This week was filled to the brim, I tell you. And yet, oddly enough, I have very few photos to share with you. Here is a picture I previously shared of our Mardi Gras celebration on Tuesday. I am still thinking about that King Cake.
Wednesday, of course, was Ash Wednesday, and no, I never did find my purple cloth, but I did find one I like better!
Last night, we celebrated the Lunar New Year! We had our favorite Chinese takeout and fortune cookies for dessert.
Throw in some Olympics watching, and we had a full week. Celebrating these special days is different each year. Sometimes it is elaborate, other times it is thrown together at the last minute with whatever supplies I have in my holiday cupboard. What doesn't change is the fun we have as a family, celebrating special days.
Other notable events this week? I am praying with the Hallow App this Lent, and according to their website, we will " Journey through The Brothers Karamazov by Fyodor Dostoevsky. Together, we'll let go of what holds us back, return home to the Lord, and let Him send us out as His hands and feet." Although you don't need the book, Peyton and I couldn't wait to get started with it!
We homeschooled this week, of course, and this little guy was always ready to get started. He sits behind me on my chair every single day.
And is ready for our afternoon couch time after school, too.
Have a nice weekend, my friends. It will be quiet here. We are heading to the condo for the weekend. Plans are uncertain, but may or may not include swimming, napping, reading, game-playing, and movie-watching.
Happy Weekend!
Thanks for visiting!
Billie Jo
Pinterest for the reminder.

I hope you and your family have a lovely weekend, Billie Jo. Your plans sound perfect.
ReplyDeleteI think it's about time I also indulged in some swimming and games on my weekends. Xx
It sounds like you had a lovely week filled with festive fun.
ReplyDeleteYou always do the holidays and special events so well! I hope you have a relaxing, wonderful weekend.
ReplyDeleteI love your new purple cloth!
ReplyDeleteGlad you all had such fun with the holidays.
I have a sign that matches your pillow. It says "Lets just stay home". It's perfect, especially in the winter.
Beautiful table cloth for Lent. I admire how you celebrate life to the fullest with your entire family. Puppies included. I just love your sweet little babies. They look so happy to be with all of you. Enjoy your weekend my friend. I would love to be there, listening to the waves along with you.
ReplyDeleteBlessings and hugs,
Betsy
Your new purple cloth is gorgeous, Billie Jo. And that is a very good thought in your graphic. The older I get, the more I see the value in pacing myself. If I can, when doing physical labor, I rest a bit before I get utterly exhausted. It's just so much better than wearing myself out completely and then having to actually recover.
ReplyDeleteI really LOVE your coffee header!! You always add fun to every day and are so full of joy! While being a homebody at the same time.
ReplyDeleteSome nice celebrations you had. I love watching the figure skating. That's a nice quote you shared. He is just too cute! Enjoy your weekend.
ReplyDeleteWhat a full and joyful week you’ve had, from Mardi Gras to the Lunar New Year and daily homeschool moments. It’s lovely to see how you celebrate each day, whether big or small, and still make time for quiet family moments.
ReplyDeleteI’ve shared the first post for the Movement Link-Up to encourage everyone to join in, and it will stay open until Monday, so there’s still time to share your post.
I loved that book read it in High School.
ReplyDeleteSo much that I loved about this post, Billie Jo. I love the way you celebrated Mardi Gras, Ash Wednesday (that purple cloth is GORGEOUS!) and then Chinese New Year. Take out for that sounds delicious and easy. I also appreciated the way you are observing Lent. You are such a blessing. I hope you know that. Have a wonderful weekend at the condo. xx
ReplyDeleteP.S. Sorry that I forgot to mention this, but I love the end graphic...and isn't it so true. Why do we think that we need to exhaust ourselves before we have a break to just relax and be?
ReplyDeleteWell, in spite of your last graphic, I did exhaust myself and am now sitting here reading blog posts as my rest time. I've been outside pulling weeds from the rock beds. How do weeds grow when we've had such unseasonably cold weather????
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your weekend!
Happy weekend to you and yours, Billie Jo! Yes, you had a full, but wonderful week indeed!! I haven't had King Cake in years. Yours look delicious! xo
ReplyDeleteThe purple cloth is so pretty.

ReplyDeleteIt’s been years since we had a king cake! I love how you keep up with traditions:)
ReplyDeleteI hope you are having a wonderful weekend!!!! I am late to catching up on blog reading. :)
ReplyDeleteI think I'm interested in becoming a dog owner. what kind of dog is your little black and white cutie? It's fun to see all the things your family does to celebrate events ...I admire these things..
ReplyDeleteHello dear Friend! Sounds like a perfectly wonderful full week. :) I am following on the Hallow app too and love it! I just posted about it actually. I loved on Saturday when Mother Olga talked about her Order's missions. And her simple prayer of Empty me. Fill me. Use me. Well it's my new daily prayer. Love how you folks celebrate in all the ways you do. Blessings on this week ahead my Sister in Christ. xoxo
ReplyDeleteThat Kind Cake looks wonderful! And your purple table is so lovely. I'm getting ready to decorate my hutch with Easter and purple things. The Chinese take-out sounds really good. So dear that you and Peyton are reading this book together. And love that last picture and quote. It was nice visiting with you today, Billie Jo, coffee in hand, and reading such a delightful post.
ReplyDeleteBlessed Lent
