Hello, and Happy Wednesday! In fact, Happy June! We are home safe and sound, ready to enjoy our summer days here in our little house on the lake. I am sure you are tired of hearing about our time at the beach, but I have one more thing to share. You may or may not know that I am an avid fan of beauty pageants. My sister and I have watched The Miss USA and Miss Universe Pageants for as long as we can remember. Back then, a young Bob Barker would host the pageant! We would pick our favorite and watch through the pageant, hoping she would win.
Last week at the beach in Maryland, my brother-in-law, who reads every single newspaper, mentioned that the young woman who recently was crowned Miss Maryland USA was from Ocean City. How neat! He said she actually worked at a restaurant there. When we arrived at our restaurant that evening, we were thrilled to find it was the restaurant she worked at!
Usually, I am quiet and reserved. I did, however, mention to our waitress that we had read about Miss Maryland, and she was so excited to point her out and tell us how proud of her they all were. We continued to enjoy our delicious meal, and before we finished, I simply had to ask if Caleigh could possibly stop by our table and say hello. It was extremely busy, and she had several tables to serve, so I didn't expect her to, and I would have totally understood had she not. Soon enough, however, she came right over and visited with all of us! She was the kindest, most sincere, humble young woman. She spoke to us as Caleigh, a server at a lovely restaurant in Ocean City, who just happened to have recently achieved her dream of becoming Miss Maryland USA, her state's representative in the Miss USA pageant this fall.
The New Miss Maryland USA, Caleigh is a beautiful, hardworking young woman, unassuming and grounded. She took the time to give us an autograph and pose for a photo. And we promised, as proud residents of Pennsylvania, to cheer for her as well in The Miss USA Pageant this fall!
Have a wonderful Wednesday, my friends.
It has been a while since I have been around.
I will visit soon!
Oh, and if you are ever in Ocean City, the restaurant is The Hobbit, and it is fantastic!

That IS neat! I am so glad that happenstance happened to you! It's fun to have someone to root for. Happy June!
ReplyDeleteWow! How cool is this?! It sounds like she is just as lovely on the inside as she is on the outside! I'll be rooting for her this fall in the pageant! : )
ReplyDeleteNice story you wrote. Sounds like a nice woman who won Miss Maryland. And you got to meet her! 😃 I enjoyed watching Miss America pageants years ago. I decided to enter the Miss Linn county pageants when I was a senior. Even though I didn't win I had a good time. Have a good day.
ReplyDeleteWhat a fun experience for you all. Sounds like she's very humble and kind. So glad you had fun on your trip to the beach. Hope you have a great rest of your week!
ReplyDeleteWhat fun - one of my daughters participated in pageants and we loved to watch too.

ReplyDeleteHow neat! She is beautiful. My Mom and I used to always watch the big pageants too. We did the same as you and picked our favorites. I can't remember the last time I watched one and if I even noticed it was on TV!
