One More Time

Hello! Happy Friday! So, yesterday, Flynn, Steve, and I loaded up the van and made the long drive back to Pennsylvania. One final time. Yes, we are going to sell the lake house and finally become permanent residents of Maryland! This has been a long time coming, and although I will miss this area, I am ready to close the book and begin again. For the past few years, we have maintained both places, and honestly, we are ready.

This trip is packed to the brim with packing what remains here, and honestly, going through things relentlessly. Things I have kept safe and sound in Rubbermaid tubs, moving from house to house. My logic is simple: if I haven't thought of it, needed it, or missed it in the past several months, I can free myself of it.

I also have my run of appointments these next couple of weeks. And you all know how I feel about that! I have my mammogram, female doctor, dentist, dermatologist, primary care doctor, and eye doctor appointments coming up in the next two weeks. If you have a moment, please send up a prayer for peace for me. These things get in my head sometimes, and although I have made tremendous progress in my OCD and Anxiety journey, I understand many people feel anxious before appointments. So, I am going to simply get on with it!

Leaving Maryland...

Still driving...

Made it!

This morning.

Have a lovely weekend, my friends!
See you Monday!

  1. Prayers. I have developed the white coat anxiety in later years. It is frightening. Prayers for appointments and move. Brenda

  2. Well, Pennsylvania is going to miss having you! Maryland is a beautiful state and I wish you luck with the sale, the move and being settled into one home. I'm sure it's a bittersweet feeling. I will be praying for you. My mammogram is coming up soon and it's no fun but it's worth it once it can be checked off for the year.

  3. You have a lot on your plate, so anxiety is warranted. However, you also have a plan and you are in touch with how you can manage it. Good luck with your move and I will be excited to see the updates!

  4. Prayers for peace and comfort. I now have the same anxiety when it comes to doctors and dentist visits, and I know how hard it is.

  5. Oh my!! Prayers for you and your family during the move and for you through the next few weeks of appointments! I don't get anxious as much as just plain old dread. It nice to be done with it each year. Amen. Do keep us posted and I hope you feel the love and prayers flowing your way!! xo

  6. That's a lot! It will be nice to not be moving back and forth though, once you get this part done with.
And all the appts. I remember you did this last year too. A few crazy weeks and that's done too! Praying for you!

  7. Oh my gosh, Billie Jo. Packing up, moving, and the whole journey is a lot, and you are handling it so well. I whispered a prayer for you. And you've kept all your special treasures intact going from place to place. That's not easy to do. I often wonder how some of my delicate items didn't break with all the moves haha. Hang in there with all your appts, and I wish you peace along the way until you are safely settled in. Thinking of you during this busy time, my friend.

  11. Wow, I am stunned! But I guess it is a lot of work and time to keep up both houses. I have never seen the front of your house, it is beautiful. Praying for all of your appointments. We have so many every month that it is hard to keep track and I have double booked so many times!

  15. I know your feeling with doctor appointments and I will definitely be praying for you my dear friend. May God give you peace in your heart and your head too.
When we moved into our camper six years ago in preparation for traveling the country full time, (we planned this until we unexpectedly had to give up our dream to move back to Omaha to take care of Mom.) We had sold our four bedroom 3 bath house we had built 20 years before. I ruthlessly got rid of many, many things and I haven't missed any of them. I loved the year we spent living in the camper until we moved here. Now I've filled our condo to the brim again. I have no idea how that happens! :-)
    Blessings and love,
    Betsy

  17. You are, of course (and you know this), NOT ALONE in your anxiety with regard to doctor appts. What a relief it is to have those things behind you. I am praying for your mind to be at peace.

  19. Not going to lie...just thinking of doing all of those appointments within the same month makes me anxious! And on top of moving stuff and selling...aacckkkk! I pray for peace over all you have going on and smooth sailing for every bit of it. In Jesus Name, Amen.

  20. What a big, beautiful step for you and your family! There is something so liberating about finally deciding to "close the book" on one chapter so you can fully enjoy the next. Maryland is lucky to have you as permanent residents! I completely understand that feeling with the Rubbermaid tubs, we all have those things we move from house to house "just in case," but there is such a lightness that comes with finally freeing yourself of things you haven't missed.

I will certainly keep you in my thoughts and prayers over these next two weeks. It is perfectly human to feel that "scanxiety" before a run of appointments, and you should be so proud of the progress you’ve made with your journey. Taking a deep breath and just "getting on with it" is sometimes the bravest thing we can do. You’ve got this, and before you know it, you’ll be back home in Maryland with all of this behind you.

  21. The weather is perfect for packing up and starting a new adventure-how exciting! It sounds like you have always loved Maryland, so it’s not worrisome as if a job is transferring you to a place unknown - yay! Thinking of you and sending prayers as it’s time for me to have those check ups as well - I absolutely understand. Take care and enjoy the day.

  22. You're selling the lake house?! I'm a little sad, I always enjoy your posts from there. (Course I enjoy your posts no matter where you're posting from!) But I can imagine taking care of two homes is a lot of work. God bless you and protect you as you tackle this move.
Beth and I have had a lot of appointments the last couple of months. I'll pray you have peace of mind and a sense that the Lord is with you as you walk into each and every doctor's office.

  23. First of all...prayers for your peace as you visit each doctor this week. It can be overwhelming as you wait for results. Praying that you will have nothing but GREAT reports. It is so hard to let go of past things that have brought us so much energy and happiness. Wishing you the best Billie Jo in sorting through and being able to part with things you have had for so long. Safe travels and enjoy your time there.

  26. Oh goodness - prayers and all best wishes on all of your appointments dear Friend! I can only imagine how overwhelming it all is - moving, the appointments, and leaving a state you have loved so well for so long. But it sure looks like you have a beautiful new chapter unfolding in your life with almost all grown kiddos, a beautiful new home, and all the other amazing things that will be unfolding in the time ahead. Wishing you so much joy in it all. 🙏🏻💗
