Can You Believe...

...I love seeing, hearing, and studying all different types of birds, while at the same time I am completely terrified of them, all while The Birds is one of my favorite movies ever?

...I can still twirl the baton I had in high school and even remember some routines I learned as a majorette, yet I forget where I put my phone at least 3 times a day?

...I have never tried driving a stick-shift car? As in never even been close to attempting it. I just don't think it would go very well.

...I have no middle name? My name is Billie Jo. Not Billie_ Jo. And it has sometimes been a challenge to convince people that Jo is, in fact, not a middle name, nor is J a middle initial. Remember those tests in school where you had to fill in the bubbles for the answer, but first you had to write your name in those spaces? That was more stressful than the test!

...I have not parallel-parked a car since I took my driver's test in 1987. Trust me. It's better this way.

Well, I am sure there is more, but I need another cup of coffee. Feel free to add your own!

Have a wonderful Wednesday!

Billie Jo

  1. I watched The Birds quite a few times when I was younger. I have never driven a stick shift and parallel parking is what caused me to fail my driving test so since getting my license it's something I avoid. It's funny how much in common we have. I wasn't a majorette but I did do colorguard (with the flags).

  2. This was fun to learn more interesting facts about you Billie JO! Our granddaughter is Mylee Jo, but Jo is her middle name... She is named after my mom, Patsy Jo. I thought I would never learn to drive a stick shift, but my dad was determined that I was. I finally got it and for this reason, I can now even drive a tractor! lol. When it comes to memory...I've learned to carry around a notepad and pencil...lol... have a good one Billie Jo....Good week!!

  3. Cute! πŸ˜‰. Good on you being able to twirl your baton! Sounds fun. Wish I had continued my baton lessons in grade school. I did learn to drive a stick shift when I got my first (very beat-up) car…a VW beetle. But, the clutch was so bad that I just never drove😝
You’re brave to watch “The Birds” since they scare you. I love birds, too; but once was enough watching that one!

  4. I love all of Mr. Hitchcock's movies! I can drive a stick shift and used to parralel park quite well. Don't ask me to do either now!! I took baton lessons one summer so I could try out for majorette! I told the band director I was trying out, and he said "...no, you are not. I don't need a six-foot majorette. I need you to play your trumpet." All those lessons for naught! I do still have my baton, though, and admit to giving it a twirl now and then!! This was a fun read!! xo

  5. Billie Jo, I love Hitchcock movies! And I learned how to drive in (what we called) a standard (stick shift). Let me tell you, it was so nerve-wracking when stopped at a traffic light that was on an incline. You had to hope the car behind you wasn't too close, because you would roll backwards while simultaneously working the clutch, brake and gas :) I drove one until I had children. Then I figured that trying to shift gears while also handing binkies, bottles or snacks to kids in the back seat might be a hazard. They were a lot of fun. And I wish I would have kept my baton. I was only mediocre on it, but it was a lot of fun too.

  6. I am not scared of birds we have a lot here as we feed them. But I don’t like the birds in the movie!
I have a lot of names Catherine, Elizabeth,Bernadette and finally Louise!
I had to write all these names when I had to register somewhere for university exams…
Typical of Normandy (in the past) grandparents names added to your name.

  7. Hitchcock knew how to make a movie! But, did you ever read about how he was on set? Eye opening...

  8. The Birds freaked me out when I saw it as a kid! Especially the scene with the guy's eyes pecked out! I am a pro at parallel parking. I had to every morning at work for years!

  9. Oh friend samesies on parralel parking. And I will also see you 90 degree back in. I didn't even do those ON my drivers test. I also am freaked out by birds, both the movie and the creatures. Happy Friday.

  10. Ha! Love these. And I’m so glad I’m not the only one with forgetfulness at times. And never wants to parallel park. 😝 My only skill here is driving a manual transmission. I didn’t get a choice and had to learn to drive on a stick as it was all we had. But I guess the blessing is if I ever needed to, I know I could still drive one. It’s a skill that stays. And I love your name and think it’s so cool that it’s different Have a great weekend beautiful Friend! πŸ’—

  11. My younger sister tried to teach me to drive a stick shift but I just couldn't get it. Still can't and have no desire to try. I'm with you on that one, for sure!

  12. I don't have a middle name either, nor did my mother or father.
I had a corvette and you have to drive a stick shift with that!! :) I learned how to drive a stick shift when we lived in Scotland and you had to shift left handed.
