Good morning, my friends! Happy Friday! Our week here started out windy, rainy, and cozy. It is ending with warmer temperatures, sun, and some beach time. In between, we enjoyed being together, watching movies...Elvis, A Star Is Born, and Knives Out so far...playing games...Monopoly, Farkle, and Phase 10, and eating.
Did I mention eating??? Pumpkin Spice pancakes with a pumpkin spice latte was a favorite breakfast. My favorite dinner? Pan-seared scallops over lobster risotto with oil and lemon vinaigrette topped arugula. And see that dessert? That would be Chocolate Kaula cake with mousse filling. It was amazing.
We took a few photos to capture this moment in time. And to remind me that I always overpack for the beach. I only need pajamas, an outfit, my bathing suit, and my zip-up robe. I literally wear my jammies, then change into my suit to swim, shower, and put on my old blue zip-up robe! If we go out, I change. And then promptly put my jammies on as soon as we return.
The beach holds so many memories for our family. We started coming years ago as a family of three, two young parents with their firstborn baby girl. Our family has grown to include three more children, two sons-in-law, and one girlfriend through the years. I never take for granted the time we spend here together and the fact we can all be together. And the fact that we still carry Blue's Clues Shovel and Pail and Elmo and Big Bird beach toys down to the sand.
We will enjoy a couple more days here and then pack up and head home to colorful leaves and cooler air. I hope you have a wonderful weekend, whatever you plan on doing. Thanks for visiting! I am always happy you do.
Billie Jo
Sounds like a really nice week for you Billie Jo. Enjoy the last few days.
ReplyDeleteIt sure looks beautiful! I am so ready to make a little trip! Enjoy your weekend!
ReplyDeleteI am so jealous that you are at the beach. It is my favorite place in the world. I am just so sad that my Fort Myers Beach has disappeared as has Sanibel. I spent lots of time at both places and am heartbroken. Enjoy every single moment of family time. I do, too, with my own kids/grands.
ReplyDeleteYour food sounds delicious and I ALWAYS overpack for vacation. It's a sickness. lol. xo Diana
It looks (and all of you, too) fabulous! What memories and what fun to just relax before the hustle and bustle of upcoming weeks. And I overpack/overcook on food too...it just seems I'd rather have too much then have someone be hungry, and leftovers are always a winner. Take care, travel safe, and enjoy the weekend! Mary
ReplyDeleteLovely pictures of your family at the beach. Looks like everyone had a good time and made some wonderful memories. I love your fall leaf sweater. Safe travels home. See you again soon!
ReplyDeleteIt sounds like so much fun! That Kaula cake is calling my name. :) And wearing pj's all day except when swimming sounds good too.
ReplyDeleteBeach time is so fun. I thought about doing that tomorrow but Phil decided we should save money 💰 due to gas prices. We're going on a sternwheeler for dinner 🍽 on the Willamette River in Salem. Closer to us and not staying overnight. I hope they have delicious dessert as well. Good memories of being with children thru the years. Have a good weekend.
ReplyDeleteOh how I love a trip to the beach with lots of family! Your food pictures made me hungry and the beach pics make me want to go to the beach:) Enjoy this day dear friend, I am sure you will. HUGS!
ReplyDeleteI have my two oldest granddaughters this weekend. It's going to be great!
ReplyDeleteSuch gorgeous scenery at your beach! And oh my, that cake looks and sounds like perfection. Hope you enjoy the rest of your time there with your family. Somehow, I think you will. Happy Saturday!
ReplyDeletePumpkin pancakes sound delightful. And that chocolate cake with mousse filling! What a wonderful time spent with family, Billie Jo. I love your leaf sweater, and I am always drawn to Peyton's clothes. She has a vintage bohemian style, which I love, and she wears it well. The sun shining over the water is simply lovely. Looks like Flynn is still enjoying the sand between her fingers and toes, how wonderful. : )
