Just A Thought

My friends, Tuesday is the day. Election Day. While I usually refrain from discussing politics here because, let's face it, we all see and hear enough about it everywhere else, I will break my self-imposed "No Politics" rule just this once. This blog serves as a scrapbook for me and my family; this election is an integral part of our lives. I am not attempting to sway anyone's opinion. By now, all of us have made up our minds. Our vote is just that. Our vote. We are blessed to have a say in who governs us, as so many others worldwide do not. And when all is said and done, I pray that we can each appreciate and respect the outcome while, at the same time, rest assured that it is what our founding fathers intended it to be and what countless men and women have fought so hard to obtain and protect. We are but a link in the chain of Americans exercising our right and duty this Election Day. Like so many others before, we will impact the lives of many who follow. And that's all I have to say about that.

Happy Monday, my friends!

Billie Jo

  1. Dearest Billie Jo,
Indeed it is our duty to vote and do it freely and not because of some ushering into believing what is promised.
God forbid we ever loose that freedom!
My Pieter lived through the horror of war and he witnessed the suppression of Communism when lecturing 'behind the Iron Curtain' where most of his scientist friends lived. They were not even to leave their country, it took quite some paperwork for letting them speak outside of their country and NEVER could they take their wife with them!
Let us pray hard for not loosing that freedom EVER and the freedom of Religion...
    Hugs,
    Mariette

  3. My friend, I so appreciate your post today. I enjoyed seeing all of the old posters from years gone by, but most of all I appreciate your comments. No one has to be hateful...we can just accept one another's views as who they are without being nasty. Thanks so much!

  6. I voted early, and while I agree we should be respectful of other's opinions, it's hard when others don't respect your choice. But as my great Aunt Mary would say, your vote is your voice, so vote. Great sacrifices were made for your right to vote.

  7. Good advice and more important than ever, with this time of big government overreach. Case in point the seizure and killing of Peanut the Squirrel in New York, by some overzealous state officials acting like the gestapo over a little squirrel. RIP Peanut.

    1. I am almost ashamed to be a New Yorker. This was absolutely sickening, not only did they ransack his home for five hours, letting him use his own bathroom with a police escort, prevented him from feeding his horses, asked his wife for her immigration papers, they totally overstepped in every way. Because they actually killed his sweet little squirrel! Killed it! If they suspected rabies, which squirrels don't usually get (it is very rare), they would isolate for ten days, but no, they just murdered the helpless little thing. Question: why on earth would the government even care about a squirrel? We won't even get into the other things they turn a blind eye too...Kathy H. is something else.

  11. I feel the exact same as Madeline above me. She said it well! We voted last week and plan to try to avoid crowds for awhile. I do wish we all could have respect for each others opinions and agree to disagree like when I was younger.
    Blessings,
    Betsy

  13. Great post! I enjoyed seeing the old posters and the sentiment is some sanity I wish our elected officials would adopt.

  14. Well said, Billie Jo! I wholeheartedly agree! It was interesting to see the old campaign posters, and very interesting to note that Ronald Reagan had almost the exact same slogan as Donald Trump. God bless America! Thanks for this post!

  15. One of them is full of hate, darkness and wants to divide us. One is full of hope, light and wants to bring us together. I already voted for the only one who will heal this divided country. She is going to make a wonderful president.

  16. "We will impact the lives of many who follow" is a prescient comment. Love the FDR poster.
