I 'd much rater leave a message than talk to someone on the phone. Why? Who knows.
Maybe because I can monitor my words before I blurt them out.
But then again, sometimes after I leave a message, I sit and wonder if I said something stupid and it's just waiting there behind the flashing red light for someone to press Play.
See...Issues.
I don't generally like to answer the phone either.
I suppose this is all somehow related to my social anxiety.
Which is weird, because I generally do like people.
Just not too close to me, I guess.
Which may explain why I consider fictional characters among my best friends.
Not to mention my love of Lifetime Movies.
I mean, those poor women need a good friend.
They are always thrust into terrible situations and seem to only have that one friend.
You know, the one who usually ends up getting killed off in the first hour.
I cannot remember anything. Seriously.
If I didn't have kids to remind me what to do next, I'd be walking around in a circle all day,
I swear.
Then there is this.
My obsessive love of all things Christmas.
As much as I am enjoying spring, and all that has to offer,
I am missing and looking forward to the time when it is socially acceptable to bring out the Christmas music and decorations!
But first...this.
Halloween will always be first in my heart.
I absolutely love thinking about it and preparing for it in my mind long before I pull out the first orange and black storage tub.
Maybe it is the time of year, maybe it is the cute ghosts, witches, and pumpkins everywhere, maybe it is the start of all things pumpkin, or maybe it is my love of scary...not gory...movies.
Just the thought of dark evenings inside, with the wind howling and leaves blowing outside, old Frankenstein movies on TV, and pumpkin spice lattes in hand makes my heart happy.
The candy in cute wrappers doesn't hurt either.
Ok, that's enough for now.
Thanks for hanging in there!
I'm always glad you do. : )
Pinterest for the images...as always.
Oh Billie Jo, you had me smiling all the way through. I understand about the phone. I worked at Blue Cross Blue Shield in customer service years ago. I got enough of the phone to last me a good long while...it's been 25 years so far!
ReplyDeleteI'm afraid I've fallen prey to the lure of texting, too; but, I think email is my favorite. I don't have to keep my messages as short, and I can do it any time of day!
God bless you with joy and peace in the name of Jesus Christ!

Oh Billie Jo -- you are too funny!! Am exactly the same way with phone calls -- hardly ever answer our land line, but I don't want to get rid of it . . . yet! I prefer to leave voice mail messages too. Don't even get me started on the Lifetime or Hallmark movies -- we are very alike! :) Hope you have a great week!
ReplyDeleteDitto... Everything... Right here! 🙋

ReplyDeleteI am the opposite with the phone I hang up rather than leave a message. Halloween is not quite as big over here but Christmas is my first love, I plan it all year round and make gifts all year too.
ReplyDeleteThis was such a fun post!!
ReplyDeleteOh goodness, I HATE leaving voicemail. I rarely do it, because then I obsess over the fact I probably said something stupid.
I dream of Christmas, and I also dream of Fall all year along. I enjoy spring, but I just LOVE the fall/winter season. Cozy time of year makes me happy. :)
All I have to say Billie Jo is that you are pretty much a Gal after my own heart in almost every way. ;) But I bet you sort of got that already. Lol
ReplyDeleteLove your "sharing"...and you're not alone! xoxo
Sweet friend, I can totally relate to what you just said. I am not a phone person and truly dislike talking on the phone unless it's with my husband or mom. And social gatherings....not a fan. I love people and I would do anything for a friend or family member, but I like my space and quiet time. I have been this way since I was a young girl.
ReplyDeleteAnyway, thanks for being honest and no, you're not alone. Love and hugs!
Great post, Billie Jo and I can totally relate. I am not a person who enjoys talking on the phone - less so the older I get. I also have social anxiety which really kicks this time of year with all of the "end of year" and retirement get-togethers at school. I usually try to have a "very pressing appointment" any time a social gathering is planned. I did recently start singing in the church choir however, and that was a giant step forward for me and my social anxiety, since I am way more comfortable singing in the privacy of my shower. Hope you have a really great week and thanks so much for praying for my grandson! Love from AZ!
ReplyDeleteYou know these posts of yours just make the rest of us breathe a sigh of relief, right?
ReplyDeleteThat weather app is hilarious!! I really could relate to that one.
Oh I so relate to this and I love it!!
ReplyDeleteI am the same way with the phone!!!! Glad to know I'm not the only one with issues!!
ReplyDeleteAnd all this just makes me love you more! Do you know that I actually don't like to talk on the phone at all. If I could just exclusively text I would choose to do that all the time. Even leaving a voicemail freaks me out. And also, after a particularly social morning, I most look forward to hurrying home to the safety and comfort of my house and my couch and my tv friends (who are mostly from Pride and Prejudice or Forrest Gump these days. :) We're all quirky.
ReplyDeleteIM IN LOVE, IM IN LOVE AND I DONT CARE WHO KNOWS...I'm in Love with Billie Jo! Lady more than half of these funnies describe me lol
ReplyDeleteOnly I start with Fall then Halloween then Christmas. I am already looking forward to fall and Summer hasn't started - oh who am I kidding I live for fall! and if you tell me you like to listen to The Little Women Soundtrack and Christmas music all year I'm going to have to mail myself to you lol Thanks for the funnys I love ya BUT don't call me ok? my home phone isn't even hooked up!
I love you friend! I think I'm gonna stop by! And call! But I'll surprise you, okay? (just kidding!) Love you!
ReplyDeleteWow, I thought I was the only one who prays for calls to go to voice mail and then worries that I sounded like a moron, lol!!!!

ReplyDeleteLove this, so much fun... especially the Walmart one ;-) Some days I feel the same as well just not up to the social side of things, lol. Have an awesome week!
ReplyDeleteBlessings,
Jill
Oh my goodness, I could of wrote the first part of this. Just send me a text, K?
ReplyDeleteAt my last job, I had to man a phone, mostly incoming calls and calling to do background checks. It totally burned me out on phone talking.
Keeping fictional characters as your friends! LOL!! So funny! As for the voice mail, I feel like I always REPEAT myself just in smaller more non sensical words and then I hear David's voice in my head saying, "Why do you give so many details??" LOL
ReplyDeleteThat Wal-Mart one?! That would be my best friend!! I don't like to answer the phone either but I really dislike listening to voice mails too so... why do people even call anyway? I would love to watch Lifetime movies with you!
ReplyDeleteHi! My daughter tagged me in a little text tag to answer some questions and share and link to others so I have tagged you :-) If you'd like to give it a try here's the link. http://blessingsofastayathomemom.blogspot.com/2016/05/text-tag.html Thanks! Have a great night :-)

So I think we might just be the same person!! :) I, first off can not stop thinking about bringing out my pumpkin decorations and just told my husband the other night how much I miss "pumpkin time" I think we have a ways to go since it's not even Summer yet....thank goodness we get 4th of July out of it ;) And shopping, I hope and pray I don't run into people I know when I'm out and about. I just like to go about on my own and get it done unless my girls want to come along, that's always okay!!!
