"November comes
And November goes,
With the last red berries
And the first white snows.
With night coming early,
And dawn coming late,
And ice in the bucket
And frost by the gate.
The fires burn
And the kettles sing,
And earth sinks to rest
Until next spring."

November is one of my favorite months. I love the quietness...the stillness...the calm. November is a chance to breathe...The chance to catch our breath after the craziness of Halloween and before the excitement of Christmas. That is not to say I don't begin to prepare for the upcoming holidays...I will pull out my notebook, pour a cup of tea, and begin listing gift ideas for loved ones. I will make a list and we will shop for turkey and all the trimmings. For the most part, however, I will stay snuggled in my country home with my people. And that will be good.
November has a beauty all its own...
And it lends itself to all things cozy...
Enjoy your November, my friends.
Oh so cozy! November is also my favorite, not to mention my Birthday is on Thanksgiving day! 😁 I do iah we would get some rain. We are currently in an official drought after 90 days of no rain. But at least the temps are low enough to start our first fire this morning! Tour photos and poem are perfect. Happy November!
ReplyDeleteNovember is definitely a cozy month! Even though I can't believe its November! Where oh where did this year go? We are still having some unusual warm weather here, so some of our trees still have green leaves. And its so dry...we really could use some moisture!
ReplyDeleteMy Hubby's all ready been buying Christmas gifts and stashing them away. But, I'm just not there yet. I just want to enjoy the season!
I loved your photos... Its definitely Fall where you are... So pretty!
Happy November!
I love November for its own beauty too Billie Jo. It does have it's own calm and peaceful to it.... and such a feeling of preparation. Preparing for the Christ child's birthday, and for holiday yummyness and family time to come. Getting ready to hibernate under blankets of snow and cozy into the time ahead. Bring it on. xoxo
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely poem. I need to try to slow down this and every November. it is both my children's birthday months. That's it I'm going to go to bed early tonight after reading this all I want to do is get under the blankets : )

ReplyDeleteOh November, I'm right there with ya on that one Billie Jo! I think it's the very best month for all of the reasons you said. So enjoy every second of it in that wonderfully cozy house of yours. And by the way, I think it's just perfect that I got to meet you for the first time in November!! xo
ReplyDeleteA beautiful month, a month for preparation, list making and joy. Christmas bits and pieces are slowing emerging. Have a great month.
