Memorial Day has always signified the unofficial start of the summer season. To commemorate this momentous event, I bring you some things I like about summer and a few I don't!
During summer, I like...
Late afternoon and early evenings, reading on the beach.
All the summer food, like hot dogs, corn on the cob, garden lettuce, and tomatoes.
Mid-afternoon thunderstorms.
Earlier morning walks.
Eating dinner on the porch.
Shark Week.
After dinner ice cream runs.
Three months of Big Brother.
And dreaming of autumn every single day.
Some things I don't like about summer???
The sun. And the heat. And the sun.
And the heat.
Bugs. Mosquitos, bees, wasps, hornets, moths, and on and on and on.
And crowded beaches.
But that's just me!
Happy Wednesday!
Billie Jo

Love this Billie Jo! I agree with every one except dreaming of Autumn. I dread it's arrival... :)
ReplyDeleteI could have written this post. You hit the nail on the head about summer! Wishing you a fun one.
ReplyDeleteHaha! I understand the heat. I don't mind it for a bit but then it gets old around Late June/July because by that point it is usually around 100 and humid daily.
ReplyDeleteLove the lightning picture.
ReplyDeleteThe thing I like most about summer is sitting on the front porch!!
I'm right there with you Billie Jo.. No crowded beaches...no fake news...and the Heat simply wears me out. Summer's in Texas can feel like torture. I need to be one that moves to the mountains during our Summer months. Great photo of that Summer thunderstorm...
ReplyDeleteAfternoon thunderstorms, nice and dark, yes! I almost hate if the sun comes out again, keep that dark cozy sky a while! I only like the heat if I'm dressed for it, preferably on a beach or near a pool. I love camping, camper camping, where I can enjoy the outdoors but still sleep in a comfy bed, and wake up and put the coffee on without rummaging through the trunk for all the supplies. I love bare feet in the grass too. And all the hours of daylight. After dinner ice cream runs are a thing here too...:)
ReplyDeleteReading on the beach, summer foods, eating on the porch, all great things! The older I get, the less I like the sun. Especially when the temps get above 75, no thank you. Enjoy your summer Billie Jo. Every day brings you closer to autumn! :)
ReplyDeleteI think I can agree with both of your lists!! A fun post, Billie Jo!!
ReplyDeleteMe too for almost EVERYTHING here!!!
ReplyDeleteEspecially heat and bugs!
ReplyDeleteOoh, I am with you on all of it....especially the part about Autumn!
ReplyDeleteWell you know I am inclined to agree about most of these. Though I do love the pace of summer more than any other season. The heat makes us all slower. But otherwise... It's the bug free AC for me!
ReplyDeleteA happy summer girl here! It's deliciously warm. I have sea salty hair, and sand in my toes. Oh, and a couple of pebbles in my back pack courtesy of Lily :) I'll still look forward to autumn, just nearer the time. X
ReplyDeleteLOLOLOL on your thoughts about the heat. Girl, it has been humid here since say oh, late March. The last few days have been 100*. sigh. Wishing you a beautiful day. smiles
ReplyDeleteOur summers don't get as hot as yours (or at least not for very long) but oh man the bugs are just the worst... and they always seem to find me. Though I do get bug bites in winter too I just don't get as many of them. But I just LOVE summer days reading by the lake, grilling, eating outside.
ReplyDeleteBugs, the humidity, crowds (anywhere) - I'm with you on all of that! I do enjoy waking up to sunshine and walking outside to feel the sun on my skin. It always takes me back to earlier days and good memories. I'm loving these long days with sunrise around 6:15 and sunset after 8:00. Now, catch me at the end of August and I'll be crying for Autumn days :)
ReplyDeleteI agree with everything! I used to be one that loved the summer sun and heat but not anymore.
ReplyDeleteHmm, you must have read my mind, Billie Jo. The older I get, the less I like heat and humidity. Anything over 75 is too hot for me! I noticed an increase in humidity since Sunday BECAUSE of the bugs. Happy Thursday!
ReplyDeleteHa! I am so over the thunderstorms and rain, in general. BRING ON THE SUN! I am going to the beach mid week next month and I hope it won't be too crowded, but if it is? Ok. As long as I have my adult bevvie, a good book, and zero housework to do.
ReplyDeleteMove to the PNW. Not a lot of melting heat here! The approach of fall/autumn depresses me.
ReplyDeleteThat's me too, Billie Jo! I can relate to every single one of these (except for the movies, haven't watched those yet). And I see you found a pic of hot dogs plain - I think I remember you saying you like them plain. I laughed at the "sick freaks" one hehehe. I love those Dairy Queen chocolate dipped cones. Isn't the summer rain and thunderstorms neat? And my friend, I smiled BIG at the Autumn pic. I loved every bit of this post!
ReplyDeleteMe too! The sun and heat especially. We’re very much enjoying the cool weather here in the Black Hills with Piper. Most of the summer it will be hot and humid in Omaha where we’ll be.
ReplyDeleteBlessings,
Betsy
I relate with every single line my dear Billie Jo! I'm so excited for the melons and corn to get more ripe in the days ahead. I'm watching my rhubarb grow every day and looking forward to harvesting it soon to make a wonderful strawberry rhubarb dessert. 😋 And I'm most excited to use our deck all summer as our extra living room. We are out there almost every night in the summer to rock and visit, or play ladderball, or sit by a fire as we watch the sunset. The best! And you just got me so excited for Big Brother to come - yay!!! I'm also with you about buggy pests and heat and humidity being a big no no. Lol I hope you have an incredibly blessed summer ahead ☀️💛
ReplyDeleteI agree with you! I don’t like heat and sun I am looking for Autumn as quickly as possible 😂 I agree with all!
