and making the house cozy for everyone. :)

  12. *Snow!
*Appetizers and goodies on Christmas Eve, and a big dinner on Christmas day.
*Slowly opening presents. I'm a weirdo about this. I always tell the other person all about the present I got them and why I loved it so much for that particular person. ; ) I open them slowly too, pausing on how creative and thoughtful the gift is.
    *Rudolph!!
*Putting some of the presents away, but leaving some of them out too.
*No big parties, thank you. I just enjoy having those special moments with my family, if it's baking, watching a Christmas movie, or having a cup of coffee and talking.

Fun post, Billie Jo. And I so loved those vintage pictures. I often wonder where you get them.

    3 Open presents slowly

5 We used to leave the presents out for a few days. Don't have presents anymore.

  14. These are so fun!
    1. Always snow! Growing up in San Diego we had the sun and 80 degrees. Even now after more than 35 years in Seattle, I'm like a little kid when it snows!
    2. We eat on Christmas Day
    3. We open one at a time. That way we all share in the gift giving and each person gets their moment.
    4. Rudolph
    5. Leave gifts out. Every Christmas after the gifts are opened, I take a picture of the aftermath. When the kids were little I would organize their gifts and take a photo of them with their presents. It's fun to look back on the variety of things they got throughout the years.

  15. 1. SNOW!!!
    2. Dinner on Christmas Eve. We always do a simple "shepherd's dinner" by candlelight.
    3. One present at a time. Even when the children were little.
    4. Rudolph!
    5. When the kids were little we left their toys out. Now everyone brings their gifts up to their rooms or home at the end of the day.
    6. No big parties for me! I don't host parties nor enjoy attending them. One year, we skipped my husband's office party~ a lavish affair (this was back in the day) and we opted to stay home, cozy in pj's, cozy by the fire and the tree. Best. Decision. Ever. And we never attended another office party again! I do though, host Christmas Eve dinner and Christmas Day at our house for our adult children and their families.

  16. I live in Florida and much prefer 80 degrees!! No snow for me! Dinner on Christmas Day. One present at a time, but the frenzy is more fun! Rudolph. Leaving the presents out for a few days. I love hosting!! That was fun, Billie Jo!!

  18. Fun questions.
    1. We always get stuck with snow but one year, when all of our kids were away we went to Hawaii, just the two of us and loved every minute of it. Very strange to see Santa on the beach, but fun. It paved the way for 5 more trips to Hawaii so far. :-)
2.We don't have a big meal at Christmas. Both of us just grew up with picnic type food at Christmas. My Mom always made her special pretzel jello salad. Great memories. Sandwich fixings, potato salad, etc. Whenever we got hungry, we raided the refrigerator. The guys watched football and us kids played with our new toys. We pretty much did the same thing with our kids.
3.One present at a time. Youngest to oldest and around and around until all are opened. Even when the kids are little.
    4. Rudolph of course!
    5. We leave the gifts out until the tree comes down or they get carried off to the recipients room/home. It's fun to remember the opening and the joy.
    6. I used to host parties all of the time when we were in Spokane but most of our friends from when we lived here 35 years ago are moved or out of contact now. We're more apt to attend a party now.
    Blessings,
    Betsy

  19. #1 I don't need it to be 80 but... brown Christmases are just fine by me!! Snow is a pain.
#2 We are a Christmas Eve family and the years when I have tried to change that... it just feels weird. So Christmas Eve it is.
#3 Somewhere in between but skews slower.
    #4 Rudolph.
#5 They can sit out for like 2 days and then I want everything where it goes. Wrapping paper and packaging put out right away.
    #6 Neither... small and cozy!

  20. I would love to have a white Christmas! That would be considered the icing on the cake around here. Our kids and grands come over on Christmas night and we eat dinner and open gifts. I prefer to let each person have their moment, but it's hard on the kids, so we've just started handing them out. But I still try to make sure I see everyone open their gift. That's half the joy, is seeing their face when they open something. I prefer Rudolph and his cute little voice. And we don't leave anything under the tree when everyone goes home. In fact, I usually take the tree down the next day if I can get away with it. I like to get my house back to normal asap. And party? If I must...I will attend, so I can leave when I choose. Hosting is not my thing at all!
These are fun! I always enjoy when you do these :)

  21. #1 Sunny and 80 degrees always!
#2 Christmas Day. My son and dil are in charge of Christmas Eve.
#3 One at a time. We take turns so that everyone can see who got what.
    #4 Frosty
#5 When my children were little, everything was left out for days. Now that they are adults, I put things away the next day.
    #6 Neither.
